i love the look of this thing. futuristic, and cool. i would definitely buy one, turn it into a mad max vehicle and drive around getting thumbs up from kids. i'll take it in grey, then add bright orange highlights to sport it up a little.
This is the most interesting EV in the pipeline for me. Most EVs are too big and do little to make use of their package potential. After reviewing the stats of the Ionic 5, I realized our Golf has similar amounts of interior room despite being a third smaller!!! VW is also refusing to bring over the ID3 or the short wheelbase BUZZ, which means our urbanist family is likely looking to CANOO or GM for our next vehicle.
The seating layout seems like it was designed specifically to waste as much potential trunk space as possible: way more leg room than anyone needs, and side-facing jump seats that can't be used while in motion. If they'd just offer a traditional second row I'd agree with you, but then people would call it a minivan, and there's no way that Canoo can allow that.
@@eskanderx1027 Aptera isn't really an ideal urban vehicle. It is too wide and the turning circle is too big to be ideal for tight traffic. Street view window. Aka cracked glass magnet. Hopefully its a cheap piece to replace. Because of its angle to the rocks hitting it it going to crack or get covered with bugs pretty fast. It does seem like a cool feature though.
I suspect most of these will be used businesses as delivery vans or service vans. The problem with the masses is that they get 'range anxiety'. Most folks won't drive more than the 80km/50 miles in a day and the 400km/250 miles they can do easily will be more than enough. A business will know it does;'t need that or will keep a few ordinary vans operating for rare special jobs. With this van you never have to go to a petrol station. Just charge overnight at the depot.

@@bradleymilligan2158 You're not wrong as to why they're doing it... it's to look futuristic. The problem is that vehicle manufacturers often sacrifice practicality and ease of operation all for a "look" that nobody asked for. Imagine if a computer keyboard or TV remote had flat touchpoints instead of physical buttons. Imagine how annoying that would be? Both keyboards and TV remotes share a common feature with vehicle control buttons: they're all designed to be used without looking directly at them, in case the user needs to focus on the task at hand (TV, computer screen, driving, etc). The Canoo has been designed as a fleet vehicle. Currently the company is focused only on fleet sales. If down the road Canoo decides to sell to individuals then I suspect there would be some modifications .
That seat arrangement wouldn't be street legal in some countries, Australia for example no longer allows sideways facing seats. For good reason, the seatbelts won't work as well.
rooting for them. I hope they don't run out of money or have leadership that is inside trading. Their stock can't catch a break and this business model is yet to succeed. I would buy the van.
What if they move away from the dealership and proprietary model and made the vans much more open source? What would be a genius design and marketing strategy for Canoo is if they sold the vans on the premise that any mechanic or handy owner would be able to safely maintain or swap y parts on the van, and that those parts down to the computers, chips, panels, switches, etc. could be sourced or replaced with readily available parts.
Are those seats right behind the front row seats real seats? Like do they have seatbelts and airbags? They look like something you can use only when parked.
Yes, they are real seats with seatbelts. The Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle has 12 airbags throughout the cabin. Assuming Canoo successfully reaches volume production, I'm betting it's got a shot at becoming a hit with taxi and other high occupancy drivers due to its excellent visibility and unique seating arrangement.

Hi Robert, Yes, here's a video from last week on the plant: th-cam.com/video/5YsOerIZxy4/w-d-xo.html
THIS should have been the new fleet of US Postal vehicles.
Can’t wait 🤩
Love the review/preview just subbed
Dark Khaki Green looks really nice and cool.
That seat arrangement wouldn't be street legal in some countries, Australia for example no longer allows sideways facing seats. For good reason, the seatbelts won't work as well.
Great ideas and packaging, only wish they have the ability to make more than a few dozen.
Going to buy one for my companies delivery vehicle!
Absolutely love it! An AWD model would be great.
I love it, zero fks given about trends, just straight to the point. Hopefully the prices are also right
How does it function in cold weather and in snow
This car is so cool. Hope they do well
Canoo - that back seat looks like the Checker Marithon may have been resurrected that would make a great NYC taxi.
This platform is brilliant. Look for the "pickup" version Canoo is building. It is fantastic! First EV I am interested in.
I like the look. It’s nerdy but cool at the same time.
This looks like something big cities like New York would use as their taxis.
rooting for them.
Stock price must survive.
How safe are the occupants sitting on the door-cushion in a 40 mph frontal impact?
Sandy Munro Has A More Detailed Video . I Play It At 1.5X Speed To Make It Shorter . th-cam.com/video/b3Sj2jJmug8/w-d-xo.html
Very cool concept, but I can’t help but wonder how passengers in those side-facing wraparound seats would survive a collision…from ANY angle.
I'm curious as to their front end crash protection, it looks worrying but have they worked around that with stiffening the chassis?
Awesome insight into the Canoo minivan. I thought their plan was to have the driver provide their own screen; phone or tablet, using the Canoo app.
@@beowulf555 It's been many months since I did the story. I don't remember how many seat belt sets there were.
@@EVRider That’s still great information. Thank you for your reply.
Love it!! A full on Awd overland would be cool!! 10 inches ground clearance and push the wheels out a couple inches. Dosent really need bigger tires.
Hello. What is the name of this model, where can I buy it?
Canoo has started very limited production. At the moment sales are limited to fleets, but the preorder page is located here: www.canoo.com/canoo/ And here's an update on production plans: evrider.tv/canoo-buying-oklahoma-city-plant-ev-production-starts-nov-17/
@@EVRider Great! Thank you for the information. Have a great day friends!
canoo was also selected by NASA to replace the astrovans at KSC for crew transit to the launch pad for Artemis missions.
having such a small 7 seater would be so cool, only thing I don't like is that the front area seems like alot of wasted space, I would have it open from the front to be used as an extra trunk
This is so cool. Im pre ordering one. Saw Sandy Munros video and test drive and its brilliant. Wonder which will be delivered first Cybertruck or this
Nice but what thing of that video or test-drive finally convinced you to buy ?
I ended up not buying. Bought a Model X instead@@MusicTherapistJASON
IS IT AVAILABLE IN FRANCE AND SPAIN IN THE FUTUR PLEASE.
Can't wait to have my legs turn into bloody pulp.
I am interested in the safety rating in Euro NCAP of this vehicle.
I love the thing.. its like a StarTrek Shuttle Craft. or some kinda StarWars transporter. its amazing!!! Ide make it the perfect little mobile treehouse.
I want that MPDV so bad. It's got those sharp, aggressive lines with all the utility.
The suv/cuv was the reinvention of the minivan!
The SUV came first.
That thing would be great for me. I am an avid cyclist and enjoy a lot of outdoor stuff. There is more than enough room inside for my bikes and gear so I can transport them inside on long trips.
