Theres even enough room left to put a generator in there to help extend range if needed. Pretty cool :)
I really like the idea of electric bike/car vehicles. The performance and quiet are amazing. But I've always felt, why put out so much $$$$$ for a vehicle that will get you less than 100 miles down the highway? I'd rather purchase a Honda trail bike, or Yamaha street/trail bike with less performance than an electric, but would still keep up with traffic as a commuter than have to be looking for an electrical outlet every 50± miles.
To be fair, Zero offers three model lines that have ranges greater than 100 miles with their 17.3 kW batteries. The Livewire One also has a larger 15.5 kW battery than the S2 platform bikes referenced in the video. In mixed riding (interstate & side roads), today's upper-range Zeros get about 120 miles of real-world range per charge. But yes, if you're a rider that regularly does more than that round-trip and you don't want to stop for a charge, a gas bike with a larger tank is still the way to go.
According with Tesla we never going to be able to use Lectron Bortex plug, because is not certified by Tesla, is that true?
As mentioned in the video, neither Ford or Tesla has sanctioned the use of aftermarket adapters. The adapter does work at V3 and higher Superchargers but if anything were to ever go wrong Ford or Tesla might attempt to deny any warranty damage claim because a non-OEM device was used.
I have an 2012 SR/F and also a new Battery. Now I get every now and the problem with v12. my belt broke 4 times already. now I have 44000km. currently and never coild last longer than 11000km. the firmware updates works fine. but the app is getting worse a lot of features dont work anymore like app notifications.
What's your dealer say about having that many snapped belts? That definitely shouldn't be happening. The only time I can think of where a belt might snap on a properly maintained bike would be in a high throttle situation where the rear tire leaves the ground for some reason, or perhaps in a very rare instance of a foreign object getting into belt/pulley. I wonder if your dealer isn't installing your belts correctly with the proper tension and torque setting?
I’m going to look at a 2021 4xe this morning to purchase…I hope I don’t regret it!!!
Good luck. Hopefully it will give you years of trouble-free, economical service.
It would be awesome to have an adapter for a regular ev car owner in case someone is using the ccs so we don’t have to wait as much.
Adding DC charging would be huge.
Every trailer I have seem ppl complaining left and right! Theres no perfect trailer or thing because ppl always complain its very annoying once you norrow down an affordable, compact, lightweight option just to hit more bumps and leaves one with no options….. No one says what they are comparing it to as well, so its point less ppl are just making me nervous! I have a sedan and need a light weight trailer that I can fold into my apartment dont have a house. And my car can only tow 900lbs its a mustang 2020 convertible….
Based on your situation it sounds like there's really no good trailer answer out there. While the Ace might work, it's still 300 pounds. Odds are good that if you tried to wheel it into an apartment you'd scratch the doorway or worse. There are definitely better trailers out there, like Kendon and Stinger; but they are larger, heavier and more expensive.
I am SO hoping that now CANOO is in bankruptcy when they sell off all the co assets another builder will swoop in & snap up all the plans & parts & dies & whatnot along with the list of the engineers that created those vehicles and Canoos intellectual property with the intent of actually building these great vehicles. VW? Are you listening? Tesla? BYD? !
I seriously doubt it will play out that way. I think you'll find the assets will be sold off to other factories, etc. I think the few EVs that were built will end up in private collections and Canoo will be a footnote in history. But I'd love to see your hope come true.
Bummed to hear this. Although oozing with marketing fluff, the modularity presentation was intriguing.
"Shocked" for how well the Lyriq has done. Hope it continues. Awesome run-down on the V, EV Rider!
SO much better than the Tesla.
won't see one ever except the prototypes. ><;
It would be much better if the fold out was stored in the Front Trunk so that the Rear Trunk is freed up for model kitchen setup and sleeping. STILL, pretty cool!!
It’s all coming together with Enphase for providing a high quality home energy management system. Solar + batteries + EV charger and all managed in one app 😊
And now their Bankrupt Oklahoma pissed away a lot of money on this and we as tax payer in Oklahoma couldn't be happier, 😤🤬🤬🤬🤬
Will Chrysler regain it's independence from the European FIAT/Stillantis grip! They have ruined Chrysler 😢!
So far Stellantis has indicated it has no interest in selling Chrysler, although Frank B. Rhodes Jr., the great-grandson of Walter P. Chrysler, proposed buying it. It seems unlikely Chrysler could survive as a small independent American brand at this point, especially given it would have to start from scratch.
Im not going to comment in too much intricacies on the Bankruptcy stuff. Ive researched and know a bit of info which I am not going to share here in this format. Ideanomics basically hung Energica out to dry, they grabbed a lot of 'Green' companies to throw into their portfolio so they could suck up the government buxx for their scam they were pulling, and then left the companies to wither on the vine. They had no intentions IMO of supporting those companies, just needed the names to get the cash, and when their book burning failed, and they got caught, well, the companies were the first to go. Energica was successful before this boondoggle, and WILL be successful AFTER it is all over, BUT they need to divest themselves from the parent company and all the dead baggage hanging over them because of it, so they CAN continue on. They have the bikes, they have the factory, AND the people just waiting to go back to work, they just need the process... which is called Bankruptcy, to finish, so they can get it all legal and on paper, and broken off back into their OWN company, to continue to work on the bikes. The good news is, last I heard, the judge in Italy basically said, keep making bikes, keep the people working until this all gets sorted. See they have a few 'entities' Energica Italy which is the main company, and they want to make an Energica America, which will be it's OWN entity. Even if energica italy does not ever come back, from what I think they said, they still want to try to keep energica america as a thing, that inherits all the tech, the programming etc to make that happen. Whatever happens, ideally, everyone goes back to work, or there is at least ONE energica, somewhere that is carrying on. Right now, the US office IS OPEN in California, filling orders, fixing bikes, doing business as usual, as best as they can considering all that is going on. Once the judge signs off on the paperwork and says, ok it's all settled, you have a NEW owner, now get back to work, they are already on site really TO go back to work. As mentioned, they have a lot of orders already, it's not like they are a startup trying to be successful, they were, until they got hamstrung by dishonest investors. The auction for their 'property' ... ie the 'process' of bankruptcy and divesting, I believe is very soon now. Often times, there are no eager buyers the first time around, as investors tend to try to get better deals on their purchases. The new buyer if he got what he wanted would get the company dirt cheap and debt free. The creditors, if they got what they want, the new owner inherits ALL the old / bad debts, and pays them off... The initial offering on the auction is working towards the creditors goal, and as time goes on, prices go down as deals are struck and working towards the buyers desires. what will probably end up being the 'deal' is something between the two as creditors agree that something is better than nothing, and even though they may take a loss now, having the company be able to stay in business, and this time around be able to keep buying from them, will eventually makeup for it all. Given Energica's downfall was not due to 'their' process, but more of being a victim of bad actors, I have a very good feeling the company will find a new owner and hopefully get back to normal very soon here. They don't have to reinvent themselves they just need to find honest owners. Keep the faith and let the process work it's way thru. I have a feeling they'll be back before spring ends with a little bit of luck. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Sorry for getting very wordy but I want people to know what happened and what's going on as much as I can. For the record, I know many of their people personally and own 3 of their bikes. Ego Corsa, Hybrid Ribelle, and an Experia. HMU if you want to test ride any of em one day but it'll cost you a lunch ! Aaron
0:18 “cease operations” They never operated at all😂
If you use a thick bungee chord from one side to the other side of the axle it would support the bike and keep it upright while you attach the first two straps allowing you to use load the trailer alone.
The only thing I don't like about enphase is you have to go thru their website to get the data. I paid for the system I want the data on MY property, not having to use their website. What happens when they go bankrupt or decide they want to start charging for what used to be free? It's only a matter of time. FWIW TED units are decent for keeping very close track of what you make, where it's used etc
The app includes an email/download feature. If you want, you can back up the data to your local hard drive or phone as often as you like. But sure, with any company offering a connected experience there is a risk at some point things will change. Whether it's Enphase, Ford, Facebook, iPhone or any other connected experience, there's no forever guarantee that the software/connectivity will be maintained.
@@EVRider and THIS is exactly my point. There are ways out there to get data that is YOURS, in your hands, you don't need them to get to it. So if the company does go out of business, your data is still YOURS and in YOUR hands. Even if they did something so that the bridge talked directly to your compy w/o having to go thru them that would be nice. They can still grab the data for their purposes but make a way for YOU to get it w/o having to use the internet
@ I know of at least one company that does a wifi-only connected charger, with no internet connection. It generates a simple html page with a static wifi IP address so as long as browsers continue supporting html it should work even if the company goes out of business. What you do is disconnect your phone or PC from the internet & connect your wifi to the charger, which then generates the html page with charger data. It gives you charging speed, amps, volts, temperature along with the ability to adjust amps up or down and includes a simple timer function. It's not nearly as sophisticated as Enphase's app but it does meet your desire of keeping data away from the cloud. It's from a company that doesn't have much of a track record. So far I've used it for about a year with no issues. Here's the review of that one: evrider.tv/daolar-sells-affordable-60a-11kw-ac-wifi-charger/
The problem with all of these is, there are going to be / already ARE so many EV companies, cars, motorcycles filing for reorg, any potential investors are going to be very leery as to who they decide is worth the risk or not. What NOBODY wants is another boondoggle like what happened with Ideanomics where they grabbed up a bunch of companies and just used them to suck the money out of the green new scam program and then let the companies wither on the vine. Rivian is in a huge mess as well, and unlike GM I don't see the government throwing them a lifeline anytime soon anymore. Now lets throw in the fact, in a few years, tens of thousands of the batteries are going to start hitting their twilight years and when people see what THAT is going to cost to replace. It's going to be very challenging even for well established companies, let alone new ones trying. It's sad to see any EV company go down the tubes, as that just weakens the market for all of them.
I disagree with your comment, "weakens the market for all of them." We've seen this dance play out throughout history. Auburn, American Motors, Bricklin, Cord, DeLorean, Nash, the list goes on and on. The reality is we're seeing a new golden age with new automotive and motorcycle companies gaining a real foot hold. The idea that we have a second round of "big three American automakers" (Lucid, Tesla, Rivian) is astounding. But just like with gas, not all new players will make it. Look at Tesla and Zero Motorcycles. They've already outlasted a good number of ICE companies.
@@EVRider Zero is having issues, and I believe they ultimately really want to divest from the US as much as possible and get into the India market. Warranty / Recall issues really tore them up in the US. Yes only the strongest will make it but when there is a glut of 'hey can you help us keep going's' out there, it makes it difficult for all of them, because the buyer has so many choices now, and some it's easy to separate the wheat from the chaff, but others it's going to be a real song and dance to get money to keep going. The Green New Scam is being shut down, so a lot of these companies are going to go down quick now that the money is drying up. Yes people will move over to EV eventually, I predict more as the charging network gets built out more and the hysteria over range gets finally put to bed. But until that happens, it's going to be ugly except for the very strongest, which, basically, is Tesla.
When All you make is the Pacifica 😂 …
from Asia, where is Canoo based ?
It's headquarters were originally in California before being moved to Texa. It's battery plant and assembly line were in Oklahoma. Additional Canoo coverage is available here: evrider.tv/tag/canoo
Not anymore! Toyota Sienna stole the mini van market from Chrysler!
Chrysler sold 107,356 Pacifica minivans in the U.S. in 2024. Sienna sold 75,037.
¡Qué lastima! It was one of the EVs for which I was looking forward.
So sad. I sure hope my hometown Scout Motors doesn't face a similar fall in a few years.
A sad story for all.
And they are broke
It's an electric hybrid and the reason he bought it is because you can take the top off ?
That's one of the reasons, yes, plus he wanted something he could take off road, although he would have preferred a pure EV Wrangler. For open air fans there very few options out there if you want an electric powertrain. There's the GMC Hummer with its t-tops and a few EVs with sunroofs, but I can't think of a single full convertible EV, or even plug-in hybrid convertible outside of the Wrangler currently sold in the U.S.
The electric motors running in parallel with the gas engine is what gives this 375 HP and 470 ft-lb torque. The Toyota 4 runner has 270 HP. Why didn't they mention that ? Plus way better gas mileage. Power when you need it, good gas mileage when you don't
Several reasons: He wanted to get as close to a pure EV experience as possible and he wanted an open-air vehicle. Wranglers and 4 Runners are very different vehicles. I'm surprised you'd think someone that wants a Wrangler would want a 4 Runner, or vice-versa. I'd say a Bronco would be a more likely competitor to a Wrangler 4xe. But even there, Ford doesn't offer a plug-in hybrid Bronco.
Very informative. Thank you. Can I just ask whether the Q4 had the ability to put roof bars on it, as I can’t see any racks to mount them to on its roof?
According to Audi Orange Park (FL)'s website, the answer is yes. Here's a link: parts.audiorangepark.com/p/Audi__Q4-Sportback-e-tron/Base-Carrier-Bars---Q4-Sportback-e-tron/109295242/89E071126.html
The technology is here now I got a solar generator and solar panels which create more electricity than I use to drive in a day!
As far as you know, is this the only Android Auto unit that's got that anti-theft quick-release/removable feature? It seems so as far as I can tell. I like some of the other offerings (I don't think this one has any auto brightness/dim feature, right?) but that anti-theft setup might be the priority as far as being able to remove it easily.
The Ottocast has a type of auto brightness. You can set the display between 1-10. I keep mine set at 10 for daytime and 5 for nighttime. As for anti-theft, another review unit I was sent from a different manufacturer did not have the anti-theft feature but there is a ton of similar stuff out there, so there might be another one with the same anti-theft feature. I've been happy with the Ottocast. It's performed flawlessly since I did the review a year ago.
Great video, thank you for the content. I have a few questions I hope you can/will answer. (1) Did you eventually get your Ford Fast Charging adapter and how long did it take to get it? (2) I've read the adapters only work on V3/V4 Tesla Superchargers (anything over 150kW). Is there an adapter that works on the Tesla Superchargers that are under 150kw (like the 72kW legacy/urban Superchargers)? (3) What adapter do you use for the Level 2 Tesla destination chargers?
Thanks! My Ford OEM adapter did eventually arrive in Sept. after ordering it the 1st day it was available in Feb. You are correct, the adapters only work at V3 & higher Superchargers. For Level 2 NACS I have a 60-amp Daolar and an older 40-amp Lectron. A review of the Daolar J-1772 adapter is in the second half of this video: th-cam.com/video/qeXeu5NW6lE/w-d-xo.html. It begins at 6:19 in.
What a beauty!!!!
I really enjoyed this video and I'm a current BMW x6 owner, which I love, but this iX is making me look for an upgrade.....real soon
Could not love my Corin any more!
You really rocked it with the aftermarket sunroof.
Yea Caddy should have really offered a factory sunroof. I loved popping out the aftermarket one on those perfect Florida days when cruising around town or to the beach.
Owner of a 2017 Zero S; I've put about 28k miles on it. I was hoping to get to 40k, but my range is half of what it used to be, there have been disconnect issues with the dash and a few times it just...stopped...when I was getting going. I know Zero's rep for customer service isn't great--and that's true from personal experience. So now I'm hunting for my next ride. I need a commuter, capable of at least 80mph for my freeways, and I'll go from there. If it's a Zero again, that's fine (I guess), but I think that the way they've managed themselves and that they basically make the same bike "but biggerer" leads me to look at other options.
I had a 2014 SR. I'm sorry to say that bike wasn't impressive in terms of build quality/reliability but the current-gen SR/F, SR/S and DSR/X have come a long way. The batteries are bigger now (17.3 kWh). Whether they'll last longer I can't say but they do come with a 5-year, unlimited miles warranty. I'm regularly getting 120 real mixed riding miles with my 2020 SR/F since Zero did a factory warranty battery swap on mine, or about 100 interstate miles here in Florida. I've currently got more than 23,000 miles on mine. I'm still happy with it. If I was buying tomorrow, based on the current EV market here in the U.S., I'd probably go with a Zero SR/S. The LiveWires are cool bikes and initital quality seems great but the batteries are just too small for my riding style. My biggest knock on Zero is they still aren't offering DC charging. But then again, no one in the U.S. is currently offering both AC L2 & DC now that Energica is in bankruptcy court. Good luck with your search and if you get a chance drop a comment on what bike you ended up getting.
@@EVRider I'm interested in the Verge and Fuell, but I'm not intersted in being someone's guinea pig--definitely not buying another bike on spec. Did that once, and it cost me 15k for a total of 900 miles. It's either Livewire or Zero for now... It seems that I will have to wait through this year to see what '25 will bring me for options. Thanks for the reply!
As Elon Musk said, ""Prototypes are easy, production is hard." Fuell announced bankruptcy in October. It's too soon to know whether Verge might make it. As for the rest, if you want anything with 100+ miles of range here in the states, LiveWire and Zero are currently your only real EV options.
@@EVRider Which is why the new ride is going to be a Zero SRS. Gimme that full fairing, at least that something! I'm planning to try to hang on for a while, but we'll see how it goes. I have hopes.
oh, so very helpful, and well done. Thank you. /sub
Thanks for the compliment and watching EV Rider!
I own two 2016 ELR’s, white under 30k miles and black performance under 40k miles. Also have a Gen 2 volt. Do you still have your ELR, if so I would love to see a follow up with any issues or battery degradation you may have noticed. There are now several companies that can rebuild/ replace individual bad bays of cells or even the entire battery. I love these, just hoping the electrics don’t become an issue.
Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore. But they are great cars. You have 2 true modern classics! When I sold mine it had 60k miles. The battery was degrading, going from an average of 38 miles per charge to 30 miles per charge, with the range extender regularly kicking in after about 25 or so miles.
i wonder if zero is actually profitable.
@sunsinger970, Zero isn't publicly traded so that info isn't available. However, Zero has been in business since 2006, and Zero is closing in on a new funding round for a little bit more than $120 million, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, so I'd hazard to guess private investors think its viability remains decent. Nice build but such an ugly look.. hate the box look for the batteries..
Keep in mind he was showing off the battery box frame. According to Shandoka the battery box frame has mounting points for styled componants that customers might request.
@EVRider that's good to know, thanks!
I really like how when I went to comments, I saw the creator replied to most all of them. Even a few dumb comments and did so very respectfully. I'm actually looking to trade my truck for a jeep. Haven't made my mind up if I'm going gladiator or wrangler. Hybrids are interesting and you answered many of my questions in the video and one's not were answered in comments. Think I'll sub
@halffast1850 Thanks for watching EV Rider. Good luck deciding between the Gladiator & Wrangler.
I enjoy you putting him on his place letting him know is the quietest wrangler! Lol 😂 great intw!
it has no suspension at all? WTF? also how much does one of these cost?
Correct. No suspension. I bought mine used about two years ago. I just checked, current price for a new one: $1,379 plus shipping.
An 2 years later?"?????
WE have been waiting.... I have NOT been called. What is happening?
As far as I can tell Eli hasn't made any progress toward its U.S. import plan although the website is still accepting U.S. reservations.
i was looking at a used rubicon hybrid but read that the battery needs replaced every 3-5 years at a cost of 2 grand , the time frame seems a little to much to me ...
@what1864 Somebody gave you incorrect information. Jeep warrants the 4xe's battery for 8-years or 100,000 miles. If a battery were to fail during that time period Jeep would be obligated to do a warranty replacement.
@@EVRider that is great to know , sounds much more reasonable , thanks ....
