or take the lock & latch off the door, mark the frame with lipstick, a small Sharpie or literally any tool that fits inside the hole in the door where the latch goes and be done.
+Jason Stewart, The P87 tool was designed to be used on both latch bolts, deadbolts, drop bolts and electric strikes. The new P24 latch bolt strike plate location card, or the new P62 or P63 deadbolt strike plate location tapes are much easier and faster to use . lol I'm a non-pro and could just use a spade, and know w here the strike plate would align with the lock on the door, way too complicated and talkative like everyone else said. also robotic or monotone voice. disliked!
Has anyone ever done this? I am a DIY'er with rental homes and installed more than a dozen doors/plates never gone through such a crazy process.
is this the state of the art quantum physical method door knob installation??????

Lmao put some dye or caulking on latch , close the door , close the lock , thatll mark a point on frame
Or just take the measurement from the bolt to edge of door and transfer it to the door lining/frame
Exactly
The assholes that hung my doors needed this, not me. They were about half an inch off center of the latch bolt
what is a punch point
i guess nobody knows how to use a measuring tape anymore.
There's no app for that. Lol
You realize that this way is better than measuring because it's exact and leaves no room for error.
Waaaaaaayyyyyyy too much talking. Holy crap!
You can say that again....
I think I need a little more detail....,,,,,,,,,,
Can you send me the diagram so that i can print my own for free
Ahahahaha
LMAO
I don't see any tools

This is the hard way to install strike plates.
Far too complicated and talky for what seems to be a useful tool.
Wtf lol this seems counterintuitive, doesn't everyone have a tape measure at home?
