  • Version 1.8 update for the MC-707 GROOVEBOX, MC-101 GROOVEBOX, and VERSELAB MV-1 adds a host of requested features to your instrument. In this video, Zeale walks through the new enhancements for each instrument as well as how to import clips and new Production Packs.
    New functions include undo/redo plus clip import, export, and save. Clip compatibility between the MC-707, MC-101, and VERSELAB MV-1 means you can load clips straight from an SD card, then save and share between units or with other MC and VERSELAB users. There are also three brand-new MFX to embellish your sound-Exciter, Phonograph, and JD Multi-as well as support for pitch bend, hold, and other MIDI CC recording options.
    Expand your sound and clip library with new MC/MV Production Packs. These top-shelf collections of clips and sample-based tones designed by Wave Alchemy will expand your sound library or jump-start new ideas for songs. Each Production Pack contains 48 custom tones, 50-plus drum one-shots, 16 kits, and 64 clips-with clips organized in groups of four for building 16 custom scenes.
    If you’re an MC-707 GROOVEBOX owner, you can now set the key and scale of your project. And there’s a multitrack mode for Pad Note.
    If you’re an MC-101 GROOVEBOX owner, you’ll find a game-changing partial editor for creating compelling tones directly from your MC-101. Plus, you can set the key and scale of each of your projects.
    If you’re a VERSELAB MV-1 owner, this update includes a powerful random tone designer for quickly creating interesting sounds from a variety of algorithms. The update also adds another much-requested feature: vocal take panning.
    And that’s not all. Find more under the hood when you download the Version 1.8 update.

      I’ve had the 101 since it came out, and I don’t know how to use it. I’ve watched a bunch of videos, but I can’t follow what they’re doing in the instructions. They go too fast and go off on tangents.

      @Colin Reese I went through the same thing with my verselab but after many tries of just playing with pads/knobs and watching some TH-cam videos, I slowly started to get it and now I pretty much know all there is to know about it. Hope you didn't give up cuz I think you will like it once you start getting more familiar with it.

    First of all thanks for the update! There is still one very important thing that would be very useful to MC707 users, especially using the device in a professional way: The possibility to mute tracks 1-8 but not the send FX on the master when using multitrack recording via USB in the DAW. This way the master track could be used to record the wet FX only (This is possible on the Elektron Digitakt/Syntakt for example). Right now, you can only record the tracks without Master Effects which is a pity or the whole Master without having the opportunity to process tracks seperately. It would be very nice if this suggestion is forwarded in case we can hope for another update. I have read from some users on youtube, social media and forums who were wondering about this. Thanks and have a nice day.

    • @gladstone3532
      @gladstone3532 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could not agree more with this comment. The ability to multitrack record with fx intact would be a huge improvement and you would imagine, not so hard to implement!

      yeah the 707/101 were originally marketed as Zen-core products same as the jupiter X/Xm, but now they seem to be floating between Aira and Zen-core, which is a little confusing and not seeming hopeful for any modeling engines to ever get added :/

    Loved the 1.8 update and everything about it for the MV-1 Verse lab, but this update removed the ability to browse drum kits from the note mode and audition them before loading them. With 1.8 I would have to go to select section mode then browse kits that could not be auditioned, load a kit then go to note mode in order to audition and if wanted to use a different kit I would have to stat the process all over again. Needless to say I went back to 1.4 update because to me 1.8 was a workflow deal breaker. I hope this can be in the next update or as a bug fix.

  • @bullfinchallen8297
    @bullfinchallen8297 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a MV1. This update is a step in the right direction but Ive reverted back to 1.4. This is because the kit sounds on my SDZ files now wont play, and, you can no longer audition kits in the note view which really slows down the kit selection process and makes it really laborious.

  • @VacancyOfDisco
    @VacancyOfDisco ปีที่แล้ว +2

    FANTASTIC! Thank you! one tweak perhaps, in the multitrack mode, if you change the note from C4 to anything else via step edit, you lose the step indication light. Can this be adjusted to remain on? it would make programing melodic hits, tuning kick drums, etc easier without having to jump in and out of multitrack mode

    Well, some progress, but still not the game changer we expect.
    1. diskstreaming!
    2. step sound preview
    3. make full use of all the 24 knobs for a specific track (MC-707) !!!
    4. we need a lota more clips in a single project, 16 per track is ok but way less adequent from a complex set.

    • @VacancyOfDisco
      @VacancyOfDisco ปีที่แล้ว

      great suggestions! i've been thinking about the 24 knobs thing too. or better yet being able to use all the knobs for what ever track is selected....or even global edit for all tracks (adjusting all the reverb sends, decay lengths, pitches, etc with a single knob like on Elektron Digitakt and the like)

    Thanks! That's a great update especially for those who have 2 or more of these 3. As someone who got a MC-101 and a MV-1, I absolutely appreciate the new clip exchange feature.
    One request though, could you add trigger conditions to the MV-1? E.g. the possibility to have notes trigger only during the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th time a section plays and/or only during odd or even times (1st, 3rd, 5th or 2nd, 4th, 6th)? It should only affect the consecutive play of a section and not the overall count in a song.

      Hey I've been looking into getting a 101 or a verselab but can decide which. I have a tr6s at the moment which would pair nicely with the 101 but i feel like if I got the 101, I might have preferred to have got the verselab instead as a more complete piece of kit. How do you find both instruments compare?

    • @Flava_Clown
      @Flava_Clown ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@corranjames5063 As a short answer, if I had to sell one of them, I'd keep the MV-1.
      Looking at the current prices for both (Thomann, for my region) it's €499 vs €599. I think the MV-1 is "more bang for the buck".
      7 tracks vs 4 (not counting the vocal track which is somewhat special, but not limited to only vocals)
      Of course there are a few things which are better on the MC-101, like scenes. Even if you have the same amount of clips (16 per track) you can combine them freely, while on the MV-1 you have only 16 sections (sections are like scenes, a combination of clips/tracks, but they are fixed in place, if that makes sense)
      The MV-1 might render your TR-6s useless. Then again, you could record the TR-6s to the vocal track (if you don't do vocals/use acapellas) and use it that way.

    My biggest gripe with the mv-1 is the insanely low volume (if you export mixes). Even using the onboard mastering it is just so low. WOW I was randomly checking if the MC-707 had an update & BAM this video was uploaded 5 mins ago!
    I think the MC-101 tone partial editor was the best out of everything.
    I was really hoping for sequences longer than 8 bars...Come on #Roland make it happen!
    This 8 bar limit is why I can't use the MC-707 as a serious Jam-box...that's what the #Akai Force & the #Squarp Pyramid is for.
    With such a powerful synth, what sense does it make to have a short bar limit in a modern sequencer?

      Yes now they added sidechain to Zenbeats finally, please also add to the MC line.

    Could the next update include the option to turn the stereo send into individual 2 mono sends? It seems like a missed opportunity having these analog outs not to have this option. Oh and something a bit more ambitious: some kind of macro control of drum tracks, similar to the SYS-control on the tone tracks. For example that you change the decay on the hihats, pitch on the kick, and the filter on the snare, all with one knob. That would he amazing!

    Hello! Is there a documentation for all new features? Both Owner's Manual and Reference Manual describe only the old features, and for 1.8 firmware I can find only the videos from different youtubers. How did the people in these videos learned about these new functions?

    is there a way to set the note length without rolling the encoder multiple turns...like pressing the step and while holding that step press another step to define how long the note will be. (on the 16 step buttons)...also maybe this goes away from the design philosophy of holding shift to get bigger value increase...but in the case of note length i think 1 step per encoder click without shift is much better...and finer detail with shift+encoder would be more easy to work with. I mean it is nice to be able to set the note length in such detail down to like a millisec ...but that is not something i need most of the time :D

    Seems like there are quite some bufixes too and it looks like some of them address the numerous timing issues on the Mc707. I hope this update does really fix the looper sync, scatter timing, ... I'll have to check first because it's not explicitly written as such.

    • @mudi2000a
      @mudi2000a ปีที่แล้ว

      It also introduces new bugs. E.g. clip button does not light up when you push it.

      @@mudi2000a true! but just tried out the new FW and I am positively surprised. I seems like the stability has been improved greatly. The mc707 runs as midi slave perfectly now. The looper timing is fine, the scatter too. Also now you can automate looper knobs with the motion designer. And the motion is copied when you copy&paste a clip.

      @@ionianechoes cool, need to try it out! I tried to sync with a DAW in the past but I had always timing issues and needed to

      @@mudi2000a previously i had it as midi slave and i needed to delay the clock of the rest of the system by 77% in order to achieve sync. Now it runs perfectly at 0%

    OK I’m actually glad to see Roland doing some type of tutorial videos on the product instead of just throwing it out there and then other people have to do it my question is is there a software that works in conjunction with this for a desktop or laptop. Because that little screen to look at is horrible no one’s doing that

    In the next firmware in the tone parameters....Can you please reset all the LFO's and step LFO's when the sequencer start (send a "KEY TRG" to all the LFO's, or reset the all the LFO tables when the sequencer stops) so we can get the same melodies when using the step LFO on pitch every time we hit play (without using the "KEY TRG" parameter in the LFO settings).

    • @manne3d
      @manne3d ปีที่แล้ว

      also if you get the LFO reset on sequencer start to work, what about a few new modes in "KEY TRIGGER" (in the LFO parameters) maybe call it "STEP" or "NOTE"...advance the STEP LFO one step per triggered note...maybe also a "HOLD" mode that will sample and hold the waveform of the selected LFO until next note trigger. So LFO "KEY TRIGGER" modes would be "OFF", "ON" , "ONE (no loop, LFO only one time)" "STEP (only for advancing the STEP LFO, maybe also with a reset time interval setting like on the TD vdrums)", "HOLD (sample and hold the LFO waveform on each new note trigger)"

    When are we going to get a dedicated MIDI track type where the volume slider can send a CC (default #7 volume). Using a Tone track with the slider all the way down is just kind of dumb. I can’t believe this feature would be that hard to implement, but what’s an MC w/o true sequencing of external gear.

    I still need to to do 30 turns on MC 707 to change high frequency of ANY EQ settings to go from 5000 Hz to 2000Hz , even with using the shift button or pushing the encoder to “speed” things up …20 seconds to change EQ setting , ridiculous…so hard to fix Rolland right?
