Annapurna is not a publishing partner for Control 2, the deal allows Remedy to get finances to self-publish the game, while Annapurna will use the IP in films and TV series.
Enotria ceo last march made a statement that they are not working on an xbox version and they are not planning to until release. So that might be just a pr stunt just before the release date for publicity
@@Klodhvig Hopefully, who gives a shit about an expansion of a LiVe SeRvIcE game.
It's plain to everyone that sees the shitshow that is in the AAA gaming industry. The industry puts so much stock into these DEI ESG woke journalists. Which I refer to them as hacks. These companies are not listening to the fans and they're listening to these hack journalists that are supposed to be gaming journalists but all they care about is politics.
Let's not fool ourselves. Concord didn't fail because it wasn't ready. It failed because no one ever asked for a paid version of Overwatch.
Someone put the full Borderlands movie on TH-cam and it took over a day for it to get taken down. It got almost 1.5 million views and one of the top comments was "I want a refund"
Holy Fuck 😂😂
I find it obnoxious that movies and tv are still considered a classier art form than video games. Staking on reputations earned during the NES era, porting a movie to a video game is often given a lackluster treatment and marketing, while porting a game ip to video is a cultural achievement. This has little to do with your comment. I guess more media is a good thing. But this all seems like the history of the printing press, when novels were considered trash media because words were for political or religious purposes. Then you had the novel miraculously achieve the most illustrious status in the 20th Century, with authors being given a cultural hero status they still enjoy. I reflected on this a lot while writing a book that I realized I was only writing because my future ex-wife wanted me to do it. So, tangents aside, if anyone wants to tell me that a RDR movie would make for a better experience than playing the games, I would be glad to disagree in advance.
All of that said, Remedy adaptations, done correctly, could be very interesting. Far more interesting than a Japanese 'Like a Dragon' movie, whose time and resources should be dedicated to making more games. Another exception being when a good tv product like Fallout or The Last of Us gets people buying consoles and experiencing these experiences for themselves.
/rant
@@factotums I think it's fair to say movies are classier because it's a matured form of media that has been perfected. I do think games have far more potential. But even if you take some of the most profound experiences in gaming, they almost always have some excess bullshit that needs to be filtered out. People haven't properly learned how to tell stories THROUGH mechanics yet, so most games are either purely mechanical, an interactive story with no gameplay, or a game and a story forced into parallel lanes. There have been good attempts at telling stories through mechanics, but often they end up as pretentious "artistic" games.

I can definitely see how Sony made such a wild miscalculation. To a corporate pencil pusher, Concord looked like the perfect investment: A game that uses all the things that have been popular in the past with a story that takes after Marvel, which they also see as very popular. They can't possibly conceive how this failed, but it's really no surprise to anyone who actually plays games.
It does seem like they threw popular words I to a hat, and pulled out:
"Hero Shooter"
"Guardians of the Galaxy"
"Realistic Grsphics"
Let's make our character as ugly as possible because sweet baby told us more people would buy the game
You could literally put all of these generic "Working" Tags from other games, put them in an AI Generator, and get Concord. Some gross amalgamation of unfocused, ugly, bland, generic slop that gets pulled in every direction until there is no identity or personality left.

The Enotria devs announced just a few hours ago that thanks to their community and Phil Spencer they were finally able to get in touch with the Xbox team and will be bringing the game to Xbox as soon as possible.
Sometimes you need to draw the public’s attention to a problem in order to get it fixed. This is a perfect example.

If you told someone that there would be a live service game that flopped so hard that it wouldn't even be able to see its 2-week old bday. They would think you were being overly dramatic.
Not surprised. "The Culling 2 in 2018 and was removed from all stores one week after release due to almost completely negative reviews and no players. "
More surprised a AAA developer didn't blindly keep plugging away under the dellusion... but then again it took them 2 months to make the same realisation most gamers figured out instantly.

@@boxhead6177 so the joke is that the original commenter said it didn’t even make it two weeks, and a period of two weeks is called a fortnight.
Nah Concord's entire life cycle fit into This Week in Videogames 💀
What am I missing? Why can I (a simple gamer) predict all these AAA flops years in advance with 95% accuracy while thousands of professionals drown in their delusion and slowly erode the entire industry?
Because those "professionals" tend to be foreigners to actually playing games, to say nothing of developing them, and are too high up on the corporate ladder to listen to reason.
Also why some small team of regular joe gamers bootstrap cash to create a decent indie game, and can either have a decent sustainable game that gives a good ROI, or hit it big if they have the magic sauce. No big bloat, your really sensitive to most reviews, your playing other games yourself outside of the niche so you bring things in from outside, your other devs have games they play which are niche as well, if its a team right out of the right college you have a modest collection of a good range of skills and techniques for very low wage costs, and very low opportunities for out of touch double bind managers who want to take credit for every good thing regardless of their input or lack of it, and disavow negative publicity regardless of their input or lack of it. Basically the very opposite of our hierarchial corporate system, where there's a huge D/s findom culture. Apparently what makes the best gameplay is young creative people who treat others equally, who aren't too greedy, who are humble enough to take criticism as a learning opportunity, and are willing to work collaboratively with others who do things differently.
Ah, creativity, the bane of every large corporation everywhere. Playing it safe, into the grave.
Concord isn’t just the biggest flop in video game history, its the biggest failure in all entertainment history when you look at development time, money spent on dev tech, cost of employees, office spaces, and marketing. They made a measly $30,000 on PC. To put how bad that is into perspective, a mid-size office generally costs around $35,000 a year to just pay the utilities. Firewalk has around 150 employees, and a mid sized office holds around 100 people. That means that this game didn’t even pay for one year of utilities at Firewalks office, let alone the rent on that building or the pay for the employees.
Source? No way tgis floppedcharder than Duke Nukem forever,

Basically, if they totally remove it as a product, and refund all sales. Aka, make it so that it doesn't exist and they haven't made any money from it.

It makes you wonder how many players Concord actually had on Playstation. It's one thing to see it bomb on Steam, but there was always the chance the Playstation numbers were enough to keep the game afloat for a while. For them to can the game shows even the PS audience was pretty abysmal.
It really is unprecedented to see this happen so fast.
The common housefly has an expected lifespan of 15 days. Concord couldn't even outlive a housefly.
I left video game industry about 18 years ago, still in touch with many of the insiders. If you could NOT predict games like Concord will fail months prior to launching - then you are not a good at developing games.
1). You have focus groups, testers, beta testers, and whole bunch of feed back sources that can predict your cash flows and life cycles of a product, especially with a $200 million product - somehow they failed on this.
2). There is NOTHING special about Concord...no new mechanic, no new concept...its an average FPS that has standard of play already set countless times in the market. Why would this take 8 years to develop? I sense some serious cash and resource mismanagement there.
3). More and more I look at the situation, I realize that the developers and marketing team at Firewalk Studio are simply talentless idiots...but the CEO was good at one thing, he SOLD HIS COMPANY TO SONY just before this game launched. That, I give to him...he is a smart guy.
4). What surprised, and concerned me, was many of marketing and development staff at Firewalk were there for more than 4 years...that is kind of unheard of, especially where the studio was located (Washington area). Most of developer/marketing related professional stay with the project for about 2~3 years at the most and move on to new project. I feel something is odd with the dev process.
The game was only in active development for 4 years not 8, it started being stalked about post overwatch, it was just a concept for 2-3 years till like 2018-2019 but the rest yeah.
Damn, Blue Protocol getting canned sucks. I was looking forward to that one.
Honestly Amazon would've either way fucked it up with shitty monetization as soon as it had launched.
I was wondering what ever happened to Blue Protocol. Been a while since I heard any about it. One of those games that would probably have done better in the west.
@@muzamilnabinadroo Right. Because Blue Protocol's monetization definitely wasn't an issue without Amazon's involvement...
I have half an onion in my fridge that lasted longer than Concord.
It’s so nice to see live services crumbling the past year. Not using your wallet is the only way to send a message to the soulless shareholders
SkillUp is one serial crossword puzzle away from being the NewYork TImes of gaming.
