    Great video! I just recently purchased a GoPro Hero 11 Black, super excited to start making motovlogs. I am a salesman at the dealership you bought the Navi from, I was off the day you came in. We should go on a ride together this summer, I can show you the great riding Mountain Maryland has to offer!

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Woah small world! I’m definitely hoping to make it out that way again next year. I never realized how nice it is out there until I came to pick the Navi up, but now I’m itching to do a weekend of riding up there 🤘🏻

      @@LifeOfBurch Zach, the guy you bought from, left the dealership to pursue another path. He’s a great friend of mine. He would probably be down for a ride too. I just followed you on instagram, shoot me a DM and I’ll give you my info.

    I appreciate you putting the good vibes and information out to the amateur wannabes. I'd love to be a moto vlogger. I love riding; I love exploring and finding new roads; and when I can't, I love watching videos of other people doing it just for the feel of the missing experience. I feel fairly confident in my camera ability, but I know nothing about editing. I haven't fully committed to buying a GoPro yet, because I feel like I need to learn the tricks first instead of just going in with filming. What program do you use to do your editing? Do you do it all on a laptop?

    Have you run any set ups that also included having a Cardo running? If so is there a way that they camera can pick up wht you and the person you are talking to on the cardo is saying?

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, not yet. I’ve actually never run any sort of communication device in any of my helmets. But I’d imagine that the only way to get clear audio from the other person would be if they had a separate mic recording in their helmet and you overlayed the audio when editing.
      I’ve thought about trying to use a 2-channel wireless setup in mine and Nina’s helmets so that both of us are mic’d and recording to the same camera simultaneously, but haven’t had the chance/need to test that yet.

    I recomme using a battery pack and plugging it into the mic converter. Then you can literally go for hours (I did 5 hours once) :)

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve put thought into that before, but decided it wasn’t worth having to add yet another thing onto my helmet. Battery life is important, but there’s rarely a time when I’m filming for over an hour without stopping anyway. 45 minutes was juuust too short 🤏🏻

    • @Foodgeek
      @Foodgeek 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifeOfBurch I don't put the pack on the helmet. I just keep it in my pocket and have a usb-c cable going to the converter. Well, now I switched to the DJI mic, which is awesome :)

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ain’t no WAY I’m tethering a cable from my helmet down to my pocket 😂 I’m jelly of that new DJI mic though! I’ve heard great things about them and almost pulled the trigger myself after seeing some of the reviews! If I ever upgrade to go with a 2-channel wireless setup I’ll probably give DJI a try 👌🏻

    Impresssed with the Chinmount website, they had the chinmount for my “no frills” Amazon modular helmet! (1Storm HB89!), couldn’t believe it! I want it just for filming footage on the road, not vlogging and think the chin is the best (and probably only) place to go on this modular helmet. 🙏👍🏼

      That’s awesome dude!! It’s definitely wild how many different mounts they offer now. When I first got one of their mounts they only had a handful of options, and now they’ve expanded to damn near every helmet out there! 😳

  • @PubRunner
    @PubRunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for that. It’s interesting to see what others are using.
    I just brought a Zoom F2-BT field recorder with 32 bit float you don’t need to set the levels and you don’t get any popping or clipping. I have a lav mic in my helmet and the recorder is tucked in my jacket but it’s the size of the matchbox.
    Any wind noise I take care of with voice isolation in Davinci Resolve.
    The downside is that I am still wired to the recorder in my jacket and I keep loosing the little wind sock things.
    Great video thanks again.

    I’ve narrowed my setup down to either the Hero 11, or DJI Osmo Action 3. I’m gonna go with the DJI Wireless lav mic setup.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In my opinion, GoPro is the ONLY option for motovlog/motorcycle cameras! Everyone that I know whose tried other cameras has just wound up back at GoPro for one reason or another. The only caveat is if you’re looking for a 360 camera, in which case the Insta360 ONEX series is the clear winner.
      DJI’s new wireless mic setup is suuuper tempting though! I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, and almost made the switch from my Rode setup to see how it compared!

  • @calebmoore7079

    Do you do any audio production work on your voiceovers? I suspect you'd be able to remove some of the lower midrange mud the new helmet mic has and get it to feel a little cleaner too. Digging the setup, dude!

    • @calebmoore7079
      @calebmoore7079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Specifically, that chin mount is CLUTCH. I use a GoPro for safety reasons. (if I'm in an accident I'd like video evidence) and I like the cleanliness of that install!

    Hey Burch,
    there are Y-Adapters for charging and connecting a mic to an Iphone at the same time ;-)

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, but even then I’d still have to unplug the mic every time I needed to playback a video and then find a way to mount a battery pack to the phone mount so I could be charging while filming. All that still seemed to point in the direction of iPhone filming not being the best option for me unfortunately.

    You said you have a GoPro Hero 8. I have a 7. I'm going to try your squid mic to see if that helps. I have everything else I need, but I'm curious if anyone has used GP 9-12 to know if they require that clunky audio adapter on the side, or if there are any seamless setups? I mean, like you, I've gone through seasons of trying to get the audio right and I haven't. So I'm going to try your mic, then look into upgrading the GoPro, but they don't seem to be built for motovlogging, at least not audio wise. I'm curious if there are any other brand of cameras that might have better audio without all the hoopla. anyway, thanks for the vid. I'll see how things go this Spring.
