Pro Tip : If you have the Rx for the Mic 2, you can use Mic 1 for your Helmet, use Mic 2 for the exhaust, then turn down the gain for the exhaust . . . . But it does sound solid.
@@CincyNeid wait so you need both mic and the receiver? So the one that costs like 350? For both of them to work on the action 4? Wahhhh oh dude say less
Quick little tip for when you glue the mount on the helmet. Before sticking it on, grab yourself a hairdryer and heat up the adhesive tape for a quick 10-15 seconds or so... Doing this will make sure there will be no airbubbles or less sticky parts when you stick it on. The kind of tape they use for these mounts get less sticky over time. Even when they are packaged well.. Heating them up basicly makes them brand new again. Last thing we want is to lose our brand new $400 camera when we couldve prevented it by something as simple as this!
Oc: the wireless setup would be awesome for me. Right now I have a fully wired setup in my shoei x15 and I constantly have to stuff wires back in behind the pads. The wireless setup would be game changing
Have you tried Ruroc as well? Would you care to share? I've tried the Berserkr, but that mostly for ATV riding. It wasn't good for motorcycles. Too much wind noise for sure.
For real homie, what was the last RR you tried? Atlas 1.0😂 I have the Atlas 4.0: Raw Carbon. Pretty damn good if you ask me. Way better than an HJC or AGV
OC:C2w, these videos are how I found you. Always loved the setup vids. Your channel production is barnone the best out there. Don't get me started on your camera work. Anyway dope vid Smort4Life
The new audio sounds like it has been through an overly aggressive low pass filter and probably a compressor to bring the levels back up. Your voice is much more clear with the old set up. But kudos for trying new stuff for everyone to see and hear!
OC - always like the idea of less weight with taking away wires. I know it is just a few ounces but for longer rides that adds up FAST. as for how the audio sounds now - I think some time with testing you will find it just right. keep up the fun can't wait to see what the next few riding vids with this setup and see what you tweaked, if anything, after you hear it and get feedback. glad to see you are okay from the wreck and keep up the fun cheers.
I did this with the osmo A3 and the DJI Mic (1) on my Shoei glamster last year. It works great. The main difference is that the mic 1 isn't blue tooth. It still records wirelessly, you just sync to the video/audio separately during editing. It's simple. I have my setup on my channel. Great video and yea, this setup is awesome.
This is inspiring me to improve my helmet setup! The problem is I do more off-road, so wind noise is still an issue with offroad helmets/goggles. Plus I like the convenience of the 1-click recording, though GoPros don't do a good job with that and external mics. I will stick with the wired setup for now I think, but hopefully it works out for you. PS - sorry to hear about running into a car, though it seems like you are OK at least.
Nice set up. I’ve been subbed to you for long time now and just noticed you broke the 1M sub count and gone over, that’s awesome 👍. Glad you were okay after the car incident.👏
Looks good - I prefer minimal wiring - looks cleaner and less to go wrong 👍 My only nitpick would be - why didn't you mount the Cardo diagonally to match the graphics? I'd probably paint or wrap it so it blends in more as well. Also I think a smoked visor might look better than the chrome one but it's your helmet, so do what you think looks good 👍❤ OC
The sound is not as clean as it was, but for a fully wireless experience, it's amazing! Very clean setup. Ordering my Mic 2 today :) Thanks for the 100€ spend 😂
Great video firstly, so just wondering if the camera is Bluetoothed to the RX Unit or directly to the receiver. Also I've seen that the Cardo Edge can pair straight to the Gopro 12 couldn't the pro version do that with your camera?
I like the DJI mic also and it does sound good but still not better than a wired mic. Even with turning the gain down I cant seem to get it not to clip, probably because its so close to my mouth inside the helmet. Nothing I can do about that but wait until they make it smaller I guess
Sounded good to me even when you had the visor open. I also love their Star Wars helmets but too bad they didn't have a 3x option as the 2x is just under the size of my fat head. OC, and the wireless is much better imo as I ride in all weather.
I like the wireless setup just to stay water night. But I had the same problem as you at the end. Turn the camea off and loose the mic when when turn it back on. Bummer.
Great setup sounds great and no cables, I have a question Do you have microphone 2 paired via Bluetooth or do you record separately and then pair it? If you have it paired via Bluetooth, do you have the gain on the transmitter and camera at -12? Regards and thanks
Hmmm, I'm looking at that camera to replace my gopros. And that mic setup has me rather interested because my new R10 helmet I don't want a camera on. But I can put the camera on the bike, especially on track and have the mic in it helmet...🤔
I have ny DJI attached to the right side of my helmet. I Bought the XL DJI magnet and glued it to the out side, I then run a lave to the front while hiding the cable. I do that so if I take my helmet off I can just disconnect and continue to record or pick up exterior sound just by unplugging. I think I'm going to permatily attach an XL magnet on the inside to put the mic with out the Lav inside.
My riding/recording style is to turn the camera on for a few minutes, then off at places of interest without having to stop at all. Does the wireless mic remotely turns on when powering the camera so that the audio comes from the wireless mic 2 or do you have to tuen both devices on and check the screen to see if it's actually picking up? This has been my question and biggest concern before upgrading to the action 4 or 5Pro with the Wireless Mic 2. Thanks for this video and it's content. I hope you can answer my doubts. Regards and ride safe.
Sadly there’s not enough room in the chin area of a Shoei RF1400 for a relatively gigantic DJI Mic. It feels like I’m trying to fit a shoe box in front of my lips and I end up with the dead cat inside of my mouth. Very uncomfortable. Regardless, I still get plenty of wind noise with that mic. There’s another limiting factor too: the DJI Mic’s battery is too small. If I don’t remember to charge it after every ride, it’s likely going to die during the next ride. This is why I have to ride with an external battery hooked up to my action camera. On long rides I even have to replace the external battery which is 10,000 mAh. It’s annoying. I am dying for a helmet manufacturer to finally put a DJI or GoPro camera in a helmet with a Cardo comms system as well. Feels like motorcycle helmets are stuck 15 years in the past.
Wireless is dope! Now I know the setup I want to do on my Shoei X-15 helmet thank you! Curious, how is the fitment of the Ruroc does it run to big/small compared to their sizing chart?
The Mic 2 transmitter is pretty thick. Won’t fit in my X15 since it is really close to your chin/mouth. Will fit in my R10. Won’t fit in my KYT KX-1 Race.
Hi, really helpful set up video but… I have the Ruroc Atlas4.0 and Atlas 4.0 Track (great helmet). I attended the launch of the EOS and having tested it, it is annoyingly loud.
Hello Chase, I would like to ask for an advice since you are a master in these things. Do you recommend using the purple panda mic within the cheek pads with the dead cat on or just outside with the dead cat on? I am asking this as I cannot find a proper position for me. If it is outside with the dead cat on it picks some wind, if it is in the cheek pad with the dead cat on near my mouth it is sounding a bit quieter and I may have to shout. Which one is what?
I don't know exactly who it is but in one of the videos i saw there is a magnetic tape available maybe u should use that for your mic i will edit it as soon as i know who it is. Edited it is Marc Stones u can see it in his motovlog setup there is more items involved like remote for camera and button sticker for camera.

Hey Chase! What editing software do you use?
OC, i like the wireless setup
Have you tried the DJI Mic 2 with your insta360? I’m assuming that’s an X4 on your bike handlebar.

What frame rate are you shooting in with the Action 4?
Thanks for the video as well. Love the helmet!!
Always shooting in 24fps!
Helmet + Visor looks sick but audio isnt as good as before i would say... Dont get me wrong its not bad but the old was superior
Definitely, but having the Action 4 actually be waterproof on the helmet is great. It's more for convenience than audio quality.
Yep totally agree here. I'm still on the fence if I go back to the old setup. This one just makes it SO EASY to get decent audio.
Love the LN tshirt
What editing software do you use?
Did you use gain assist with the Rode wireless pro or did you dial in the db manually on the transmitter?
Where do you get the piece that mounts to your helmet?
Are you using a hight performance battery for the DJI, like an equivalent to the Enduro White battery?
Been tempted in switching to this setup - means a total switch from all my GoPro’s..?
or get the media mod
Question: Do you stop your Cardo music when you’re recording? I have a very similar setup to yours and my initial testing found music would bleed into the recording. I hate having to stop the music every time I want to record but couldn’t think of a work around.
Im not able to really record and listen to music at the same time but sometimes I will. Never had problems with hearing the audio in my mic.
is the stop and start recording synced as well on the cam and mic? i don't want to keep checking if both and mic and camera is recording/not recording
How long does the battery last on the mic?
