New 2024 Toyota Tacomas ARE NOT SELLING… Here’s Why!

- Why aren’t new 2024 Toyota Tacomas not selling? You mean to tell me, people aren’t interested in spending over $50K for a 4 cylinder midsize pickup truck? You mean to tell me people aren’t buying into overpriced pickups made in Mexico? And you mean to tell me, people aren’t buying into Toyota’s new woke-culture BS? Hmm fascinating.
We saw it first with the new 2022-2024 Tundra, people haven’t wanted it. It’s overpriced, offers a complex smaller displacement motor and comes with a slew of issues. Toyota is no longer the king of reliable. Sorry fam. People are voting with their wallets… and they’re saying NO to this 2.4L 4 banger Tacoma. Hard pass.
Did I miss anything?
Thanks for watching as always. Please consider Liking and Subscribing for more videos of me shooting you straight. I won’t fanboy or simp for the brand. I woke you all that!

Sorry I misspoke a little toward the end… I’m thinking the new 6th Gen 4Runner TRD Pro will be $68-70K… since the new Tacoma TRD Pro will be over $65K. The 4Runner is generally just a little more… crazy.
The 4Runner TRD Pro will be starting at 70k, not less.
All of the dealerships in my neck-of-the-woods are loaded with vehicles. It don't matter what manufacturer. The prices and interest rates are out of most people's reach. A far smarter purchase would be with some kind of appreciating real estate.
@@LivingRetirementisn’t that just insane? Smh 🤦♂️
@@UntamedMotors I had a 23’ Trd pro 4Runner in magnetic gray that I put just barely 8000 miles on it that I owned for 8 months, traded it in for a 24’ Trd pro 4 runner. It makes sense because they need wiggle room to sell your trade in.
Failing reliability? Corporate greed? Lagging sales? Toyota is getting more American by the day.
It's ironic because American brands are becoming more like the old Toyota we all know and love.
a conspiracy can be that Ford and chevy have forced toyota into this so they can sell more units lol.
The resale value of vehicles is high so they are charging more for vehicles to offset the difference, but the higher prices end up sitting on the lots longer!~

@@foxgoodI saw a brand new ridgeline black for sale at a dealer ship in my area of PA for 43k fully loaded, the base price for a trd pro Tacoma is 65k basic trims I see for 50+. Put the pipe down 😂🤡
A $60,000 truck with a 4 cylinder engine worth about $1,000. Nope.
Frontier with a naturally aspirated v6 is almost $30k cheaper. Does Toyota think tacoma owners just got a huge pay promotion? I plan on replacing my truck in the next two years so hopefully they would get their act together by then as those prices are out of range of practicality.

Welcome to Biden’s America

They also said Biden didn't dictate gas prices while shutting down drilling and refining.
Toyota taking the V-6 out of the Tacoma and the V-8 out of the Tundra was a HUGE mistake.
Exactly! They have no idea what America wants! I want a 6-cyl diesel pickup and or a diesel land cruiser with a solid front axel. Independent suspension sucks.
And no one wants half electric as well!
Toyota doesn't want to use them. It's the Feds forcing emissions rules on them. Toyota sells $10k pickups in the developing world that people would happily buy in the US if they could, but the Feds won't allow it.
As a 2020 Tacoma owner , the 3.5 is a gutless motor and gets subpar gas mileage too. It has to be tuned to have any type of power. Jmho

Toyota is building it cheaper in Mexico and selling it for PREMIUM 😂
If trump gets back in he will tariff every vehicle coming across the border so much that they will move back to usa
Dealership greed backed by Toyota itself!
It should the other way around. A discount for having them built in Mexico.
Going to be honest I prefer my Tacoma to be build in Mexico than USA. Car manufacturer unions are crap and it reflects on quality.
San Antonio plant has pride. They took the assembly of the Tacomas away.
$10K is not enough, more like $25-30K I'm glad people are not buying.
At least 20 grand
I love seeing people not buying overpriced trucks and cars. It’s about time the general population says “We have had enough price gouging and getting cheaper products for more money.” Go suck an egg @Toyota. I used to love your brand and was loyal but now you are just like any other American brand.
And and….the 4 cylinder turbo doesn’t get a significant MPG increase. I’m questioning the logic or the amount of greed that caused this horrible decision? It sounds like pure greed and a big middle finger to everyone who praised Toyota the past 4 decades.
@@Slammingutz The crappy engines are because of the EPA. All the companies have to to do it. Still should be $35K loaded.

America should get rid of dealers that do price gouging and let the people buy directly from the manufacturer.

Tesla does that but a lot of Teslas are sitting on lots and not selling. I guess the EV thing was mostly hype….

The Tacoma was a reliable, simple truck for regular people. Now they are packed full of tech and features no one needs and are loaded with emissions crap. No thanks. Keep it.
Mexico has 42 car makers in the country with around 500 different models being produced there. Its one of the best industries for automotive manufacturing. Whats wrong with that? I understand the sentiment due to less jobs in the USA but offshoring has been ongoing for decades. Newsflash, Toyota is not the only car manufacturer moving their assembly lines to Mexico. Companies like BMW, Ford, Teslas have all done this. Offshoring to Mexico was primarily triggered by the tariffs on China.
Mexico is the "New" China.
Triggered by unions not china. No cars have ever been made in china!
Big corporations save on tariffs and labor in Mexico but still doesn't reflect on the sale price.
Ya they save money in Mexico on labor and then raise the price on us by 15k from last year. You don't see the problem with that? It's a mid size truck that's priced between 50-70k after dealer markups.
It was my dream truck.... I'm not interested anymore. I bought my house 10 years ago for a little over 100k, no way this is worth almost half of that.

And and turbo 4 Cylinder and the cheap seats….the seats are noticeably cheaper and less supportive. Don’t take my word for it, go sit in a new taco….the interior is cheaper.
@@Slammingutzthose new interiors look like shit
I bought a Ford Ranger built in Tennessee and 10k cheaper with side boards, big digital screen and 7K lbs of towing capacity
I have the Ranger also love the turbo I have the Tremor lariat. I test drove an older taco with that V6 what a POS it was. Too slow and no power unless it got to 8k rpm.
I’ve owned fords and they all sucked!
I rather have an older Tacoma then be found on road dead😂
My '24 Ranger Lariat was about $2500 cheaper than a comparable Tacoma TRD Sport. I was a tough decision: I wanted the 6-speed manual transmission and power moonroof, neither of which is available in a Ranger.
I have a 2017 gmc sierra that was built In Mexico.
What a disaster!
Transmission redone .
Both front wheel bearings.
Rear light harnesses.
The ceiling lights over the windshield fell down .
Plus plus plus.
What a disaster it has been.
Small town dealers will struggle to sell them because the market is not there. Go to larger city and people are willing to be slaves to car payments. Sad.
$50,000 for a truck and they put a prop rod under the hood.
Haha right!? Sums it up well.
The thing that floored me is that on a loaded TRDOR you get a little plastic skidplate in the front and a temporary spare tire.
My son was in the market for a new truck. He originally wanted a Tacoma. He saw the prices and pretty much said nope. He ain't poor working as an engineer for a Fortune 500 company.
He should get into sales. He could afford one of these Tacomas if he did!
That's why you need to stop buying a truck if you only go to work in a nice air-conditioned office. sitting in a nice chair. A truck is meant for farmers, miners, tradesmen, mechanics, plumbers, etc. It is for people who need it not for people who just want a truck just because they got money
@@pinoyrunningpenguin I love driving my $80k truck to my office wearing my freshly ironed Carhartt clothes and Redwing boots. I don’t do blue collar work. It doesn’t pay enough.
@@pinoyrunningpenguin Um, I use mine on the regular for home chores, and do not use it for "work". If you own a SFH having a truck is priceless!
Is there no longer a SR model below the SR5?
I own two well-maintained 4Runners. A 2008 SR5 Sport (145K miles) and a 2011 Trail Edition (124K miles). Other than a recent new alternator for the 2008, I have had zero issues with either of them. I will keep them both until they or I die.
Nissan Frontier is the best midsize on the market right now
I would buy one tomorrow if they made then in a manual shift.
$44k for a new frontier crew cab. No thanks!
@@ewxlt35k for them in my area...and Pro4x's for 39/40k
It was actually voted in the 10 worst by consumer reports
@@Eric721. bout as reliable as CNN. Ford, Dodge and Chevy have the top 10 worst on lockdown
Nissan Frontier V6 gas is the new king.
I like to overland and the main concern with the new Tacomas is reliability. How will the turbos hold up when I ford through deep water? How will it heat affect the turbos when you're going only 5 to 10 mph?
Besides the reliability, part of NAFTA agreement is that products made outside the US should be less expensive because of huge tax breaks, no unions, no employee benefits, no OSHA etc. Manufacturers seems to have forgotten that part. However US consumerism has emboldened them to priced their products as if they were made in the US.
The Toyota dealer in Langely BC Canada refused to let us even test drive a vehicle when they found out we would not be financing through them. We walked quickly
I pay cash. Dealers are stupid.
Hey Untamed, I just test drove a 2024 Tacoma trd off road today and other than the new 8 speed gearbox, I wasn’t impressed. The initial throttle response (low range) was impressive but when I floored the throttle to get on the freeway, I wasn’t impressed compared to the 3rd gen V6 powerband. Noticed the cheapness of the interior with more cheap plastic than the previous gen Tacoma. The hood I could see vibrate on the rear of the hood closest to the windshield on the drivers side and again, the truck literally felt like a four cylinder that was out of juice when I got on it at freeway speeds. I know advocates like TRDJon, robmotive, and the TFE crew (among others) rant and rave about how infinitely superior it is to the “old gen” 3rd gen Tacoma but I’m not feeling or agreeing with their enthusiasm about this new platform. I guess I’m not drinking the same Toyota Kool-aid as they are, nor am I politically obligated to the Toyota higher ups as well. Love my 2022 3rd gen TRD PRO Tacoma and maybe I’d change my tune if they dropped the price(s) to a realistic MSRP but I know I’d be drinking the Toyota “Kool-aid” ad well. 😳
I agree with you. The seats and interior are cheap. The engine is gutless when you attempt to merge onto the freeway. It’s an all around overpriced cheap (Mexico built) bait and switch from the old Toyota trucks.
TrdJon is a joke
Those big guys like TrdJon won't say anything negative...they care about making money...they could care less about getting the truth out.
@@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN Very true indeed. I know they aren’t gonna sabotage the bed there sleeping in per se but users like TrdJon opinions seem artificial and “fake” to me; which is an annoyance in reality.
@@deantrainr they seem fake because they are fake. As far as TrdJon goes, he's an idiot, he traded in his 22 Pro for a 24 Offroad...how stupid can someone be..
Nothing but sheer GREED
In fairness it's not all greed on Toyota's part. Toyota has also had to massively up wages and benefits to its workers thanks to Union threat/negotiations.
Greed? Toyota and its dealers are allowed to ask whatever price they want for their product. It’s their property. In turn, you as a consumer are free to not spend your money with them. They aren’t forcing you to buy their vehicles, nor do they owe you one for whatever price you want. Supply and demand. 5th-grade economics.
I have a payed off 2017 3rd gen V6 Tacoma. Not even hit 100k miles on it. I plan on keeping that truck till it dies or rusts.
Thank God I got my 2023 gladiator Rubicon eco-diesel fully loaded for just a little bit more than that SR5 window sticker lol almost out of the diesels, but did you have some gas trucks left over on good deal still. Nothing will beat that gladiator Rubicon with solid axle off-road
I've had 4 Tacoma's since 2005. I am on my last one. They lost me as a customer over pricing, and these changes to the engine. Yes yes, more power etc. But not for me.
Me either it's just gotten so ridiculous I'm not buying a house it's a damn mid size pickup truck
Feds are forcing this with emissions and efficiency rules. Toyota sells $10k pickups in the developing world that Americans would love to buy, but we aren't allowed. Feds.
I'm doing my part. I'll never buy one of these super expensive, low quality Toyota products put together with plastic and felt.
So how long have these been sitting?
Tacomas are selling like crazy where i live. Thanks for this info! it might be time to make a road trip!
I have read comments from some people defending this pricing as being commensurate with inflation. Perhaps, however unless income rises similarly, it’s a moot point because people can’t afford these.
Jacking the price on a Tacoma TRD Pro from $50k to $65k is NOT inflation, it's GREED.
Toyota isn’t feeling the pinch yet like the American 3, but they will soon! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes
Why are these trucks so huge? How do you get anything in or out of the bed?
