Good video. Yep, I like my Videomic NTG, it is pretty versatile. It is a bit too prone to distort though,so you need to be careful. Also, on certain cameras it works better than on others. Now, I do not have the Videomicro II, only the first iteration, but I have picked up an open box Videomic Go II for cheap. They sound fine, but you need to pay attention to mic placement. In your echoey room, if you cannot soundtreat it, you should move the mics from the camera and have them as close to yourself as just possible. Depending on the room, underbooming might be better than overhead booming. I often underboom here as it is easier to have carpet behind and pillows around the mic to dampen echo and isolate other sounds in the room. When closer to the ceiling, there is quite some more echo and all sounds in the room (wallclock, fridge, AC etc) are way louder.

Greatly appreciate the feedback! This room DEFINITELY still echos, and it's something I believe I may finally have figured out how to tackle going forward. But as far as the mic placement, I fully agree. This video, as well as most, I simply use the shotgun mount but I am looking to switch to an arm mount so I definitely want to compare the over versus under methods. I'll let you know how those go!

Amazing how much better the NTG sounds compared to the video micro II. Best of success with your channel.

Great review. Thank you. Nice backyard. I'm in California and we don't have yards like that. What state is that?

@@josephgallolaw465 thank you! I’m out in Florida, the catch is we can’t do much to the yard because it’s a protected “wildlife sanctuary”, popular thing down here to prevent building I guess.

@@Novice-Media It's a good thing that people can't do much do it because it preserves the natural look. Thanks for the video. I'm going to get the Rode NTG.
