    This is brilliant. Even as a beginner with an iPhone and a wireless lav, the CM30 is streets ahead. One improvement I've made in my set up is to put the wireless lav on a mic handle so can be in front of my mouth rather than on my shirt.

    This mic is crazy good, jason! I ordered it the night before i supposed to shoot a wedding, got delivered 4 hours before the job didnt have a chance to learn a damn thing about it but just relied on my basic knowledge about electronics in general and hollycow.. it didnt not disappoint me at all! lots of micro adjustment since i am a solo shooter and i always try to do too much and be at different spots as much as possible but it just worked out wonderfully!😮‍💨 glad i got this, because my dji mic2 for some reasons stopped recording the bride and groom🤦🏽‍♂️ at the beginning of the ceremony and yes, they were on 32bit float independent mode too! ill upload the film once its finished so people can judge for them self. i wouldnt say its perfect but its a really good shotgun mic that id trust for paid video works👌🏽

    Thanks for taking the time to make this great video. I purchased the VM30 recently and still can't quite achieve the results you're getting, even direct wired. Any tips on proper setup? Are you running your audio through post?

    I run the Comica VM-20 hooked into a Hollyland Lark 150 to give it a wireless connection. If I dudnt already have a setup that works I would definitely go for this

      How do you like there lav mics? I've been using the DJI Mic and I know the DJI has more features, but I believe for the budget, the Comica wireless lav mics offer great quality because I need a few of them. What do you think?

    Funny question, but how does it feel to hold? I can see that you hold it gently and with only a few fingers as if to indicate you don't want to press accidentally any buttons. Can you hold it boldly without regard to position? Its sound is very good.

    Man you have to give a work shop on how to use this mic. This doesn’t have the warmer boom sound that I appreciate. However, I am sure you could do some process in post. I am searching for a mic for my sound. I may grab this to give it run and see if I like it.

    I give it points for the price. Someone recently came up with a nifty little shotgun mount attachment you can clip the DJI wireless transmitter onto. Choose which mic you have, Deity D3 Pro in my case, and if you want it shipped or $5(US) for 3D printer schematics to print yourself. Same idea as above, but at a fairly different price range.

    Thanks for the video! Being able to have wireless headphones would be even better. Could you add that too or would that signal interfere with mic's?

      Deity just released their pocket wireless system and they work with their existing wireless ecosystem so you can get an HD-TX wireless XLR transmitter/recorder and they work together. Been trying it over the last few days and this wireless works very very well.

    Hi there, thank you for the review! I was wondering if the 24bit sampling of the microphone is referred to its maximum capability or it actually has some internal pre-amps that give you 24bits no matter what. I'm asking because I would pair it with a Lumix S1H which has only 16bit audio recording internally, so if this gives you 24bit with preamps it would be a total game changer. Cheers!

    Hi, Jason. I bought a Comica VM30 microphone, but please tell me, isn't it a stereo microphone? how do you record stereo sound on a camera. There are two microphones on the camera, but not here? There is also a smiley face 20, it is stereo in the description, but I did not see the difference.

    5:20 Q: So this transmiter is 24bit. If You clip between mic and transmiter, there is a chance to recover it from Your 32bit recorder? (Tascam Portacapture X8 user here)

    • @masadamofu
      @masadamofu ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe he meant to connect the shotgun direcly using cable male to male to the zoom recorder

    • @FlyingJackalope
      @FlyingJackalope ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@masadamofu You also have to make sure that the receiver doesn't introduce RF interference into the recorder so make sure they are far enough apart to avoid that. I have tested it with two of these mics and you gotta shield things from the signal. You also need to make sure you monitor this audio constantly as the mics cut out a lot if you are moving. If you stay still they tend to be okay.

    • @masadamofu
      @masadamofu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlyingJackalope yup and I just check the price andd.... I still think the safer route would be using "DSLR Shooter" way of wireless mic, since it's safer having separate piece rather than built into the mic it self but CMIIW

    • @FlyingJackalope
      @FlyingJackalope ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you clip before it reaches the recorder it is still going to clip, it will just be clipped and 32-bit float. Meaning: if it sounds distorted coming into the recorder it will record the distortion.

  • @FlyingJackalope
    @FlyingJackalope ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Man, they are really pushing this mic. The wireless is very buggy. I had two and sent them back. I would never use these in a professional setting. Way to easy to have RF interference and dropouts. The mic itself is pretty nice though. But the wireless needs another generation.

    • @lincolnviana2398
      @lincolnviana2398 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, can you tell me more about? Just bought one

    • @FlyingJackalope
      @FlyingJackalope ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lincolnviana2398 You can't really walk around or the signal will start to break up. The OLED on the mic needs to be pointing at the receiver. If you cover it up in any way your signal will be affected. If it gets near another wireless transmitting device it will potentially create a little ringing sound, etc. way back in the audio from the RF interference. The signal blocks pretty quick from physical objects too. It will work fine if you are setting up right in front of the camera and just don't want to deal with cables. But just make sure there is nothing else wireless near it. In some cases if you put the receiver too close to your camera you will also hear the RF interference in the audio signal. This can happen with a lot of devices so it is not necessarily unique to this one.
      The mic does have a lot of self noise as well so there will be some work to do in post. Not huge as many mics have that issue.
      It's a fantastic concept and I have been waiting on this for quite some time, but I just don't feel like they have worked out the wireless just yet from an interference standpoint.
      Definitely conduct your own tests right when you get it in case you need to return it. For some people it is going to work fine.
