It's really cool seeing cast alumni tell their side of the show. It really makes the show more appreciative because of all the hard work of the cast and crew.
It’s a rare and beautiful thing to see Will Farrell out of character.
I appreciate the commitment really. The reason he's so funny is that he's always doing a bit. If you never turn it off, it just comes as easy as breathing.
Not when he's bitching you out for having to keep his car an extra day because the parts were late.

This was as funny as it was heartwarming. What a great guy.
Will is the man. Amy Poehler's book talks about how Will really did do this. They were on during the time of 9/11 and it really was bleak in their office (and in the country). She thanked Will in her book for being such a goof to keep spirits up during such a hard time. I'm loving this series.

Will Ferrell is probably one of the few comedians out there who are hilarious in their work and even when they don't exactly have to be funny. Not only that, but he has such a great comedic mind that he can come up with so many characters, some of which don't appear on SNL or films at all.
He can literally just come on screen and I start giggling… Kristen wiig has that same thing

Vulture does a feature called something like "Saturday Nights Children" and it's spotlights of the cast that were on for a little bit as well as the heavy hitters. It's what their life was like and their time on the show. It is so fascinating!

Will Ferrell will always be remembered by me as Alex Trebek. The best and most funny incarnation and a gem in SNL history.

I'm struck by the authenticity of Aidy Bryant's interview where she discussed the intimacy and quiet of her non-show life, versus this where it sounds like Will Ferrell never turned it off at all. Interesting to see how different comedians think about their work.
If Will wasn’t in the entertainment business, he’d likely be unemployable.
He actually is a board-certified cardio thoracic surgeon.
It’s amazing to me that for decades, they were so good at finding super good young talent, and now all of a sudden they don’t have a clue.

Such a fearless performer....Will made that era of SNL so distinctive and unforgettable. One of the most talented people to come out of SNL, yet still very invested in his work to this day.
i remember his ron during the outro. he looked like a serial killer to me, like a character out of a horror movie.

This is a long comment. Very worth reading.
I had a friend growing up with whom I was in a band with our other best friend. He was hysterical and out of his mind in the best way and kind of embodied who Will Ferrell is and was. These stories in this video make me happy making the comparison and I wish I was there to see Will Ferrell do the same. Just incredibly comedically genius but you never knew what to expect.
My friend would do very similar random stuff with outfits or costumes he’d find at thrift stores or like his closet and just show up to our houses.
Two of my favorite ones was this cream colored three piece suit and strawlike fedora and a cane kind of like an old plantation owner with some ridiculous southern name like I don’t even remember-I’m gonna say ‘Churles Weatherferry,’ (or a character also called Jubilation Higginbottom) cause that’s roughly close enough…and would just say to our PARENTS and not break character when they answered the door “I am here for the boy.”
That and he found this pirate costume that was way too small and would wear two eyepatches he’d lift up to see, as Captain Meatcleaver and would go to my house and my girlfriends house and just annoy our birds trying to awfully train them to be his like parrot.

And I remember he would just incessantly annoy our friend purposely cause he would get the most rise out of him and frustrate to all hell but also make him crack out of that annoyance.
Like we went on a trip and he PURPOSELY sat next to him and sang that Macy Gray song completely wrong lyrics for like an hour. Or press dumb questions like “Jason, why have you stolen my the moon?”
I met up with them after school one day and this guy, our friend had been at our other friends’ house and I walk into this…
He was sitting at his desk, refusing to get up and doing this Russian accent character thing. And was cutting up all of our friend’s like video game magazines and books he had no use for. And was making this like conspiracy theory oak tag board, he called “The Communist Wall.” And it was half insane KIND of socialist-y statements made with words and pictures like a ransom note piecing these things together. And then JUST the right amount of whatever ridiculous funny juxtapositions he could find that was very immature and silly sex or bathroom humor kinda hidden in there. And then like 🤣 MADE HIM hang it up. And the compromise was “in the walk-in closet”
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard. Especially cause he was like in a trance doing this. And then something would get pasted to this board and we’d be half perplexed and shocked and half dying of laughter.
Watching this made me think of that dude’s antics and growing up being friends for the few years I was with this guy. He never ceased to make us laugh and would commit entirely to whatever character or bit he was doing. A lot like Will Ferrell.

True, that's literally impossible given that Ferrell was already born almost 20 years before Kaufman died, but THAT is how good and committed he is. The reincarnation is so strong it defies basic linear time.

Will Ferrell hit a note of comedic genius on Zoolander & he never came back. Despite the pressure of being on SNL, it's not surprising to see he's the guy behind the scenes who never took himself seriously.

Whay did i see and expect "stories from the SHOWER"?
Will went on Letterman early in his career, when he was taking off and there was a buzz around him. I remember being excited to see him somewhere other than SNL. He came out and played it as straight and bland as possible, the audience was stunned into uncomfortable silence. At the time I thought “wtf was that?” but later on I realized he was doing a bit - maybe he even called it “seriously unfunny talk show guest”. Genius... it must have been very difficult to not break during the bit, since the stunned silence was what he wanted.
What a great series. Keep it up.
