fastst1 the next step is going into a kettle to cure the rubber that was just put in. It cures to about the same texture and consistency as the rest of the tire
tires like this are easily in the 4-5 figures but besides the cost, time is where patching those is worthwhile. Usually those tires aren't laying around in a warehouse and are delivered via overnight so expect delivery times of a week or more, and thats where ultimately repairing them is saving them money.
Not sure about that tire but a new cheap tire from China for our log skidder was 12k, in the end run it was cheaper for us to buy a skidder of the same model with a blown engine than it was to buy new tires
some patches and smaller rubber spots can be done chemically, larger ones are done with heat either from a large heating pad or in what is basically a giant pressure cooker
You have damaged far too much ply on that bias tire making the injury. Bigger than needed.also always cut out the separation out before buffing the area around it.if the separation goes past fixable all your buff time has been wasted on junk costing u big money
umm... why not leave outside ply alone and just patch inside? seems as though you lost integrity of tire by gouging out the outside... by the time the weight of machine is back on the tire it will mash the "gum" out as soft as it is..
Legend has it that the customer is still waiting for his tire to be repaired. 🚴♂️ (And the shop sold him a new one for $4000 to keep his equipment running.)
And this, kids, is why you study hard and take more math, because otherwise you'll have to make your living doing hot, nasty, dirty work like this. And after breathing in all of that carcinogenic shit all day every day, you'll live to about 40.

generally it is worth the cost to repair, there are also other patch types that are less time consuming to install.

What does the stitching do?
you need to apply mechanical pressure so the rubber adheres and cures properly, if not it comes out looking like an aero bar
nicely done
Would there not be a soft spot in tire after that soft outer repair
Pretty sure that the soft material chemically or heat cures into solid rubber
