I don't often comment because I'm not sure I have anything important to say but I just wanted to thank you for the time you and John put into sharing your love of firearms. I get more enjoyment out of these videos than I probably should lol. Your enthusiasm is highly contagious.
I'm seriously jealous of your personal range. I'd love to have something like that, even if it was half that distance.
Mr. Hickock45, I absolutely love all of your video reviews; they are very well done, practical, and informative. Thank you for your contributions to the shooting community, and keep up the great work...life is truly good!
I had my grandfather's Winchester model '94 38-55 carbine which was manufactured in 1912. As I have no children, I passed it along to my cousin's son awhile back. That makes it his great-grandfather's gun. He never had the opportunity to know him, but he will carry on the legacy of owning that gun, and hopefully pass it along to the next generation.
When I saw your videos about the Marlin STP Trapper 45-70, I had to watch them! I bought one of these same STP Trapper models around ten years ago or so and have never seen another until I saw your videos! I've seen similar Marlin rifles with a slightly larger lever loop, but never the same STP Trapper model. The STP Trapper is obviously a very uncommon model. I'm considering switching out the fire sights for a rear peep sight and a black blade front sight. My 65 year old eyes don't seem to be working very well with the fire sights, but I seem to see a blade front through a rear peep sight well enough to hit most stuff. This is one of the neatest Marlin 45-70 lever guns I've ever had the pleasure to hold!
As always great clip, I love the no fuss, humour filled clips you really are an awesome example of a gun owner enjoying the things he has earned in life, keep them coming.
The sound of that action in slow motion is beautiful!
Mr. Hickok45 I enjoy your videos, I just purchased the 1895 Marlin SBL 45-70. I can't wait to take it to the range.
Who in the world could dislike this video?? Those last 3 rapid fire on the 2 litre bottles were fantastic.
I love the sound of your neighbors shooting guns in the background
Great video. I have an 1895 CB chambered in 45-70. The CB model has a 26" octagonal barrel and I have a tang sight on it. Used it for cowboy silhouette shooting. Also shot a good sized elk with it last year. Got tired of stalking those elk decked out like a SWAT Team sniper and decided to do a more traditional hunt. Was really a great hunt and that 45-70 dropped that elk like a stone in his tracks. What a great rifle that Marlin is.
the man that invinted the lever gun was a genius!!!!
BY FAR my favorite gun in your collection!! (So far)
You post some great videos. I am a Canadian long time hunter, shooter and general gun nut.
You portray shooting for what it can be, great fun!
i love the noise that lever makes
" always need to keep excuses handy... never know when you'll need them" gotta love hickok45
I have an old-ish(late 80's I think) Marlin that was passed down to me from my father. It has no recoil pad and the recoil is immense, especially with the hot-loaded rounds I sometimes shoot out of it. What a beautiful gun, so accurate too.
love watching you shoot hickok, thanks
boy does that knock over those plates with some authority...love it !!
I'm glad you got this baby back out. Been thinking about it here and there since the last video.
Glad to see you drag the STP back out, I had my STP out a couple of weeks ago... with the XS Lever Rail and threaded ghost ring with a williams threaded peep insert it was banging steel at 400 yards.
Have to love the .45-70.
@JaguarSBA, Wow, glad I found mine for half of that.
I LOVE lever-guns. Thanks for posting.
"Thank you for your contributions to the shooting community"
very well said
That's one neat little gun. It can definitely reach out and touch. Thanks for sharing, take care.
Hicock for POTUS.
that is one bad boy gun, 45-70 trapper. thank you marlan and hickok45
+ssgn6 It's definitely a lot of "thump" in a small package!
@MrRussian19, Until about the 80s, almost nobody had these "assault" rifles. They are mainly just fun toys for those of us not headed for battle. :-) Leverguns, bolt guns, singleshot Sharps, etc. are some of the coolest rifles out there. Ask around and see how many private citizens were killed last year in your state because they were packing leverguns instead of AK or ARs. :-) That said, AKs and ARs ARE lots of fun!
Love those Marlin 1895's with the .45-70 round.
i think this is the nicest gun you have ever shown mr. hickok45
@powbobs, I've been hearing that. I understand that these were made before the switch-over.
Believe it or not but this could be my favorite video/rifle. Something about the Marlin. Perfection.
I love your lever gun videos, especially the .45-70
It's funny to see how different the range looks in these older videos haha, keep on shootin' Hickok!
@usernameuneeded, Thought we were going to be doing a video with the Stoeger Double Defender; however, it has problems that Stoeger can't seem to fix. We never got past just trying it out, much less doing a video. It fired "full auto" almost every time we pulled the trigger. We sent it back, but they did not fix it. It then fired "full-auto" EVERY time. If we get the gun back, instead of our money, we'll be doing a video with it for the ATF. :-)
really enjoy these vids man, keep it up!
Beautiful rifle, I'm a big fan lever guns. Great video!
@MorrisseyRT, No, it's chambered for only the .45-70. Huge difference.
that looked like a lot of fun thanks
@harriet807, Well, Marlin's been making leverguns for well over 100 years. They are classics, provided their new owners have not ruined a good thing. Some people seem to think so.
The Henry rifles seem to be well made, but I don't know much about them. They are a relatively new company.
@Jake93r17, Well, actually, it might not be perfectly straight-walled. It's not necked in any way, but I think there might be a slight taper from the rim to the case mouth, but barely noticeable if there is.
Not even considering the accuracy and skill you possess, your vision alone must be outstanding!
Nice shooting and beautiful rifle!
I have the 1895 SBL and it shoots like a dream, the damn thing is alot more accurate than I thought it would be. Great video buddy, I love to see someone shoot these types of rifles. I use 325grn hornady leverlution ammo in mine and I can almost cut bullet holes with it.
Watching the slow-mo, about as much dirt flies as does soda! I think I need a 45-70 next time I need to dig some post holes!
Ur lever vids make me happy! :)
The slow mo section of this vid is like watching a part of the Terminator movie :D Just badass destructive and brass ejecting sight with badass metallic sounds :D
Awesome Video. As always way too much fun
Happy new year bro and all of you out ther
I love shooting lever action especially the 45-70
one of the best lever-action rifles by my opinion....
Love to see the lever guns in action. Defiantly want a 45-70 in stainless. Have the Marlin 1894 in blue in .44mag. Its nice to share cartridges with the Super blackhawk. But the 45-70 reminds me of the old west when a man was truly free. Its a serious piece of kit. Thanks for the great video Hickok and Big John.
@obeyance Agreed. One of the best channels. I know not of many better things, than coming home from work late(security) and sit down with dinner and a pot of tea watching a old or new H45 vid. Then i know that life's good.
Greetings from Danish guy in Russia.
great shooting, really enjoyed the clip on the marlin 1895 stp thanks keep up the good work .....uk england...cool
Dagnabbit Hickok. Now you made me go out and grab a Marlin 1895SBL. I was able to look 2 of them over and I couldn't resist.
Now, to become employed as a guide in Alaska and the dream will be complete. ;)
Wild Bill I just love your sense of humor !
I have a tree farm where I grow Lamina Trees !
33 hectares... I sell to all the major gun companies ! they just love my wood ! :)
I thank you for all the great reviews !
Torch
Such an awesome firearm! Great vid buddy!
@WillLemax, Yeah, I just don't like that method generally; it works okay in some rifles, though.
@sjb359, Actually, they are pretty stout loads using IMR 3031.
Sweeet! Fun and educational! Thanks
i love the "we are still not been able to find out where the laminate trees grow" lol
Gorgeous rifle. Thanks for the vid.
NICE GUN!! see that gong swinging at the end?! Nice
love that round. great vid
Ejecting that brass is like ringing a bell! Very cool gun!
I've been considering picking up a Marlin 1895SBL. It may be time to go look for one. Thanks for the vid.
Great videos sir!
just ordered a Marlin sbl can't wait for it to come in
Wow that's a sexy rifle! Yup I think that's going in the collection!!
I am eagerly awaiting a shotgun video sometime soon, particularly a nice little scatter gun but looking at these nice lever guns especially in this beaut of a round will do me just fine. Well done on another video
i just Love that lever gun !
That gun looks awesome an really fun to shoot.
I have the 1895 standard with ghost rings... my absolute favorite rifle. I'd say it's a tack driver as long as you can drive tacks with bullets as big as a city bus! The 45/75 is a re loader's dream if you cast your own bullets!
gotta love the 45-70
Nice shooting sir.👏🏻
@PennJilette, Doesn't work for me except maybe with the 1873. I prefer sticking them all the way in.
i love this gun i would love to have one you sir have made me want one you and you only thanks hickok
Nice little gun there.
i was taking some 200 yard shots at steel with my .50 cal muzzle loader the other day. nothin like slingin a big fat round at steel at range. it's a thompson center arms tree hawk, really sweet shooter as far as muzzle loaders go.
now.. That is a beauty!!
@263584, It appears you are new. This is the second hill, where we do a lot of the rifle Chapter 2 videos.
Oh man, talk about a cannon! I'm lusting after these lever-action 45-70s.
it's a bad-ass looking wood, really good.
Sure like them Leverguns!!! Nice vid and yes, Life is good!!!
That's one beautiful lookin' contraption.
Yep, my lever guns are my favorites.
I always wanted one of those.
lovely gun
I will some day own one of these
Lever guns have always been a blast to shoot, but i have yet to shoot this particular 45-70 in lever action. mostly the sharps single shooter 45-110, 45-70, etc. from a friend whom was gracious enough to let me borrow one from his collection from time to time.
It looks so nice... I want one..
@chrischiampo, I was thinking about chippping off a piece of the stock and planting it in some fertile soil here on the compound. Perhaps we could start a Laminate Tree farm and supply the gun makers from Tennessee! :-)
I love my 45/70. Hickok let me bother him about what he thought I should get and given my list of options, he suggested the 45/70. I haven't regretted a single shot. :0)
I love all things tactical but to be honest some things just warm a gun persons heart, I good lever action rifle and a quality single action revolver are just about the best things on earth :P in fact the first thing i every bought with my own money as a young man was model 94 30-30 the second was a ruger bisley 44 mag.
Showing those 2-liters what's what with that thing was just too cool.
good deer gun, short, but packs a punch, i hunt with mostly a 308W youth model, just because its shorter and easier to walk through the woods with.
good video
Very nice rifle.
Laminate trees, ha ha ha. Nice vid, love those rifles.
hickok you really are "God" in human form, youre camra man shakin the camra yet you hold that .45 with extream stabillity to pick those small targets off nice shootin
Nice looking gun
@jfchattin, It's covered in FAQ videos.
