Did you get the right Miata? Nah, you got the soft-top and not the RF. ;)
If I was go back in time before buying my rf nd2 gt I would have bought it used because I could have got it for 10k less under 5k miles. There a lot of people who buy this and realize they can’t live with it on practical daily use
I passed on the Brembo/Recaro option. Wider wheels and bigger brakes are a must for me eventually. The regular club seats for 2024+ with the suede inserts look and feel good in my opinion.
Club without the BBR package is the best deal. You get the limited slip diff, the slightly more controlled Bilstein dampers and strut brace, and none of the added fluff you don't need. Out the door for less than $35k.
A bit different in the EU, no idea why. There is no BBS, Brembo, Recaro package. It's a part ot the top trim only, so you also get the auto climate control, headlights and stuff. But no adaptive cruise control
I got the GT with the BBS and Brembos in Canada - its a spec you can choose unlike the US. I didnt get the Recaro's though.
Buoght the 2024 Club with the BBR & waited a long time. Versus the GT model. Auto headlights ? Lame keep the cost down I can turn them on. Auto climate control ? Again not hard the do it yourself keep the cost down. The extra canvas in the soft top liner would be nice but I've never had to put in pods or ear plugs & have been in a 2016 Club soft top for 7+ years previously. Color interior choices would have been nice too but this not a high selling model in Mazda's lineup. The fact Mazda keeps the MX-5 alive is amazing & they keep improving it ! The asymmetrical differential / KPC / extra HP with extended RPMs / the new infotainment system / the Recaro seaats all these things have been added since my 2016 Club soft top with the Brembo brakes / BBS wheels. No 2nd doubts here.
I have a 2019 MX-5 ND2 GT-S soft top manual. I got it for $32.5 K brand new. I think it was by far the highest value offering. I regularly do high performance driving and it never disappoints. The GT manual on later models come with the same performance options as GT-S: LSD, bilstein dampers, shock tower braces. I am 5'9" tall and stocky xl shirt size.... car fits me like a glove...no need for Recaro seats. Car only weighs 2350 pounds....no need for brembo brakes. GT also comes with luxury drivability extras for very little extra cost. QED
I didn’t realize the Club had fewer standard features than my base BRZ. Not comparing or flexing, just surprised. I’m with you on the auto dimming mirror. I’d rather flip it manually.
For me the best package is the Club trim without the BBR. I’m out the door at under $35k. The ND3 is my 8th fun car in the garage, and the perfect “easy going” sports car that I can enjoy at any speed. I don’t have any plans to track it, but I have some mild modifications coming. Personally, I think it will be a perfect OEM+ type of car as Mazda has a total masterpiece in the ND3.
Agreed, more dedicated track build than Sport. I like having the built in Bose speakers in the recaros. What I’m not sure is if the recaros have integrated airbags, for dual duty car I think aftermarket bucket would compromise live ability. MSRP delta for base sport vs Club BBR is almost 10k, and that’s pretty nice budget to have dedicated track equipment. I like your point of knowing you are going to drive it stock for awhile, I’m not in a rush to build a track weapon so it’s going to be a slow build for me, and the “stock BBR” is very enjoyable out out of the box. I didn’t really consider the GT since it makes everything more expensive. I’ve accidentally just kept my lights on (and if you twist the little dial on the dash it makes all the screen brighter) and it’s just effectively on all the time, and turn off when engines turns off. Sound deadening from soft top would be nice, I can’t imagine it adds that much weight
Remember that the answer to all questions in TH-cam thumbnails is always a resounding no.
The Mazda name club is misleading. It can be applied to a track oriented vehicle, which would make sense for them to pack it with track oriented components i.e. big brakes better suspension a limited slip and also other components that keeps the weight of the car down.
How does the quieter soft-top of the GT compare with the RF?
No comparison between fabric and a solid material when the top is up, but there is more wind turbulence in the RF cabin with the top down.
@ Yeah, for me that turbulence of an open targa top is a deal breaker, with the extra over-the-shoulder blind spots being a close second factor.
It depends on the intended purpose of the car. You mention that it will be your tack car
My preference is club rf
Buy a tan insulated soft top from Japan for your car! Would look amazing on your red Club.
Mazda should have put the equivalent of Konis with Sport springs on the BBR model. That paired with the other BBR upgrades would make it even more of THE sports car at or under 40K.
Exactly. Mazda forced us to do it ourselves.
Mazda forced us to do it ourselves.
How does anyone know nobody is coming around those curves when making these videos?? My Mazda could use a little exercise but no idea where.
Great video man comparing two of the best analog driving experiences in the modern era! I noticed your love for great steering throughout your content, and we've just made a new guide talking about steering feel that we think you'll like!
Great video! Check out your audio gain, there seems to be a good amount of clipping
Heard that familiar voice, had to do a huge double take before I realized it was MedSchoolInsiders!
medical car enthusiasts! 👊
Looks like a great daily driver car. It's cool looking, has decent power and handling and is simple. What's not to like?
With the right modifications it can make it right on the 4.2 seconds 0-60 mark👍
Very special machine ❤
They're both expensive and slow when compared with a real track car. If you primarily want a track car... get an older radical for $30k and a trailer to pull it. That's the real answer.
Con caja manual, genial!!... 👏👏
When you say the transmission is slow ,it would be nice to know compared to what or by what metric.
slow compare to ZF8 and the Aisin 10 spd in the LC500. it fast shifting only in sport + and at redline when wide open throttle, if you try to short shift using paddle it become clunky.
Both great machines in their own right.
I don’t see any difference when driving this from a BMW. Every part on this car is from BMW & its production is in Austria at the same factory as the BMW Z4’s. Uses every part suspension/steering/drivetrain from BMW. Even when I scan the car I have to use BMW ISTA to communicate with the car. Down to the key itself is a BMW key with a Toyota badge on it
GT4 RS or most caymans for that matter are my favourite ICE Porsche
Cayman is cool, but I'm taking the MT
This video has me debating 6-sp vs PDK for my 718 build... that pdk is insanely fast.... but I want a manual. Wish I could do both.
@@ZlevelS If you want a fun and engaging experience... and that's probably why you want a sports car, why would you ever order an automatic of any flavor?
After watching all these videos, I have developed a strong conviction that manual Porsches and Astons seem to be the best in class for driving enthusiasts. McLarens would also be great if if they start offering manuals again. Great video!
This looks like Mulholland west of Kanam Dume Rd.
Redlines it just casually driving? Hmmmmm, not how I drive manuals. My 2015 Mazda6 manual is begging for a shift around 4500 - 5000 rpms. General cruising below 3000 for sure.
i was pushing it! 😂
How do you like the Garmin Catalyst? I've been thinking of picking one up, but I haven't really convinced myself it's worth the money yet.
not mine, it was the GT4 RS owner's. I have an Aim Solo 2 DL
@@jubbalandcars What do you think about the Aim?
When you push clutch in for shifting from 1st to 2nd, do you let off it slowly, like when you first go from N to 1st? Or it doesn't matter?
Corny copia
Honestly, unlike your other videos, I wasn't paying attention to your comparison. I was just enjoying the sounds, the detailed breakdown of the driving dynamics, the cinematography, seeing 2 Porsche's pushed on track. I could show this to my mates and we could all just watch it on the TV one evening.
Nice! Check out avenue of the giants video. No speaking just driving
Meet around 6? I'll bring some cold beer.
counter kph or mph....anyway ❤❤
Great video! Thanks. When will we see your Miata on track?
very soon! stay tuned
This is probably the ultimate comparison !
I wish these car reviewers spent part of the video driving in regular traffic among average cars so that viewers could get an idea of the size and contours of the car.
My first ever and only Miata is a ‘13 Club soft top in pearl white and I just love the car. I could grab a new one but I honestly like my NC better. I don’t care much about the tech upgrades with the ND’s, RF’s or the ‘24. My NC sort of reminds me of my of my old ‘69 TR6 Triumph. I bought the NC in 2021 and just don’t see myself parting with it anytime soon.
The steering wheel tilt was taken out for crash safety reasons it was offered in the early e36
This is the best modern sport car yet. Manual = Fun No Turbo = reliable and save money on replacing turbo Perfect mix between luxury and sportiness
Good looking car but only die hard Maserati fans (who are ultra rich) would buy one. It’s too expensive for what it offers. There are many alternatives that feel more luxurious and/or thrilling to drive when you spend this much money. Unfortunately in their current form I don’t see a future for this brand.
Z51 felt muted, I would buy the regular more mechanical feel. I think the way the LSD worked was more natural feeling
I can’t decide if I should look at the beautiful car or the beautiful GS. I’m darting back and forth.
Another classic car that’s gonna get molested by a race car driver hobbyist
They won't last long before they break down.
