    After you read Enchanted April you could watch the movie. I haven’t read the book yet but the movie is a comfort watch for me. I’ll have to move the book up on my classic TBR list.

    I am going to re-start on classics reading in 2025. For the past 3 years I have been doing reading challenges with specific prompts, but that required many new books. I am going to alternate classics and fun reads.

    I finally checked out North and South from the library. You have spoken so highly of it since you read it. I can't wait to read it!

    "A Girl of the Limberlost" (1909) is a much forgotten teen/YA classic that I stumbled across centuries ago. As did my Mother.
    Pls give me a thumbs up 👍 if you have read it and would recommend it to Chantel.❤

    I don't think I've read any of these classics, so I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of them. I was planning to do Anne's Reading the Classics Challenge next year to get me reading more classics in general, but then I also recently added a whole bunch of other classics to my TBR for next year that I'll be talking about soon.

      There's just so many classics, it can get easy to get overwhelmed and create a huge TBR!

    Looking forward to seeing what you think of these books when you read them - interesting stack! For next year I want to finish the Count of Monte Cristo which I started back in January and stalled after 300 pages. Beyond that I'm not sure! Lots of options but I'm such a mood reader that I think I will just play it by ear and/or see what fits into the reading challenges. 🙂

    "Christy" is one of my all-time favorite stories. I have my mom's copy and it is a treasure. I hope you enjoy it. I read "The Enchanted April" this year and enjoyed it. I try to read 4 classics a year, one per season.

    I have really fallen in love with reading classics over the past few years!
    I read two Dickens this year, Great Expectations was a 5 star I really liked it. I also read David Copperfield which was also good, solid 4 star. It helps me to listen to the audiobook and follow along in the physical book especially at the beginning when a lot of characters are being introduced.

    I’m keeping my classics as audiobooks this year…I’ve plenty in my audiobook TBR that I already own🫣
    I think I’ll start with Little Woman because it’s been on there for a while and then I’ll see what I’m in the mood for next… Sherlock Holmes collection? Pickwick Papers? Barsoom Collection (I’ve read the first three books with my eyes years ago and LOVED them!)… oh Heidi!! That is a must for me this year!

    Wow that is a cool stack! I'm always reluctant with Dickens, especially with the whole Victorian writing (I don't know how difficult his will be to read)! I definitely want to finish the Anne series in 2025 and the Little Women series (only 1 book left to read!), other than that I just want to read more classics? Maybe try and Austen and some more Bronté?

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay
      @ChantelReadsAllDay  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Brontes and Elizabeth Gaskell are much more approachable Victorian writers I think, maybe start with them and then eventually try Dickens?

      @@ChantelReadsAllDay This year he read Around the World in 80 Days and 20,000 Leagues and will still read Treasure Island. He's also asked to read Journey to the Center of the Earth for school, we will see. Next year we switch to American History so was thinking some American lit but not exclusively. Possibly The Old Man and the Sea and some other short stories by Hemingway. Of Mice and Men, The Last of the Mohicans potentially. Maybe The Call of the Wild or Moby Dick. If you have any ideas lay them on me because I could use help lol. I try and pre-read most of the classics I give him but I'm not a huge classic reader so I really have to push myself.

    I have several classics. "The man who laughs" by Victor Hugo is the one I hope to read in January. I had it in my TBR for 2 years now but I somehow keep putting it on hold 😅
    I have Middlemarch for March and the Enchanted April fir April TBR too.
    I actually got a vook with the month name for each month TBR. I thought it would be fun to start each month with them. 😊

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay
      @ChantelReadsAllDay  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I've never heard of The Man Who Laughs! I would love to hear which books you all have for the monthly picks with the name in the title, that sounds fun!

    • @ChanyeolsHaneul
      @ChanyeolsHaneul 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ChantelReadsAllDay The "Man who laughs" is actually the book that inspired the Joker from Batman. I watched a musical from South Korea based on the book so I decided I should read the book.
      As for my month in the title they are not all classics but the list goes:
      January: "The ten thousand doors of January" by Alix E Harrow
      February: "February's Son" by Alan Parks
      March: "Middlemarch" by George Eliott
      April: "April Lady" by Giles, Earl of Cardross and Lady Helen Georgette Heyer, and "The Enchanted April" by Elizabeth Von Arnim
      May: "Twelve days in May" by Niamh Hargan,
      June: "The Unmaking of June Farrow" by Adrienne Young,
      July: "April May June July" by Alison B. Hart,
      August: "The End of August" by Yu Miri, "August Blue" by Deborah Levy and "The Last of August (Charlotte Holmes Novel)" by Brittany Cavallaro, September: "The September House" by Carissa Orlando,
      October: "October Child" by Linda Boström Knausgård,
      November: "Nice Work, Nora November" by Julia London and finally December: "A December to Remember" by Jenny Bayliss and "We Met in December" by Rosie Curtis
      I also got "Bloody January", "February's Son", "Bobby March will live Forever", "The April Dead", "May god forgive" by Alan Parks They are a series. I had to at least put the January cause is book 1 and the only book for February I had was book 2, but I don't know if I gonna read all of them.

    I don't have a classics tbr, but I would like to get some read. I want to read some Agatha Christie and P. G. Wodehouse. I think Chautona and I are going to buddy read Thorofare by Christopher Morley (he wrote Parnassus on Wheels) in January. I don't know if you would count that as a classic as it isn't well-known, but it was written around 100 years ago.
