This sounds like a lot of fun! I had already planned to read the Emily trilogy and The Blue Castle next year, but there's always room for more Maud 😊 I highly recommend Anna Rose Johnson for a modern writer who has a lot of Montgomery vibes!
In December I would love to read at least one of her Emily books. Sadly, I had no idea that she authored those books until recently and have never read them! Looking forward to 2025 and all of the Maud reading we will do!!! THANK YOU for hosting this!
Yes!! Count me in!!! I absolutely LOVE her books..they are such a treasure! We homeschool and now I am already planning in my mind how we could do copy work from sentences in her books, because there is some really good quotes and sentences in her books!
I was also planning to read more LM Montgomery next year, and I can’t wait to see your videos! I recommend the Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion by Beth Brower, which are super easy to fly through and have a lot of what I enjoy about Montgomery. The first novella is a bit sadder because it’s setting up the difficult backstory of the protagonist, but they are so delightful!
This is such an exciting announcement! I have yet to read the entire Anne series...I'm on book 4...so this will hopefully give me the push I need to finish the series as well as read some of her other books!
I'm in. Anne of Green Gables is my wll time favorite book. My favorite vacation was a trip all the way from Texas to PEI to visit all of the Anne sites.
How fun! I'm always up for re-reading the Anne books. And interestingly, I've never read THE BLUE CASTLE. There are many other books by Maud I haven't read, so I'll enjoy trying to get some of those in during the year as well. TH-cam got its suggestions right this time! New subscriber here! 😊👒🫖
Welcome here! I think The Blue Castle, while very different from the Anne series, is her second most loved. I don't know if I've ever heard anyone that doesn't like it, so I hope you enjoy it! 😊
So fun! I've actually been working through the Anne series slowly the past couple years, so I've read most of them. And I just read The Blue Castle earlier this year. But I'll definitely be joining in with all the ones I haven't recently read! Love LMM!
Great readathon idea! I have a bunch of the L.M. Montgomery books but have only read the first 3 from the Anne series. I definitely plan to follow along!
I'm so excited for this! I've shamefully never read Anne of Green Gables (or anything of Montgomery's), but I recently bought Anne so I'll save it to read with you in January! ❤
I've read the Sara Stanley series as a teenager (well, the first 8-10ish books). But until now I wasn't aware that LMM haven't written all of the books and that the translated books are different from the originals. Two books are put into one translation. Interesting. Just like Enid Blyton's books. Her Malory Towers series only has 6 books originally, but in Germany there are 18 books of Darrell Rivers (or Dolly).
@@ChantelReadsAllDay Yes, that's what wiki told me. But I've read the series "Road to Avonlea" which isn't LMM's writing but features Sara Stanley and adapts parts of the two books you mentioned. And the name of LMM is used as the author.
This is great! I love Maud! I am re-reading the Anne series and have read some of her other books. I want to work my way through her other titles in 2025 and will join you for some of these ❤📚
Love this! I read the Anne series as a teen...so a couple decades ago now. Anyways, so excited to do a re-read. I still have my VHS collection of Anne...can I watch them- No, but I have kept them regardless.
I loved The Landscapes of Anne of Green Gables. Beautiful photography plus lots of info on Maud’s life and the island. This would be a good pick for December.
Oh yes, I got that book out from the library a few years ago and loved it but promptly forgot about it, thanks for the reminder! I may need to purchase that one before December . . .
I was planning to reread all the Anne books next year and possibly do a readalong surrounding it, but you beat me to it! I’m excited to join in! I probably won’t read The Blue Castle or the others, because I’ve read them pretty recently 😊
Yes, yes! I'm in!! And I would love to read some of her journals for December. Or maybe Jane of Lantern Hill. I would also love to find modern authors, but unfortunately, everything that seems like a good fit at first seems to turn out to fall into the trap of thinking that making the stories grtitty/crude is an improvement over anything LMM wrote. Nope, nope, nope.
Blue Castle will be a new Read for me. Its been about 10 or 20 years since I've read all the Anne books so what a great year rk revisit them. Also thank you for sharing your collection of books! Its so nice to know others enjoy multiple copies of the same book in this minimast world🤓
I'm excited for this! I believe it was your LM Montgomery content that led me to your channel in the first place. If not, your Agatha Christie content, for sure. I've read all Maud's books and short stories but it's been awhile. She's one of my favorite authors. I have read Anne books 1-5 recently, the whole Emily trilogy (which I would really recommend, they are my absolute favorite books of hers), and Chronicles of Avonlea, which I really enjoyed this time around. The Anne books have been great, too. I especially loved Anne's House of Dreams. I hope some new people will join and fall in love with Maud's books, too.
I love that it was either Agatha or Maud that lead you here, two of my absolute favorite writers. The only reason Emily didn't make the list is because I read that trilogy more recently.
I think this sounds fun. I hope to participate. But, I have already recently read, "Anne of Green Gables" for my irl Book club...so I am thinking of jumping in on February ("Anne of Avonlea"). I absolutely love the Tundra Editions ❤
I love this!! I've only read the first Anne book and the first Emily book but I've been in love with the Anne of Green Gables for my whole life. I already own most of LM Montgomery's works so this is perfect for reading down my TBR!
This sounds fun. It's been a long time since I read the Anne books. Looking forward to revisiting them. I didn't love Story Girl but maybe a re-read will help me see something I missed the first time.
I also have a collection of Anne books I own like twenty or so! I also have the puffin an bloom and the 100th and the illustrated classic with the pink pages! I also have a 1920’s edition!
LM Montgomery and I share a birthday! Also this year I read Anne for the first time (much because of your love of her). Ending up reading the entire Anne series as well as Blue Castle..loved every bit of it! ❤
I read her poetry and Magic for Marigold last year! (Or did I read her poetry this year?! I don't remember now.) Her autobiography is one I keep my eye out for but haven't come across yet!
