A scupper is a hole in the side of a ship used as a drain. A hose pipe is a flexible pipe. They’ve went straight nuts this year; the quality has been jaw dropping, the videos have been epic and they’ve just been bringing it hard core. Lots of rock that you wouldn’t expect out of them, like Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters, White Stripe’s Seven Nation Army, and Phil Collin’s In The Air Tonight. And the completely off the hook Valhalla Rising. Anyhoo…nice to meetcha and subscribed. And that was a dang good Captain Jack!

Geoff has gotten quite comfortable with G1 and F#1 chest, and F1 down to C#1 subharmonics over the last year. If you missed Valhalla Calling, you might want to be seated for an EPIC 15 second long subharmonic phrase. (I'll choose not to spoil the pitches involved. )

A 'Scuppers' are the holes in the side of ships designed to let water out. They're going to stick the drunken sailor at one of these holes and aim a hose at him. He'll be soaked with cold seawater. That'll sober him up quickly! Love this, Voiceplay rocks!

He played a janitor and named 3 of his clones.... Jeff, Jeoph and Goff. In October he did Ghost Riders In The Sky where 4 of his clones were ghost cowboys. The 4th clone got his name.... Daryl. In Folsom Prison Blues he has Jeff, Geoff, Daryl and Jeoph. He rented a whole prison for it. Matt "Bucky" Buckham was a member of Voiceplay for a short time when they were 4:2: Five. Bucky can also be seen in their mini video.... I'm Gonna Walk 500 Miles.

I do know that Florida State University has a first rate film school. It is a great video to come back on! Geoff did a bridge that was a tribute to Alan Rickman when he was in Robin Hood - I'm gonna carve his heart out (with a wooden spoon no less). A scupper is in general just a drain hole (and a hose pipe bottom would prevent large objects including drunken sailors from falling through but still allow water to drain), but the use of props here suggests they may be using it as a euphemism for the ship's head. If the low notes in this are a bit much for you, Valhalla Calling will mess you up.

Let's talk Voiceplay first. 🙂 I don't remember seeing you react to stuff like Metallica's "Nothing else matters", and sure enough you missed "7 Nation Army" and most than anything else, the sequel to "My Mother Told Me", which is "Valhalla calling. You'd better listen to that while seated 😁. Or have PLENTY of space around you 😅. They also did a stunning version of Radiohead's "Creep". But hey, they've been growing, and they keep raising the bar and outdoing themselves at every video. Like, We think "They can't do better than this!", and they answer "Hold my beer..." 😅😁 So, just choose one you didn't watch yet, and you sure are in for a treat. 🙂 Then, Geoff. You did a cover of his version of "Far over the Misty Mountains cold", right? Well, he released the sequel, "I see fire", from the SECOND movie of the trilogy. Same Dwarves, costumes, makeups... As a ship takes on water from rain, waves, or even leaks, a bilge pump sucks the water out, and the hose goes to the scupper, which is opened to let the hose drain the water out. HOWEVER!!! What is mentioned in this song is a form of punishment still used as hazing in the Navy. (I learned about this from my uncle who served back in the 1960s, but I imagine it's still done.) The sailor has to get down on their belly and stick their head through the scupper, which prevents them from easily breaking away. The hose is then used as a whip. It HURTS but doesn't scar or maim, so the sailor can be hazed and continue working that day. Mostly, it's just really humiliating, especially as the crew sings this part of the song over and over again, so this prank on drunken sailors in times of old is now a fun, mostly-harmless hazing.
