Tried a bunch of apps with no success, then found this simple workaround: when dialing number, add a "Pause" (symbolized with a comma ',') and the phone will display the screen. Changed all my contacts when I found that. Doesn't make a difference for incoming calls, but solves the issue for outgoing calls at least and makes it possible to phone in to a service where options must be selected (i.e. 'Press 1 for X, press 2 for Y...')
100% work . I did that, .calls now works fine and no more black screen...Thanks bro
Plugging in the headphones is a good workaround! The screen never goes black with the headphones plugged in!

Noting may be. no serious. There is only may be problem of screen guard or gorila glass is on proximity sensor. Remove screen guard and buy a proper and sutiable gorila glass 🙏👍👍

My phone (LG-L41c)was going to a black screen after a phone number was dialed ... so I had no options during the call and could not hang up... had to pull the battery...
...covered the proximity sensor (and camera lens in my case) to block the light a few days.(rear camera covered too) allowing no light sensors to detect light and cycled the phone off and on...
then removed the sticker used to cover the sensor (and lens) from light... full functions are now restored !
This will not work with latest phones which has proximity sensor
... I did try one of the (#*# ) type of codes during my fix... (forgot which one) perhaps it kick in later while I cycled the phone... thanks for your expertise

Great tutorial but in my case removing tempered glass screen protector fix the problem with proximity sensor.
sure , was also having the same problem. i removed the shutter glass and walla everything started working perfectly so my suggestion is to make sure the shutter glass is way below the sensors

I sort this problem out by cleaning the proximity sensor next to the camera hole.
If that don't work then try removing the plastic protective film.
If that don't work and you don't want to factory reset, then when you make a call, have your thumb or finger swiping over the sensor so the screens shows up again
** So basically the proximity sensor detects when a user is holding the phone near their face during a call or listening to a app voice-messages.
It turns off the display to prevent keypad presses and battery consumption from the display. The proximity/light sensor is located to the right of the earpiece **
If all of those above don't work then either go into settings and change display to Do Not Turn Off During Calls (not all phones have this option)
And if that don't work then you definitely can try Factory Reset or.....take it to a repairer and fix that proximity sensor issue.

My screen goes black because I have a protective screen.I don't wanna remove the screen because I can break my real phone screen.Does just cleaning the sensor work?

@@rea4749 once a while in a day you can do that and if screen goes black do it with a tissue paper it usually happens due to moist.

For me it didnt work unfortunately. I can disable the Sensor. This then ia also shown in Sensor box.
If i mock the value to 5cm Sensor box still shows a value of 0 and the screen gets black during phonecals.

Not sure what you mean my use official method. I downloaded the Xposed app and did exactly what it said and tried to down loaded the sensor disabler and a message appeared saying I needed version 2

HI all. Just discovered the main reason the Xperia Z5 gets a blank screen when making a call. The proximity sensor is located at the top right next to the Sony name and is affected by the distance to the front glass.
Get a metal ruler and hold it along the top and bottom glass sides to see if the phone frame is bent at all. I found my phone has a slight bow by about 0.5mm out at the front and 0.5mm in at the back. The Z5 is thinner so the frame can bend easier. Keep it out of pockets.

Screen blinking is a hardware issue. I guess it has to do something with grounding...

What about devices which do not support Xposed framework due to having older Android? I can't find any method to deactivate proximity sensor in my Xperia X8 - none of the apps created to turn the proximity off work in my case. Help would be appreciated.
+Mariusz Klimasara ask one of the phone developers on XDA to compile the phone.apk in such a way that it ignores the proximity sensor value. Or else check in ur phone settings sometimes there is a option to disable proximity sensor.
