    the harbour freight gun sounds faulty, that sound is the hammer hitting the anvil unevenly, also the tolerances between the hammer and anvil may be to great were the impact falls on the edge of were it should strike, this causes an inefficient impact. i repair pneumatic tools and change out commercial wheels for Goodyear.

      @@davidstill754 I'm somewhat envious of your success with HF air tools. I was tempted to purchase the Earthquake but with the hit or miss performance I had with their other air tools, I didn't want to chance the high cost. Unfortunately, that's the kind of tool, where you only find out it's not up to par is when it's needed.

    • @davidstill754
      @davidstill754 ปีที่แล้ว

      @65CSX I bought a nice and fairly expensive air gun from Sears years ago. Preformed well for 2 or 3 years and then it quit working altogether. I then purchased another air gun from from Lowes. It was less expensive, less torque and much heavier. I didn't like it from the word go but I needed one so I tuffed it out till I discovered the Earthquake. I was a little wiser about air guns then and the torque specs were way way better than both previous guns.
      The only time I don't use it is during winter.
      It's scared up pretty bad from being drug or slid across a concrete floor but not abused. If it quit working tomorrow, I more than got my monies worth out it and would buy another just like it without hesitation.
      I know I said 6 years but I've actually had it closer to 10. It's been awhile since Sears closed.
      I did recently buy the Capri air gun. HF has one just like it as far as looks go for $99.
      The Capri sells for $179 . In this instance I believe the Capri may be the better of the two but honestly I didn't realize HF had the Capri clone or I may have bought it.

      Not every tool is going to be a knockout however there are a number of nicer HF tools that have met or exceeded brands costing 2 or 3 times more.
      A few examples would be the Pittsburgh Pro breaker bar compared to Snap-On and Matco. The $129 Earthquake XT air gun beating the $700 Snap-On gun and the US General/ICON tool chests being better built than other brands double the price.

  • @ACommenterOnYouTube

    I think these tools are purchased more for break loose torque rather than tightening torque.
    Either way the HF didn't quite do what it said. When it comes to a power tool, these types are purchased based on how accurate they are to what they say they can do. The difference between these 2 could be a nut or bolt breaking loose or not. The HF may not have enough to break that loose where the astro has that extra kick you need to get it broken loose.
    But if your talking a basic drill, a $60 drill will drill a hole just as good as a $200 drill. At that point, does it really matter ?

    Is there really any downside to running impacts at higher pressures does it wear them any or will it destroy them

    • @TorqueTestChannel
      @TorqueTestChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. In general the "cheaper" the brand the more running it at high pressure will usually lessen its life. If you're buying an air impact from a non well known air tool company you're rolling the dice. That said, pressures like 110, 120 or even 130psi are not "high" when sometimes it takes that setting at the wall to actually see 90psi in the tool running.

      Pretty real world though, which is the aim. Do you plan to use an impact wrench without an impact socket?

    • @wrong2h8
      @wrong2h8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TorqueTestChannel Oh no! There are a few applications where the anvil is the socket, such as the oil plug in the bottom of law mowers, but no I agree it's real world. Just stating that you do lose some force, wasn't complaining against your testing. Better than MY setup of NOTHIN. lmak

    Have you ever done any impact ratchet comparison's. Notice the earthquake and aircat 803rw almost are identical, are they being manufactured by the same place in Taiwan? Notice their stubby impacts also look very much alike.

    Not sure what the difference is, and why I should choose one over the other.

    • @TorqueTestChannel

      Just access. Easy to get to some bolts. The normal nano makes more power, and especially now that's it's a v2

      Oh wow, I'm over here comparing the two and the RA is losing at every turn. Now it looks like it losing even more since that Nano got an update. It's smaller by under ½". Since I'm never getting under the hood for anything serious at my job, I'm definitely sold on the 1822 Nano.
      Thanks for the extra info man, you really help me put my dollars on the right horse 👍💯
