I'm Italian and I compete in WL since 2010, so I've seen the landscape changing around... I think one of the biggest thing that helped to propel WL in Italy is due to Crossfit popularity and how it was blended into the pre-existing WL landscape: many CF coaches and athletes connected directly with real WL coaches, competed (and still compete) in legit WL competition and that gave/is still giving fuel for the whole Italian WL in terms of promotion (just as an example, in 2012 if I said "i compete in WL" people would look at me like "wtf?", now they "ah, cool, is it tough right?"). And having WL to be known by the masses helps a lot in terms of 1) funding 2) no. of athlets
Absolutely Fantastic Video, especially on the load and volume coming up on a competition. The original western premise was to deload to recover prior to a competition but many results very day usually to the negative side which did not seem to match the theory of optimal performance. After speaking to both Chinese and several European coaches at the 2003 world championships in Vancouver all of them basically had the same consensus that they kept the load at near the 100% range and only declined the volume in the last couple of days With a point being keeping the neuromuscular tension at full capacity for the nervous systems are ready to carry the load at full capacity. Thank You for all the work and videos you do. They are fantastic teaching tools!!🙏🙏🏋️♂️😊

Grazie! This amazing team gets basically zero recognition in Italy. Thank you for this great interview!
Our pleasure!
How are they financed
Weightlifting gets pretty much zero attention everywhere unless from fans of the sport

Miss this voice commentating at the international meets! Thanks for the great video Boffa & ATG!
Same here. Now we have Sebastian keep saying "oh my" and Maximillian keep saying "wow".

Weightlifting needs more Boffa! Fantastic video, great interview with a coach who really breaks it down.
I really appreciate the sober, sensitive approach here to controlling what we can control.
A real coach. One of the few worldwide!
Italian is such a nice language, i think i might have to learn it now 😅

It's neurological, not related to strength or power. Keeping your nerve pathways familiar with heavy loads is key.

I took me 8-10 years to realize that yes... you need to be patient and consistent for 5-8-10y! :)
Inspiring!
Not going to lie I would pay so much for David Boffa to read The weightlifters guide to the snatch.
Whoa!
It’s no secret. Open heavy.
The last scene could have been avoided
Steps for success.
Step 1. Find super attractive women
Step 2. Get them strong
Step 3. Make Instagram accounts
Yes and then medal will start to rain right?
He is not talking about social media success ! 😂
Could have left the stereotype talk out tbh
