I’m in cooking classes for adults with disabilities, and what gave me courage to join the class was watching without a recipe. I used to cook a lot before I started having trouble with my eye sight. I was so excited and proud when he actually won. I felt so bad when the first crust messed up, but then he actually pulled it off. It was such a rollercoaster of emotions.
I think (and I'm no expert) that maybe he used too much butter in his dough? Which made it shrink and move more as the butter melted? Explains the puddle of butter that the pie weights were laying in

Keith is probably my favorite in all without a recipe seasons. Not only does he like always encourage the other guys but he is super nice and helping when someone else needs help with their dish. Of course the pie baker is gonna take over because she knows more about pies then the rest of the judges. what is taught during lesson vs. what's in the exam
not sure what she was talking about there. 10 minutes maybe to prepare pastry, rest it for an hour, blind bake 15 minutes then you're filling it, bake for however long you need but it's usually going to be 20 minutes or under then it's done.So maybe like 2 hours tops for your average pie.
I think she was maybe including time for the dough to rest and cleaning time? Since she was talking about somebody theoretically making pie at home? It still felt like a huge overestimate

Yeah idk what that lady was talking about, I made two pies for thanksgiving and it took and hour to make the dough and the filling like it is not that hard at all. Pie is the one thing that is hard to mess up with a recipe 😂😂
