Building my own civic, ill steer clear of fiberglass. no wonder my bodyshop barely uses it(except on other fiberglass pieces)
Honestly mate fibreglass 😮💨 but tbh is amazing stuff especially if it’s made well. I’ve done a kit on my previous videos on a 300zx and the fibre kit was mint. But it’s when someone buys a cheaper fiber part, it works out cheaper to buy a genuine part with no modifications. Otherwise the body shop needs to charge loads on labour making fit first hand, then over time goes out of shape from heat.
If the customer want to save get them into the shop to strip the paint and filler or even buy a good shell and transplant his grampies parta on the hatch
Wow so you guys welded patch panels in and then sent it off to get the inner arches and they were welded over the existing rusted panels?
Long story. But the previous garage as a sorry said they would tub the arch’s for him which they have done just left the jagged edge on one side which we trimmed back from inside epoxied and sealed. They wanted the outer quarters on to make the new panels.

Is a car with body filler worth the buy?
Definitely most cars that have had a show car paint job have very fine amounts of filler, it’s just people that abuse it!

Real shame the inner arches are done that bad, should be redone properly. it is worth it in long run. This corner should not be cut. Yeah i get it that is gojng to get more expensive. But it needs to be to be solid the rear struttowers are attached to the shitty bodge job.. surely it going to make south of 200 horse power aith a kswap in it. The rear is going to wonky this way. Not a thing i would want my name connected to.
I know mate was disheartening to see it after all the work started.
The cars worth a lot to the owner, did opt for a new shell but the previous garage offered him to re do it for free. Last time that’s happening!

Guilty mate 😮💨 been using this one for 7 years so she’s my rough hammer! Use it for light stuff as the heads massive so rarely miss and it saves me hitting my hand. Got 2 mint ones for planishing.
