I have a damaged quarter panel that i need advice with. I want to fix it but not sure which route to go. Buying a new car is not an answer i am entertaining in advance. I have pictures and mechanical skills. Please could use some advice.
@danijelfrank the wheel arch is a high contact area for water and moisture. The glue fills the voids where moisture normally could accumulate. So it's great for corrosion protection.
Awesome video. Can I hire you for a project car I’m doing? I need new rear quarter panels added and then a full car repaint. Let me know where I can get in touch with you.
Hey!! Unfortunately I'm fully booked. I can definitely guide you in the right direction if you have any questions though! Direct message me on Instagram
@geoffroyfalot3583 unfortunately yes. The only way to slow it is by using a cavity wax. Or best case, if at all possible, a 2k primer and base/clear to seal it
@AUTOBODYTECH Thank you for fast answer, do you guys usually apply it at the body shop after welding a new panel? I was wondering as I had a rear quarter panel changed on my Corolla iM, last week. I am living in Quebec city and our cars are subject to rust..
Hello, I have a question please. My 2018 Hyundai Tucson has damage on the driver side rear wheel, the panel above that is missing, what is that called?
@justathought6896 if there are still any leftover clips on the car from the molding, most of them will twist out. There might be a stubborn one in the end closest to the bumper you will need a flat screwdriver or a trim tool to remove them. Once they are removed the new molding will clip straight in or there may be a tab that slides into the bumper first then it clips in. Hope that makes sense
My auction car came with about 12 inches of fender indentation. I used bondo glass and then I’ll use bondo to smooth the surface. Is this the correct way of doing it? I’m asking because my rear fender have similar dent like this car From bottom to 12 inches next to door. Did it for the first time so please don’t get mad lol
Yes, it will work. If you can, try to minimize the dent by getting to the backside of the dent and pushing against it or get yourself some pdr glue or a uni spotter. The less bondo the better. Here's a video with some tips th-cam.com/video/U3ufWqx3lbE/w-d-xo.html
Honestly it’s repairable without replacing the panel but for safety and structural purposes I would have replaced the panel as well. 🫡 good work brother

Hi, why is better to apply glue on bare metal around the wheel arches?
@danijelfrank the wheel arch is a high contact area for water and moisture. The glue fills the voids where moisture normally could accumulate. So it's great for corrosion protection.

Nice job! How to paint over bare metal inside a weld where there was a cut?
@denzl17 typically, there isn't any access to paint depending where its cut, so cavity wax is what's used to protect the backside
@@AUTOBODYTECH Thanks for your reply! Have a nice day!)
Doing my first quarter panel by myself today
Nice!! Hope it goes perfect for you!
I’m doing my first one right now too just finished welding today these videos were clutch, helped me feel more prepped 😅

Is the interior parts of the two spots that you're welding, prone to rust?

@@AUTOBODYTECH Thank you once again, love your channel. It helped me big time to understand the process my car went through.
@@geoffroyfalot3583 you're welcome
Would this effect the integrity of the whole chassis? Been thinking about doing this on my Celica.
Not if not correctly
Can you recommend a website to order panels?
@@6007esteban order from your local dealership for OEM parts
What is that tool that youre installing on the wheel studs @0:48?
@snoopy2468975 it's a universal wheel stand/hub stand. It's for access to the wheelhouse area while the car is still loaded on the suspension
@@AUTOBODYTECH thank you!!!
Hello, I have a question please. My 2018 Hyundai Tucson has damage on the driver side rear wheel, the panel above that is missing, what is that called?
Are you referring to the rear side wheel arch trim?
I believe so it looks like it could be bolted in, right above the wheel like an arch. Thanks for responding.
@justathought6896 yup, no problem. You can order a new one from the dealer and it will come with brand new clips ready to snap in
I really appreciate the information! If there would be anyway I could follow up, do you know what tools I need for that? I will also research as well

What's the cost for a replacement left rear quarter panel on 2012 audi tts thanks for the information
@Omegathaalpha i would say about $5000
@AUTOBODYTECH I thank you very much for your time 🫡

Is it possible to remove a quarter panel without cutting?
Not exactly no.
6:31 Can I get information on the clamp product next to the air saw in this scene?
These are the 4" micro grip MG2K. hope that helps.
Won't the steel rust from underneath where it's been welded?
Yes. Cavity wax gets applied to the backside of the welds to protect them

Howmuch does it cost to get a job like this done?
About $7000-$8000
@@AUTOBODYTECH On new parts? what if let's say i have my own panel?
Anyone know what this repair usually costs??
Just went to a local shop $1700 to cut and weld a new quarter panel, no paint, no bumper, no door just the qp. Don’t get extorted for like $5-8k
what kind of spot welder is that?
Pro spot phs-101
@AUTOBODYTECH thanks man 👍
would of thought you'd prime first then seam seal
The seam sealers that I use can be applied over bare metal. You're right. Some seam sealer do need to be applied over primer

didnt sleave the rocker or c pillar. not an ICAR job.
OEM procedure didn't call for a sleeve on either the c-pillar or rocker on this brand/model vehicle. Thanks for watching!

run a sleeve when cutting through multiple panels
