Solid video. One of the biggest reasons why I like the hollow knight art style so much is because a lot of characters have pale, skull-like faces that look like masks, and some are straight up just wearing masks.
I think there's probably a lot to be said about the game's mask lore and themes of identity and pulling on roles. Roles which can give you focus. Roles with can distort your identity unless you keep a firm grasp on who you really are.
How would silksong handle masks though? If wearing masks can erase the identity underneath, then wouldn't that mean Hornet would forget her past? Or possibly because her masks are unique it connects back to her in some way, preserving her identity.
