If this is a gift given to any by God, it will be just fine, both for the one who received and the one who isn't given. And again, most important lesson is what this gift is - a language, not just some ecstatic gibberish. Welldone brothers. This is sound, insightful and liberating.
This is truly quite sad. I agree that no one should feel alienated to feel like a second rate Christian if they do not speak in tongues but they are now in turn doing the same thing to Christians who do speak in tongues by making us feel as though we are weird, ungodly or demonically influenced. Well I am none of those things and if anything after speaking in tongues I served God with even more passion and it strengthened my walk with Him. Its really a shame how we limit God or try to reason things that we cant comprehend.
I believe that the only reason believers are so fervent about the need for others to be able to speak in tongues isn't to embarrass them or make them fill less than, but because it is the only evidence in scripture that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit when they recieved( Acts ch.2,1 0,and ch.19). They want them to recieve the Holy Spirit.
@robertnieten7259 yes I agree but when it doesn't automatically happen, then believers begin to question whether there is some fault in themselves and even resent those who constantly push it. It can result in division with Christians who speak in tongues and those who don't. This entire teaching is evidence of how those who don't, view us who do. And it certainly doesn't paint us in a good light
@@messenger8854 I see your point. I think it would help if those tarrying to recieve the Holy Spirit would be taken into a prayer room like i was accompanied by a couple believers that have recieved. They didn't yell in my ear in tongues, but layed hands on me and quietly prayed for me. Once the Lord answered my prayer and filled me with the Holy Spirit, i was loudly thanking the Lord and standing with my eyes closed. Then i heard the pastor, who had come back there, telling me to surrender my tongue to the Holy Spirit. I stopped thanking the Lord for answering my prayer, opened my mouth and relaxed my tongue as a way of surrendering it to the Spirit. After a few seconds i felt the Holy Spirit seize control of my tongue and i began to fluently speak in " tongues". The first i knew that i was speaking in tongues is when i heard myself. After that to pray in tongues in private all i had to do is yield my tongue and pray on my own. I think discouragement is the devils way to keep seekers from recieving.
Thks for your godly inspiration thoughts , however I like to share some of their beliefs, I’m referring to the Pentecostal denomination churches, they too have historical background, they have their debates on videos on TH-cam and biblical verses that support their findings and beliefs, and that’s why their churches around the world are still growing despite that facts as you guys had time and again prove in the bible, no matter what and how you guys disprove them, they are always able to counter for facts. The thing is this , they can speak in tongues anytime they want, if is the Holy Spirit talking , they meant they can control the Holy Spirit. I once had a friend for many years, until one day he ask me to join his church, I voiced my opinions, though I’m shallow in biblical knowledge, he defended and bombarded me with verses that I was not able to comprehend, since than we ve not communicated. Though is kind of sad , to think of it we disagree on many issues besides Christianity, I think fundamentally bec of our belief in speaking in tongues. Thks for listening.
The gift of speaking in tongues is no different today that it was when Paul wrote his instructions for believers 2000 years ago. 1 Corinthians Chapters 12 through 14 is very clear as to how communication with Spirits sent by God should proceed. If Christians cannot understand what Paul was describing then they are probably reading from translations by worldly men who had no knowledge of spiritual matters. When spirits speak to worshipers through mediums in foreign languages then mediums capable of translating those languages into the mother tongue of the listeners need to be present - or they are just wasting everyones time. The psychobabble occurring today, under the mass hysteria or hypnotic control of Pentecostal Pastors, is nothing like the phenomena described by Paul. Paul commences Ch.12 with instructions for testing the manifesting spirits: "With respect to spirit.communication, brothers, I wish you to have a clear understanding. You know that at the time when you were still heathens you entered into communication with the hideous spirits of the abyss as often as you were impelled to do so. I will therefore give you a rule by which you can distinguish between the spirits: No spirit from God who speaks through a medium will call Jesus accursed; and no spirit can speak of Jesus as his lord unless he belongs to the holy spirits." Paul then goes on to stress that speaking in the mother tongue of the listeners is more important than foreign tongues: 1 Cor.14:2-3: "For if a spirit speaks in a language unknown to those present, he cannot make himself understood by these people, but only by God. He therefore remains incomprehensible to every one, for the spirit uses words whose meaning is hidden from his hearers. But if he speaks in their mother tongue, this conduces to their edification, admonishment, and consolation. V. 27-33: If a foreign language is to be spoken, let two spirits, or at the most, three, be permitted to speak, one at a time, and let one spirit translate the addresses into the mother tongue of the hearers. If no spirit is present who can translate the foreign language, let the other spirit forego his address also, and offer a silent prayer to God instead. Even addresses in the mother tongue should be limited to two or three, and those present should discuss what they have heard. If any one attending the service is suddenly given an inspiration, the speaking-medium should be silent; for the speaking-mediums all have sufficient opportunity to teach and encourage the whole congregation. The spirits manifesting themselves through the speaking-mediums will obey the mediums, for God is not a God of disorder but of harmony. Thus I teach in all the congregations of the faithful." From NT translated from Codex D (Codex Bezae Cantabrigiensis) by Pastor Johannes Greber.
Did you just compare those interpreting tongues to Mediums??? Really???? That is completely sacrilegious. The Bible talks about actual mediums, and not fondly. Using such terminology for those gifted by God is utterly offensive. Out of all the titles you could give them, I suggest you pick another one. Completely bonkers. And they’re not communicating with spiritS they’re communicating with THE holy spirit
One thing we may look into is our flesh speaking in tongues and not a foreign demonic spirit .Charismatics are known and taught to practice and emulate tongues through frequent use. How do I know? cause I was a flaming charismatic before and spoke in a beautiful unknown tongue. Do I question if I am speaking in tongues? Yes because it was through practice I obtained this unknown tongue.I still believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but not everyone will have these gifts just as taught by the Holy Spirit in 1 Cor 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? and the Holy Spirit distributes the gifts individually to whom He determines But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Cor 12:11. May these be helpful for those who are seeking truth. God bless
Growing up a Taoist speaking in unknown tongues is nothing new. Mediums who invoke spirits to possess their bodies do speak in a unearthly tongue. These mediums can supposedly tell the future, ward off bad luck and heal bodies through chanting and imbibing of paper talisman burned and mixed in water to be drunk by those seeking help and healing. By the way there is interpretation of tongues from the unearthly to the earthly to understand the unknown tongue. Therefore Christians are to be wary of counterfeit tongues and healings. God bless

Great job, brethren. Quite informative and carefully delivered. God bless you, Jeff, Shea and Kevin.
Truth! The modern tongues babbling is nothing but confusion and unbiblical.

He says in the very beginning that this isn’t meant to condemn those who speak in tongues or shame them

Amen, we’re not to deny God’s power, and our main position is to love one another.
