Absolutely love Habitats. One of my favourite and most played games. I agree with Chris that the animals bring way more points than the objectives. You can easily win without them. But i have to say i am very glad i got the old version. The new artwork really turned me off. I prefer the old artwork by a lot.
I wanted to vote for this on my list for best game covers when you were doing that list, but BGG only had the original cover as an option in selection widget… it’s very pretty all together but the animal mini’s barely fit in the box!
Kind of surprised they didn't talk too much about the production; that was one of my biggest complaints with it. The art and component quality are great, but the bag for the tiles is too small to properly mix them (they just barely all fit into it), and the upgraded components basically double the game's playtime if you want to use them as intended (i.e. finding the matching animeeple for the tile you just completed). The game itself is solid, but the production for me is (pun somewhat intended) a mixed bag. :/
I agree with you. I organized those deluxe components into 4 bags based on the tile color and have a cheat sheet - which is WAY more work than is necessary for a simple tile laying game and they cause lid lift. For most people that simply isn't worth it and that feeling would be totally justified. I do quite enjoy the game outside of those 2 issues, but I definitely agree.
@@LegoAssassin098 oh, the meeples? Got it. Yeah, those seemed more trouble than they were worth, I’m happy with the cardboard tokens. Though things are STILL a tight fit in the box even with those
Why is the game set up over a logo? Makes it look really busy and it's confusing to look at the pieces. Please for the love of God use a solid color surface lmao
What do guys think of this compared to the two reimplementations, Sagani and Nova Luna?
Oh interesting, I was watching this thinking it sounded a lot like Nova Luna but didn't realize it was actually reimplementing the original game.
+Framework now

Thanks for the review. I greatly enjoy this game. I wish there were more examples on the scoring cards.
Added to wishlist. New to board games. Still confused by a game in a 9.month old vid (as of Oct 2023) still only being available for preorder! 😂
How does this compare to Cascadia? Which one is better? =)

Love Habitats! Bought one of the older editions years ago off eBay. It's been hard to get, glad to see this getting more attention!

@@LegoAssassin098Wait, you have the tiles come out of 4 different bags, sorted by tile color? Aren’t you changing the game at that point?
@salmonblox No. I organized the deluxe components by color. The tiles are in the bag, the deluxe components go on top after you put the tile out

Love this game. I have the slightly older second edition and am quite satisfied with the look and production.
Similar to Nova Lunar

Jackpot
Really distracting logo background on the table
