Seems like a lot of cool decisions and at the end of the game, it would be really cool to look at...with a surprisingly small table space. Looks pretty cool! If you're not a fan of multi-player solitaire, it may not be for you, but it makes me interested.
Not that solitaire because sometimes we are racing against the others to get the requirements to get one specific Wonder. Or block some types of buildings to avoid someone to get the requirement.
From their opinions and final thoughts, it's strange that both Camilla and Joey gave this game an 8.5. Either Joey's score should have been higher, he basically said no negatives about it, or more so Camilla's score should be dropped because she clearly enjoyed this game way less than the others. I know it's their review, so ofc they can give whatever score they wish, I just wanted to point out that I've found it strange - and this is the main reason why I don't care about Dice Tower scores, only their actual opinion being articulated while giving their score - if it makes sense. It's how you should always approach to watching any sort of review about anything from any person. Numbers don't tell much at all and one can't make one's own decisions of buying and personal enjoyment of the product, based on the rating number. But descriptions of the experience with the product do tell a lot and can be used to more correctly make a judgement if one is going to like the product or not.
i would probably play this game solitary or at two if we both know the rules, But above that i would rather play Alice's Garden for some Shorter and funny games ! Alice's garden is such an underatted little polyomino familly game ! anyway, i'll give that wolrd Wonders a shot for solo play and see if i prefer it above Planet Unknown or isle of cat explore and draw Cheers from belgium
I enjoy 7 Wonders but I haven't been motivated to pull it off the shelf in the last 5 years. I like the look and mechanics of this game, hopefully it's not too pricey with the custom wooden pieces.
This looks good but I prefer more player interaction with a shared board, and that is Foundations of Rome for me. Would definitely play this one just not own it. Now if it was in the 30-45 minute range it would probably hit my collection in a heart beat.

@thedicetower how do you feel thematically about the fact that you can (if I understood correctly) place on your board multiple wonders that have nothing to do with each other? Like Machu Picchu and a Roman aqueduct? It feels a bit strange to me
It's a little bit of a "push your luck" mechanism. If you really want a specific wonder - how many actions do you dare to wait? If you buy it immediately, your turn is over and you can't do anything else; but if you wait to long, maybe another player snatched it first. I think it's not really a varying cost of the monuments (you can't take unused money to the next round anyway), but a mechanic (and thematic) decision: The game ist about world wonders - if you've finished one, you're done (for the round).
Yeah I get that it costs an amount of action points. But to call them coins doesn’t make sense. Just call them action points or a better thematic name would be a time track and how much time it requires to build these tiles and monuments.
@@ctvisions But what would change, if it would be "time" instead of "money"? I mean, to build something, you need both. There still would be varying "time unit"-costs to build something, so sometimes it would cost 1 unit to build a wonder and sometimes 7, without any event happening in the game. Maybe you could say, the faster you want it to be done (earlier in your turn), the more money it costs, because you need more people to finish it quicker? That's the best thematic explanation I can think of. :D
@@gluckszwerg46 yeah that could kind of work as an explanation to it but that’s a stretch as money is indeterminate of how long something takes to build something. Obviously nothing would change if the name was just switched. But maybe there’s a better use of a mechanism to use real “coins” instead of having a track that’s limited. I just don’t like things that seemed forced in a design where this seems like a we want coins to be a thing in the game and we want a track to keep players actions limited so let’s just combine the two. After thinking about it more calling the track a “week” track would be perfect because there’s seven action slots and there are 7 days in a week.
Agreed, the mechanism should've been the opposite I. E. Can only build a wonder when you have full money. Would require a massive overhaul of the game though

I guess I am baffled by all of the comments and opinions of people saying the game looks "great." It honestly looks like a polyomino game with some wood. The wonders pieces look fine but the polyominos, I have better ones in Barenpark. Maybe Robert and Arcane Wonders will do something with it but I'd rather play Foundations of Rome from them. Pass for now.
Look at these people thinking 1 minute is AP. In our home games where we are all AP players and we enjoy not being hasselled by non AP players, the longest turn took 20 minutes. We went out bought lunch came back and still that players turn.
@@tyrroowe get told that a lot by other players so we stick to our group where everyone APs so we don’t annoy non AP players and so that we don’t get annoyed by other players being frustrated at us. We take a full day 6 hours playing one game and we can check our phone etc … in between turns or just chat.
I guess if everyone's doing it and expecting it, then it's not so bad, but I can confirm that playing a game where there's only one person with AP is torture. Especially it's a simultaneous selection game like Between Two Cities, where every turn you're all sat there waiting for the same person to go through every single tile they've got (yes, this has actually happened to me).
This looks so drab, and fiddly. Maybe, I’ll wait to try it at a con. Wild Tile West, planet unknown and many others…Does this really stand out as a great polyomino game compared to the others. I have to fight my fomo! This one might be an easy pass…maybe …

I find it special playing against players who refuse to exploit the game mechanics to their advantage. My play style... playing is about winning and do everything within the rules to win, if you want to role-play there is RPG. Euro games are about optimization, not feelings. I think she will try that strategy next time when no one watches.

I’d say on average each person’s turn is about 3min, so 10min before it comes around to you.
