    The poor kid is genuinely trying here, you can see it in the last few seconds when he perks up. I love it when he scolds the younger chefs cause he does it so gently, but just enough to make them realise that the problem isn't that they're not good enough rather that they should have higher standards for themselves because they are CAPABLE of doing better. The little 'good boy' at the end was so sweet and you could visibly see the young lad pick himself up and get motivated. Such a lovely little video, I wish more of my teachers were like that when I was younger.
    Edit: I have a degree in communications but clearly missed the part where we discussed run-on sentences. Doh.

  • @JCorialis

    What I really like at the end of this is how Gordon told the other chef that even though he made a mistake, he wants him to get back into it; a lot of people who shit fury on you for a mistake at work and then just leave it at that fail to realise the tiniest of mistakes can stick with people, so it’s nice to see Gordon do more than just bitch at the guy and leave it at that

      The F Word is only a 45 minute show so about 30-35 with ad breaks. It's not a home cooking show, it's to show you the pressure of juggling 20 things in service. Just like working in a real service, it's meant to be chaos, pressure on, no time to fuck about. Watch Delia or Nigella if you can't keep up

    Honestly all these commenters trying to look edgy by insulting Gordon for making fun of grilled lettuce, when they don't know a thing about cooking. Ffs the food Gordon insulted and what he's doing aren't the same at all...
    They grilled the entire stalk itself not allowing it be cleaned. Gordon just sauted his clean lettuce lightly. The dishes are also different.
    People are acting like he said cooking lettuce was stupid, which he did not say....

    • @shanayazaveri2620
      @shanayazaveri2620 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Also the grilled lettuce was for Caesar salad, so that's why it was odd.

    • @victoriannecastle
      @victoriannecastle 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not about them not knowing how to cook. Of course, they don't know.
      The point they are trying to make is Gordon being inconsistent with what he says,contradicting himself but then you explain it now so it solves the problem.

      he sauteed it to wilt it just a little bit and this is baby gem lettuce, like gordon said it is quite robust. We chinese saute almost every vegetable and it taste better imo, a few seconds in hot pan makes the difference, the vegetable doesn't has that 'raw' taste to it and it compliments the main course.

He's a firm leader, stern and incisive when his subordinates make a mistake but attentive in teaching them where they went wrong, gives an example to follow and encourages people when they're doing things right. @Thatonechingadera45 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Swanson like I’ve said you can cook it and make it taste pretty good but it’s literally proven that the more you cook it the more juice and fat content leave the meat causing dry and tasteless meat.

      @Thatonechingadera45 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Swanson understood, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be that soft. Maybe talk to the person who cut the meat and or cooked the meat and complain why the texture is so off. It should only be so tender.

    • @mrglibb
      @mrglibb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you think that's blood you've clearly never been given a decent cooking lesson. What a lot of people percieve as blood in their meat is actually myoglobin, a substance similar to haemoglobin which carries oxygen to the muscles. The beef was properly cooked, the inside is left as close to raw as possible because beef is usually quite sterile under the surface and is relatively free from parasites compared to other meats like pork and chicken which must be cooked through, which means we can cook it less in order to preserve the flavours and texture of the meat. As long as the surface is well cooked the meat should be safe to eat.

      be aware of through observation, inquiry, or information. Just in case you missed a word in fifth grade), so maybe you need to pick that spelling book back up.
