- After watching all of Shane Dawson's feature films (Smiley, Not Cool & Internet famous), I've decided that I haven't suffered enough. So for this video, I went ahead and watched all of this man's short films as well, help.

@@bunm.8530 Well, you guessed wrong, I've been on TH-cam since before 2009. I'll agree that the Fine Bros had some good productions like MyMusic but the React stuff is shit. And Bart Baker had very poor quality at the time, his vids didn't get good till 2014, unfortunately no one cared about song parodies at that point.

i've always felt like they gave off the same energy.
I think that it's just that the callouts didn't hit the people who found out about him after the brand change until this year. I know that there are a lot of people who have hated him for a long time, but why would they bother arguing with people who won't be convinced?

@@chiyukileung1614 I guess so but it rubs me the wrong way that the way he portrays bullemia as a very stereotypical "girl wants to be skinny and pretty," which is a harmful narrative for ppl with eating disorders because it doesn't get taken very seriously, and I don't see how that would help him cope it's not exactly his story to tell. I feel like dark humor is ok if you're making fun of your own experiences, but once you cross that line it becomes uncomfortable instead of funny in my opinion (and I love dark humor don't get me wrong)

One trope of Shane's that I always hated was juxtaposing something shocking like talking about sex, and then directly following it with "Welp that was grandma!" Because that contrast can be SO funny if done right. For example, a girl arrives at her bf's house for their first family meal together and notices a massive jacked up truck. She comments on it and the bf says "yeah nanna likes to let lose on the weekends after bridge.." Like it doesn't have to be shocking or gross to be entertaining. it can be just... unexpected.
Shane is like the Neil Breen of his films: Gives himself the lead role everytime even if it makes more sense if he didn't
Shane is missing women with no bras on for no reason.
At least Neil Breen's brand of terrible movies are enjoyable on some level and don't rely on outdated, offensive stereotypes.

The story plot point in friends 4 ever where they dox the guy telling people to come have sex with him is extremely disturbing even if you don't don't know about the woman (edit: man) who put her (edit: his) neighbors address on craigslist or something with the description being "come do rape play with me, I'll pretend that I'm not concenting to you breaking into my house to have sex with me". And a guy did show up... I dont remember if the woman got saved by her husband or if things went as "planned" by the neighbor, but it's...it's fucking disgusting

The worst part is, Shane's content isn't bad, it's him himself that's the problem.

Even Shane now. We all know he messed up in the past. Even the recent past. His documentaries are done so well, I mean, it's literally just him and Andrew, and they're pretty entertaining. Also, Shane has struggled with ED's his entire life, this is why there is a lot of emphasis on weight in all of his movies. Shane is very much aware of how much drama he causes. Hence the SATIRE in "It gets worse", including the over the top speech on the stairs.

Gotta be honest - I disagree. His “docu-series” are filled with a bunch of emotional manipulation, and a lack of fact-checking.
It’s one thing to say that they’re an entertaining deep-dive into some big names of the TH-cam community, but claiming to be an unbiased, educated source is wrong.
That’s my biggest gripe: he is/was an entertainer, not a reporter like he claimed.
