    Another great video, Thanks! and even after you mentioned it I did not "catch" the repeating rock structure and besides painting will hide much of that as shown. Great job on the layout!

    Two ways to extend the working time for plaster:
    #1. Put an ample container of water in the fridg the night before you are going to work with plaster. The cold water will give you about 20 minutes of working time after the plaster is mixed.
    #2. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking powder in 1 cp of plaster. This will cause the plaster to set much slower.
    Usually when I want to do much work with plaster on the road, I use both tricks and get a lot of working time.
    Placing the molds on the base material I just use Liquid Nail. No need to use plaster here as the Liquid Nail will hold the plaster just fine. Maybe better than plaster and you don't have to work with a time limit.Your wall looks very nice even as it is on the video. For the black to make the crevices look deeper, I usually use a few drops of India Ink in water or alcohol. I usually use water and flood the area first. Your wall looks very nice. One thing I don't have to do is worry about track power and dirty track. I don't have any power in the track at all. i use completely battery power in all of my locomotives.

      great tips. I know for sure with colder water, it gives longer work times.

    If you ad a little vinegar to the plaster it increases the curing time.

    • @nscaler454
      @nscaler454  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never heard of that. Does it make the plaster stink?

    • @davidcurtis5398
      @davidcurtis5398 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the cold water and the baking powder to get more time with the plaster, I have never tried adding vinegar. how much do you add???

    I enjoy your videos, and all your work looks great. Question (and I may have missed this on another video): when ballasting over Woodland Scenics incline sets, do you tape the gaps first, or fill with plaster?

    Nice video, working with plaster have you ever tried using Tempura paint to color your water? I use black and brown depending on what I am going to do. It gives my rock casting a grey starting point plus when I brake apart pieces it is easier to blend because it is the same color. Liked your crossing and will try that on my layout!

    • @nscaler454
      @nscaler454  ปีที่แล้ว

      later on in my layout I did try putting some paint into the water when I mixed the plastic. It technically work. There was a huge difference between the wet mix and when it dried though.

    Just found this channel. I subscribed.. That wall looks great.. They whole thing looks great. I am going to make a 4x8 n scale layout. I want to know if you are using under table switch machines and if so how are they working out for you?

    • @nscaler454

      Thanks for the sub. I have tortoise switches under the table. They aren't wired to a switch just yet. I have some videos of how it's currently setup and wired under the bench.
