Wow, this interview was almost 4 years ago. This was the best interview you have ever done with a wrestler. The second was an episode of Kurt Angle, but what is amazing today is that Taker has a podcast.
Right, he talks about how he was thinking about riding the whole thing into the sunset. He considered keeping the mysterious, quiet, image of “The Undertaker” alive. I’m glad he chose to to show the world Mark Calaway.
I was the same age rsnge in those times. Undertaker, Kane, Stone Cold, Triple H. When I got to see them live....wow. There was something soecial about these dudes. Taker is the true GOAT.
couldn't agree more. The dedication, not just to the brutal schedule wrestling demanded of him, but to the character, is incredible. When you consider his influence in the locker room too, I'm not sure anyone has been more responsible for the success of the WWE/F for the last 40 years
Taker was really green in the character still when he faced Gonzales. He obviously evolved but early Taker was not really a ring tactician. If anyone else had to be with Gonzales I would have wanted to see Bret or Perfect, Bam Bam or Owen. Bret could carry a bag of sandwiches to a five star classic and Perfect, Owen and Bam Bam were excellent tacticians that could have covered for Gonzales' shortcomings with their own skill and ring psychology.
You can tell how uncomfortable he was doing stuff like this during his 2020 press tour. You can literally see in real time him getting more and more used to talking in public. Now the man's got his own podcast and everything. Deadman's nothing if not adaptable.
What a great man! So many of his old colleagues past on way to early and never got the chance to retire gracefully. I remember his great debut in WWF. I was 9 years old and had just gotten in to it. Watching all the shows on Eurosport. Fun times to be a kid.
Surreal as hell, watching him since his first time on TV with WWE, i was prolly 10. Such an amazing talent, and even better of a high class wonderful human being!

I wish they would have never guvin them to me wit that fucking knee injury!
