The "Main menu theme is also the final boss music" is such a neat concept and my idiot self always forgets about it in every souls game. You did a great job and the first song you cover being this is brilliant.
@@AltAccount-dz8rpDS3 would have also had this, the menu theme is a repurposed final theme for Pontiff Sulyvahn, cut content suggesting he was the original planned final boss.
Oh, I 100% have to blast this when fighting him next. Love the way this was done, Radagon sounds kinda hollow like he is in the lore - practically just a vessel of the Greater Will's wishes, law personified. The beautiful singing is also really on point for how I pictured his voice! Love boss themes that are also the main themes
My personal interpretation of the lyrics: Radagon’s first set of lyrics tell the story of lands between. “Born in a dark land, borne of the gods” The gods first come to the Lands Between and plant erdtree. “Written in gold hand, all of its laws” The golden order is founded and conquers the Lands Between. “Blessed by our will, broken apart” The Lands Between are blessed by Marika/Radagon and the greater will with eternal rebirth, establishing the golden order’s eternal rule. Until Marika shatters the Elden Ring, causing it to break apart. “Now as the sky stills, shatter the heart” The shattering occurs and war breaks out between the demigods across the Land Between. “Bound by the will and taken” The erdtree, along with the remains of the Elden Ring, is sealed away by the greater will. “Our hopes fore’er forsaken” With all the empyreans having either fallen or turned their backs on the order, Radagon and the greater will’s hopes of one mending the Elden Ring and restoring the golden order are lost. “The Lands Between lie shaken” The Lands Between is lost and fractured from the effects of the shattering. This is the world you play in during the game. “Here as the gods awaken!” The present moment here and now. The Tarnish has reached the Elden Ring with the power to mend it and create a new order. Radagon and the greater will awaken in response to make their last stand to protect what little remains of their golden order. Radagon’s second set of lines establishes his obedience to the greater will and his desire to protect the golden order. “Behold the Ring” Referrers to the Elden Ring you can see within Radagon himself. “By domain lord and king” Even with the golden order in ruins, Radagon and the greater will still see themselves as the gods and rulers of the Lands Between. Also refers to the fact that the Elden Ring is the key to ruling the Lands Between. “Shatter the bonds” The greater will’s command to shatter the bonds of grace and guidance between Marika and the Tarnished. “Bring ruin to the Elden Ones” The greater will’s command to destroy those guided by Marika’s grace to become Elden Lord. The only ones who now can, but doing so will mean the end of the golden order. The Tarnished. The Elden Ones. All of Marika's lines refer to her desire for the Tarnished to mend the Elden Ring and found a new order free of the greater will. Also, just wanted to say this is one of my favorite songs in gaming and this cover is one of my favorites by MOTI and more than does this incredible song justice. Thank you so much for your amazing work!
Wait ... I feel like the lyrics are being sung by the opposite characters though? Marika was the who shattered the Elden Ring so all of Radagon' lines fits her more? Radagon was the one trying to repair it so he should have been the one yelling about order and mending the ring, no? Listen again but swap Marika (Yellow) and Radagon (Black) around and you would know what I mean.
This is honestly amazing. FromSoft songs with lyrics have been something I’ve always silently hoped for from you guys, and BOY did you deliver. Just a small nitpick though, and correct me if I’m wrong because it’s been a minute since I’ve played. I think some of the lines about going against the Golden Order shouldn’t really apply here. While Marika was all for forsaking the Order, Radagon was fighting to protect it. Pretty sure the opening cinematic and/or a trailer depict the two of them struggling for control, with Marika shattering the ring while Radagon desperately tries to mend it. Therefore Radagon singing to end the Golden Order doesn’t make much sense, as he’s fighting to keep things as they are. Either way though, amazing work. No pressure, but if this song does well, I think a Musical Bytes of Souls games or at least Elden Ring would be great to see.
I think the golden text is the one representing Radagon's thoughts while the purple gold trimmed text are meant to be Marika's thoughts. Seems like they are going for the interpretation that Marika's personality still affects Radagon even after the greater will basically destroyed her.
@@vernnastral this is funny to me because if this is true then that mean that until his last breath his only thoughts are of the golden order and while he is in control in body Marika has control of the mind
Radagon *isn’t* singing about going *against* the Golden Order. He’s mostly singing about defeating the Tarnished and preventing them from establishing a new world order.
