1:50 out of all of fromsoftware's tracks so far, I don't think I've ever heard a piece so full of... optimism? heroism? hopefulness? I dunno, it almost sounds cheerful.
That's what I was thinking - the trailer establishes a tragic background before presenting us a heroic figure - Miquella and all those who decided to follow him, despite the fact he abandoned his role as an Empyrian as well as his fate. It's, to date, one of the most optimistic trailers we've ever had. I've still got *some* suspicion towards Miquella but I'm starting to really like the idea that he's just straight up a nice guy who wants to fix shit and just straight up help.
@@fishgiovaana8441 not all songs, theres the song of the batmaidens who is in full latin, which probably meant that the devs wanted us to know more about the suffering the misbegotten endured because of the Golden Order. If this were truly the lyrics of the song Marika's armies extended way before the Golden Age. What wars did she fight? What races did she shun? etc etc.
@@kumitapp I will help: The quote about beginning, seduction, and betrayal is about marikas origins as elden lord. She entered Godhood and was seduced by the greater will to be its vassal (all outer gods need a host to have influence in the lands between, Morgott tried to make miquella the host for his God, the formless mother, malenia is the host for the sealed god of scarlet rott, melina is the host of the twin bird/death and you are the host for the frenzied flame in one ending.) and in turn betrayed her people, as she was the tool the greater will used to destroy them and replace them. vaati hasnt made a dedicated video about it but hes talked about it alot. There is a different giant tree under the erdtree, but its dead. its called the Greatree and it had its own civilization surrounding it, its what the crucible knights were apart of, and its why they are ostracized. The war you see is how that was done, they razed the civilization as a whole, and built a new tree (out of dead bodies, see intro, and also see the dead bodies being sucked into the roots of the erdtree in every dungeon in the game, and the dialogue about how the dead are absorbed into the erdtree, which explains why the greater will gives a shit about having control over the lands between, because people souls = yummy). Vaati summarizes this all into Erdtree = parasite. miquella went off to learn about this whole conflict, which relates to him as he himself went to war against the erdtree and tried creating his own civilization in opposition to it around the haligtree. He is the primary figure in opposition to the golden order and greater will. Every single shot of this games new area contains the Primordial Greatree standing and the trailer is about the past so, so we can assume that we are running time travel back for the bajjilionth time in a souls games dlc, and we can assume thats where miquella went and where we are following him.
Also, a lot of people have connected the weird white thing to the jar innards, but to me it looks like a Bonny potentate hood with the maggots removed. Basically we see Marika harvesting her torturers.
If you are implying that they are not following him voluntarily and that Miquella is controlling them let me tell you that you are wrong and you are misunderstanding the lore. This is not an opinion, it is reality. Investigate the lore.

And this is maybe how the new levelling system is Miyazaki said there will be a new levelling system similar to Sekiro it will make sense that we get stronger by visiting more sites of grace ( miquella rune) and basically collecting fragments from the graces until we get the whole rune

@@anadvocateoftruegenderequa6528 the weapon she holds is the polearm you get from romina's rememberance also the music at around 1:29 is her theme but that's more of an easter egg ig
The line about “a purge without Grace or honor” is subtly terrifying in what it implies. We know from the base game that the Golden Order has been responsible for several horrific massacres, many of which they either boast about or at least seem indifferent to the knowledge of. Whatever the hell Messmer did, it was so nightmarish and morally bankrupt that even MARIKA- who ordered or at least condoned the mass torture of the Omens and the slaughter of the Misbegotten- wanted nothing to do with him and had all record of his deeds erased from history.
Right? The implications are unimaginable. In the base game we learn of the Golden Order's several wars across the continent, complete genocide of the giants, the persecution of the omen and wandering merchants, and enslavement of demihumans. Somehow there's something so atrocious even compared to all this it is considered unspeakable in nature. Holy shit.
something tells me that whatever happened here was just messmer's first offense against the golden order. i think he probably did something else later to get himself excommunicated, and marika chose to stick him in the land of shadow as a sort of poetic justice. shame for whoever survived the first round messmer had with the place, though.
If the uplifting music and the representation of his followers indicate, I honestly hope that Miquella is actually what everybody says he is - A kind, empathetic and charitable soul who genuinely wants to save the broken world of Elden Ring. As much as I love From Soft's grim visions on the world's they create, it'd be nice to see a little hope for a change.
I do like the idea. However his character has so many small tying things to Griffith from berserk which is portrayed the exact same way it’s hard for me to think he will be

He's still otherworldly and kind of terrifying in a subtle way, but it's nice that he seems to be motivated by a genuinely altruistic desire to reduce suffering. Now I'm sure we'll eventually learn that Miquella *IS* Messmer or that he secretly eats babies, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it

Miquella is so sus. The love he inspires on people is almost cult-like and bordering on zealous (But he's divine so maybe this can be excused) He's honestly the most 'godly' out of all the Empyreans. We'll find out if he eats babies soon.
@@emperorpalpatine4953 While I understand your point, it doesn't mean much in this context. The hornsent actively encouraged the mutilations and sufferings of the shamans. If there were outliers to those beliefs, people or cultures that denied the need for "sainthood" they were either completely forgotten or didn't exist in the first place. It's not "killing all germans because a lot of them were nazis", it's "killing all germans because ALL OF THEM were nazis". I certainly don't agree with the genocide because it ultimately lead to even more suffering for everyone involved, but saying the hornsent didn't deserve it is downplaying the horrid things they did. that lion head thing that is modeled after the chinese dragon dancer thingamabob is such a cool design, fromsoft needs to give them a raise who came up with it
And the sound when it moves, the clatter of hundreds of plates, by the looks of it it is probably made of, moving together. @@silentnquiet The hornsent used tooth whips to whip the flesh of the Shamans (Marika's people) since their flesh melds harmoniously into jars to commence the Jar saint ritual. Marika was likely tortured and nearly stuffed into a jar, but she managed to escape and crossed the gates, becoming the eternal and swearing revenge for the death of her people. We know the Gates of Divinity are built from corpses, but who built it is unknown, its definitely before Marika, though, so there's a possibility that the hornsent built the gates with the corpses of Shamans to commence the ritual of divinity and ascension, maybe they believed that if they crossed it, they may commune with the Heavens themselves, they did believe themselves messenger of Heaven, since the crucible touched them, even building Enir-Ilim to get closer and closer in physical form. The hornsent hunted the Shamans because they believed anyone untouched by the crucible is lesser than, since the crucible is nature itself, (symbolic to trees, horns etc), and the Shamans were "purified" in the eyes of the hornsent. It's also worth noting that the specimen storehouse is chalk full of old tomes and a treatment clinic for the fleshy Shamans, implying Messmer preserved hornsent knowledge in attempt to heal his mother's people.

@@realhidetaka I know some people are fed up of games that seem to be designed to leech money off you. Whether that be through lots of micro-transactions, or a cash-cow series of games being abused. In comparison, From Software are of course still offering a product, but you're treated to games that had an extreme amount of love put into them, and are very well designed to boot, with no hidden fees. They're not alone, Larion Studios is another studio who similarly just seem to be concerned with delivering high quality games they love. Team Cherry is also another studio that comes to mind. It's a shame hearing game-devs talk about the industry, because a lot of them seem to also be just as concerned with delivering good quality games. But horrible management at studios, especially bigger ones, prevent them from making the games they truly want to make. And it seems like it's been an issue within the industry for a long time, many, many stories of management prioritizing what they think will make the most profits and appease their shareholders.

Miquella watered the Haligtree with his own blood, so perhaps 0:39 is Marika growing the Erdtree with the blood of the people of the Land of Shadow. The sky outside the pillars is grey, sky inside is gold of the new Age of the Erdtree. You literally see her forging the base rune of the Elden Ring in its Golden Order configuration (this base rune is also her symbol as seen in her soreseal and scarseal), which is conspicuously missing from the Age of Beasts Elden Ring relief in Maliketh’s arena. If Messmer assisted in this atrocity, it would make him very old, older than the Erdtree. He is associated with snakes, and this would explain where the hostility between snakes and the Erdtree came from. His crime (and by extension Marika’s) had to be covered up. 1:45 The skybox shows one huge tree constricted by another. I believe this is the Erdtree symbolically and literally taking over the older Greattree, stealing its life essence. This marks the transition from the Age of the Crucible to the Age of the Erdtree.

1:50 out of all of fromsoftware's tracks so far, I don't think I've ever heard a piece so full of... optimism? heroism? hopefulness? I dunno, it almost sounds cheerful.
I think that the first few words in Latin are "AVE MARIKA, AETERNA" ( greetings, Marika the eternal)
I hope the ost will be as memorable as ds3, it definitly is a great one ^^, for me the only one rhat stuck was radagon/eldenbeast
If not Miquella's actual theme, I'm assuming it's related to service to Miquella due to it's falsetto vocal and endearing quality.

Waiting for 3 hours long, Vaati's video
@@kumitapptrue lmao
@@kumitapp I will help:
The quote about beginning, seduction, and betrayal is about marikas origins as elden lord.
There is a different giant tree under the erdtree, but its
dead. its called the Greatree and it had its own civilization surrounding it, its what the crucible knights were apart of, and its why they are ostracized.

"nah bro that aint mah kid bro, hes adopted"
Holy shit.

@@silentnquietyou know those slimy things that burst out of the jars that you fight in the gaols? Those were shamans, Marika’s people. They were enslaved by the hornsent and stuffed into jars in the hope that they could become “saints”. That is why Marika is so full of hate towards the Omens and why she made Messmer slaughter their kind

It's so bizarre and captivating
no, you are beautifull
My first association was that we are looking from an inside giant(godly) womb to the outside where Marika stands and births into the world what she stole.
But after many have mentioned, it kinda does look like the foot of the Erdtree...

01:00 the sound of the slow marching in unison is so good
This shot is absolutely ominous, can't believe people are not talking more about it.
@@Valzack The rhythm and pacing of their steps is unexpectedly great
Definitely! That’s a strong scene that one
It's not so good if they are marching towards you
@@Valzackit’s hardly ominous. It’s pretty obvious what’s going on lmao
The shot at 2:12 is paired with the line "even his fate" Knowing what we do now about St. Trina, this was clearly meant to depict abandoning love, not fate.
No it was correct. By abandoning his love, he abandoned his fate to be loving demigod/ God.
@@amoose3582 His entire deal as a god was to be compassionate. That sounds pretty loving to me.
@@Endonae ,
Did you ignore the part where he abandoned his compassion? How can you be a compassionate God when you don't have compassion. Miquella was a kind, compassionate demigod but stripped himself down to the point where he became borderline sociopathic. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I believe miquella genuinely wants to create an age of compassion, but he is naive, and in the process of trying to create it, has fallen into the same trap his mother did and became a POTENTIAL monster.
That first shot with Marika surrounded by mountains of corpses seems like the formation of the Erdtree.
Yes you can see Messmer sending other bodies up to the tree later in the clip!
maybe all that meat is the primordial crucible?
The golden strands she's holding also look a lot like a rune arc
Ngl I thought that was Godwyn for a brief moment. I really hope he shows up in the dlc since Fromsoft isn't doing anything else with Elden Ring besides this

While most AAA studios are creating a product
Fromsoftware is still out there creating art for us
Thank you.
How different you think fromsoftware is compared to the rest of gaming industry? Are they like a diamond in the rough or a hidden gem that just being discovered?
@@realhidetaka the souls games are incredibly thoughtful and rewarding its like these guys are from the future and know how to make a complete game without it feeling so ... Gamey Industry--y. Like Cyberpunk2077 failed so badly to me. It felt so corporate while having this anti-corporate terrorist character that doesn't seem to have much a motive to his actions other than "big corporation bad" and blowing shit up without any real meaning to it.
Lemme put it this way @@realhidetaka. Fromsoftware are the only people I will pre order a game/DLC from anymore.
@@realhidetaka My man, just because you may have only heard of Fromsoft does not make that a diamond in the rough or a hidden gem.
Fromsoft is THE godfather of soulslike games. They are THE diamond. There is no rough or hidden here.

Fromsoft and Larian are the only devs I'd buy a preorder or early access title from at all and feel safe doing so. AAA gaming has gotten really shitty after trying to appeal to everyone at the same time.
1:20 in the next clip you can see Mesmer impaled all 3 people inside the lion dancer... I can't wait to try this DLC!!
devilman crybaby ahh scene
Those aren’t the people inside one lion dancers, these are three sets of dragon dancers. The one we’re going to fight in the dlc is probably the last one.
This is some berserk shit
Those are the gates of divinity
