Hello friends, in today's video i have shared with you how to engage reverse gear in cars with 6 speed transmission/6 gears where reverse gear is nearby the 1st gear.

QUESTION: Do you still need to hold that lever if you want to SHIFT FROM REVERSE to NEUTRAL? The car manual doesn't say anything about this; only that you need to hold that lever to shift from NEUTRAL to REVERSE.
I noticed that you didn't hold the lever when you shifted from REVERSE to NEUTRAL and I've done this quite a few times accidentally with my Accent. I was wondering if doing that repeatedly will cause long-term damage to the transmission or is it okay to not hold that lever when shifting from REVERSE to NEUTRAL?

Firstly i am extremely sorry for the late reply.
No, we dont need to hold the lever while shifting from reverse to neutral. And again No, it wont cause any damage to your transmission and you dont need to hold it even while disengaging from reverse to neutral. Even the new generation scorpio D140 has a 6 speed transmission and while engaging reverse we just need to engage like we engage 1st gear i.e. no lever is provided and hence mostly people tend to engage 1st gear instead of reverse. The lever is basically provided to ensure that reverse gear is engaged and nothing else and even if the lever breaks you can still engage reverse but the struggle will be a little more.

bihudatta sahu we need to pull it up only to engage, without pulling it, it will slot itself in 1st gear only and not reverse. While disengaging we dont need to pull it.
