Episode 159 of Love At First Scent
This was a TH-cam Live broadcast streamed on Wednesday 27th January 2021.
    Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
In this episode, I interviewed perfumer Antoine Lie, the sole or co-creator of several highly influential modern perfumes, including Rien, Secretions Magnifiques and Eau De Protection for Etat Libre D'Orange, 888 for Comme Des Garcons and Armani Code for Armani. More recently, Lie has created all of the scents from Eris Parfums and the most recent releases from Les Indemodables. He now works as an independent perfumer at his own company, Antoine Lie Olfactive Experience.
As per usual, there wasn't enough time to cover all the things we could have talked about with Antoine, but perhaps this means I'll be able to persuade him to return soon for Round 2. Nevertheless, we did manage to pack quite a lot into the hour, including insights into the creation of Rien and Secretions Magnifiques for Etat Libre D'Orange, as well as Pharrell Williams Girl, Comme Des Garcons Daphne and Eris Green Spell. He also talked about his reasons for going independent, what he sees as the problems with current, large-scale perfume creation, and his admiration for the work of Germaine Cellier.

    Many thanks for watching.

A post modern punk tuberose inspired by Michael Clark for example. I recommend the video of an interview about his collaboration with Mc. Queen.

Go, Antoine! I am so lucky he creates the fragrances for ERIS. (I also think the A. McQueen /A. Lie collaboration would have been beyond!!) Wonderful interview, Persolaise, and really interesting questions from everyone. I wish I could have heard his answers for all of them!

I wish you asked him about Ralph Lauren Romance for men. That cologne is utter perfection and since it’s been discontinued years ago its all I think about. I would give anything to be able to get more of that. Or even something extremely similar. I know there is plenty of people who feel the same way judging by the EBay listing prices on it 😂
