i use my 3ds weekly solely for its music app, its just a really solid non-ad music player. Also, when it's modded its basically a multimedia station. cant wait for the switch 10 years from now to be in the same spot but just with more power
3DS's system sounds are really the final evolution of what the Wii started between lord knows, the Switch is soulless 😂. The System Transfer themes and the Settings theme are my personal favorites, but real talk- especially since I kinda brought it up- the Wii Weather Channel's music dogwalks most of the 3DS's music. I still have my Black Friday edition Mario New 3DS. My dad was waiting out starting 3AM to get it for me. The top screen finally broke earlier this year. Still functional it just has a black line going through it.
I honestly didn’t know about the pop theme either because I always loved messing around with the camera settings as a kid. I just took out my 3DS to see where do I find the pop music. apparently you go on slideshow and go to the setting and change the chill music to pop.
my brothers both had 3ds's. i remember playing nintendogs demos and mario games on them in the early-mid 2010's when i was a little kid. finally got my own 3ds xl in 2017. i only have 3 games for it but recently i've been playing it a lot more lately and i've ordered another game for it (pokemon alpha sapphire) and i'm planning on getting sonic rush for it as well, since ds games should work for it. but enough about that, i almost cried listening to the internet settings theme a few days ago lol. switch needs its nostalgic music too :[
I'm watching this as someone who the 3DS came out when I was 20. I love the 3DS though, it was the first console I bought for myself and collected a decent library instead of relying on getting them for my birthday. I still play it about as often as my switch, to boot up some New Leaf or Project Mirai. It's also just more portable than a switch lite. I love the clam-shell design of the DS consoles. Which is another thing, I still use my DS lite to play flash carts! They're such beautiful little handhelds I've always praised how Nintendo uses sound design. Listen to how it's used as far back as Super Mario World!
Almost every eShop theme HITS! Even without the "bitcrushing", I just feel Nintendo makes some of the best OSTs in the industry, and I'm still a bit saddened over them opting-out of a soundtrack for the Switch. Although I get it from a standpoint to appeal more to a mature audience, perhaps they could've included a menu music toggle? 🤷🏾♂️

i remember 1st time i got a ds & 3ds, when i was setting em up for the 1st time, it was always crazy, always super fun. hell with the 3ds especially sometimes ill still do the 3d test & listen to the menu music, it was like im lookin into another dimension only things that made me feel that way again is probably the xbox360 setup, especially w/ the avatar, & my oculus quest, setting up the quest was alot more boring, sure, but with how vr works it was the closest i felt to first setting up a 3ds in a long ass while
