The thing that made Harvey so dangerous was not its initial landfall, but rather that it sat there for an entire week afterward
Rainfall from Harvey was a huge part on why damages were so high
Just take that on account, a whole week of rain nonstop
It was like a repeat of Katrina even though that storm was deadly and broke all of the leaves

I remember Hurricane Harvey like it was yesterday. I was just starting 10th grade when Harvey happened, and everyone remembers Harvey dumped 60+ inches of rain. Houston sunk about 1 inche after Harvey passed.
NEVER UNDERSTMATE MOTHER NATURE the way Harvey turned from extra tropical to a hurricane then literally BASHING Houston is magnificent!
it was a remnant low, the OTHER type of post-tropical cyclone. still close, practically can be the same thing, so you're correct :)

I am still shocked as to how Irma battered so many places, from Barbuda to Florida. We all thought Harvey was done for when it weakened in the Caribbean, but it somehow managed to redevelop in the GOM and slam Texas, causing heavy rainfall and flooding in the state. Maria demolished Dominica and Puerto Rico and Nate was the costliest storm on record for Costa Rica
Same here, I actually didn't expect a Category 5 to make that many landfalls in such a short period
Irma ended up withering away east of St. Louis.

Hurricane Irma hit florida (exactly where I was staying) 1 month after I had left florida.
I prefer this over 2005 V.5 because it was Force Thirteen’s commentary, and not some random news reports.

It should be noted that F13 regards Jose as a C5 although for some reason, this animation made by Nathan doesn't feature that. Jose peaked between two recon passes and recon still found support for 135kts after its sat presentation degraded
likely a downgrade after they took a look back at Jose

The only way a hurricane name can be retired is
1. It has to cause catastrophic damage (Emily did not achieve that)
2. It has to be deadly (not achieved)
3. It has to have A whole lot of US dollars from destruction (not achieved)

I was first introduced to Supercell in a 2008 animation.
Harvey, Irma, and Maria, all in one season. Most seasons only have about 3 major hurricanes at all. 2017 had 3 of them making devastating landfall.
Irma Made me quit on that whole calendar year got me good in here in Tampa FL

2017 was insane. The activity was highb, but not insane (I consider 19 or more insane), but the intensity was high. Costliest season ever. Despite this, I still claim 2005 to be the most notorious season of all time.
Well seasons can be insane without 19 or more storms, 2004 had 16 storms but had 7 majors and was hell for florida
if 2005 is the reckless ATL season, then 2020 is his cheap copy (Comparing Brands stuff vs Today's House stuff)
2022 had Ian being the first ever 100B dollar storm since Irma

Well, Super Typhoon Odette (Typhoon Rai) caused problems, and therefore the 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season Animation was delayed into early January 2022.
6:03 or September 8th 2017 is probably the most unforgettable day in tropics history. Most intense day in atlanic history with tons of ACE being produced. And on that day, no matter where you were and who the people were, they were talking about these storms. Only other time i can think about this happening is August 29th 2005 and maybe during Jeanne 2004 (florida hurricanes in general). And for international people, November 8th 2013 for Haiyan.

There are also other days where storms are widely talked about, i guess Sandy's landfall at new england counts too. Also Hagibis on the day of its landfall was very well covered on international news.

This presentation was amazing, I love this style of animation and I think that this animation even beat out 2020.
But the memories too, it’s my and many others true beginning of Tc tracking. It made a difference on everybody, even if they were watching from afar. 2017 was an extremely devastating year filled with fatalities and mourning, but also a point which turned the weather community into a reality.
I am happy watching the whole communities history, and meeting so many kind, caring, and amazing people along the way. This animation gets a 10/10, and the fact that 2017 was the year that made millions realize that climate change is real, I believe that it, along with 2005 and 2020, is one of the pioneers of TC awareness and overall climate change awareness. Amazing!
