      @notmrpopular0099 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah, I think Idalia may remain on the list, its damages is like ~$3bn in damages and like around 10 deaths. As such, Idalia's damages paled in comparison to some storms like Isaias and Sally, and especially falls flat against Laura, Ida, and Ian. The latter two was within the past two seasons...

    2023, Despite it's activity, it was a relatively low impact hurricane season, having the fewest deaths from any hurricane season since i believe 2014. Of course we had Idalia being a major hurricane landfall in a sparsely populated area of florida, hurricane Franklin being a photogenic category 4 hurricane and hurricane Lee, the storm that managed to have the fastest intensification phase in the Atlantic since hurricane Felix. August and September were incredibly active due to warm sea surface temperatures in the open Atlantic, which also led to hurricane Tammy becoming a category 2 towards the end of October.

      You gotta remember, 4Billion, yes it's less then Ian 2022 but that's still a lot of damage.
      As an example of how much that is, take the small country of Slovenia. It whole GDP is 68 give or take billion dollar's

    Pretty good animation! I like the new layout for the summary. The only downside I can really say would definitely be the music choice. The first music was very wonky the second was alright and at least the last one had a new tone. I personally was hoping to see a unique music choice for this season since it’s a way more waited animation than any others. But other than that it was great.

    21 (Sub)TD. 20 (Sub)TS, 7 Hurricanes, 3 Majors, and a category 5. Only one MH landfall. This ended the 3 year 150mph+ landfall streak in the US, and the 8 year 150mph+ landfall streak anywhere in the basin. Although not deadly or very costly, this season could be used as the phase "It only takes one." as seen with Idalia, which has a chance at getting retired. This is a reminder, that not all active season are costly & deadly.

    The Atlantic did well to produce this many names and a Category 5 to boot despite the otherwise hostile "El Niño" conditions. The fact that it still managed to produce this many names leads me to a quite disturbing thought, and that is we have yet to see what the Atlantic can really do and that the likes of 2005 and 2020 are only warning shots.
    Lee continued the 9 year streak of the Atlantic Basin producing officially rated 135kt+ storms that began with Joaquin (2015). It is also likely go down as the Strongest Atlantic Hurricane not to be retired, surpassing the likes of Emily (2005) and Lorenzo (2019) which officially peaked at 140kt.

    Ah yes, the season animation for the ATL this year is here: the 2023 ATL Hurricane Season! Started off with an unexpected subtropical storm (which should've been named) in January, a pretty early start. Then the actual season begun with quite an active June, a hurricane in July, and then things really ramped up in mid-August. Four storms named within a 48-hour period, one of which became an impressive looking major hurricane. The dreaded I-curse continued with it targeting Florida for the 2nd year in row, and then the big guy: Lee. A few more hurricanes then some short-lived tropical storms, and the season ended with a bit off Caribbean madness.
    Overall, the 4th most active ATL hurricane season, although, thankfully, a rather less destructive one compared to the 7 or so previous seasons thanks to an El Nino, and a C5 with a stunning appearance that didn't really affect anybody (apart from Maine, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland of course). Shall I say anything else but this season was interesting?
    Btw, the 2024 season already looks to be......yea

    • @notmrpopular0099
      @notmrpopular0099 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Idk, the current forecast we have is literally 5-6 months before the season starts, but the El Nino may be on the decline in the coming months... In the Climate Prediction Center's website, you can find ENSO outlooks issued every week, usually a Monday. Unless if the El Nino's holding on, I'll consider 2024 ATL season early outlook as a possibility for now.

    Look out, I storms: L storms are starting to become "Major" threats.
    Ever since it replaced Lenny, Lee had been synonymous with failure.
    Even in 2017 Lee managed to fail... despite finally doing something.
    Then 2023 came.
    Lee, a name considered an automatic Failicia in it's first three uses, stands up and becomes the strongest storm of the season, along with providing an ACE well north of 30.
    Thank you, Lee, for showing us you're not a Failicia after all.
    This brings me a interesting fact: L storms have been flexing their muscles lately. Lorenzo in 2019, Laura in 2020, Larry in 2021 and now Lee in 2023.
    Four of the past five years have had the L storm be a Major Hurricane.
    Could we be on the verge of a new trend, one where the L storm is almost always a powerhouse?
    Don't forget that we had a monster L storm in the EPAC in 2018 in the form of Lane, too.
