My husband had unexplained blood clots in both lungs at Christmas. Prayers for your daughter's recovery and your eye treatments. Keep sewing!!
Oh wow that’s so scary! I hope your husband is doing OK now. It’s amazing what all happens to everybody it seems. My daughter is doing better although I do worry a little bit about the blood thinners for six months. Thank you so much Erin! I really appreciate it so much. I do love that fabric on the twist front top. It’s so soft and lightweight so I think I’ll be able to wear it for quite a while. The linen blend fabric is so pretty. I did the same thing you did, I stood in Hobby Lobby one day and just held it and looked at it but, it wasn’t on sale at that time so when I went on online and checked and it was on sale, I couldn’t wait to get a little bit of it. Your name has been in my prayer bowl of intentions for a while now and I will pray for your daughter as well. If "every hair on our head is counted" then no request is ever too much to ask of our infinite God! It's good you have found a doctor that feels like a good fit for you and really good a potential issue was found and treated. Everything you made is lovely, by the way!

eye issues are no joke. I have a macular pucker in the left eye - whatever caused that, caused some double vision. I've been struggling with that for way too long. Anyway - just saying I completely understand and I hope things go well for you with this doctor!
Goodness, you’ve had a lot on your plate this week. Certainly happy to pray for you and your daughter with all that you’ve had thrown at you. Sounds like a great fit (sewing pun intended) with you and your new retina specialist. Never heard of that condition you mentioned but so glad you shared this knowledge. Agree that this one hour spring forward was so much easier to absorb when I was ten years younger 😢.

Diann, I've missed you! Glad your back. That twist knot front top is so cute on you! I need to pick up that pattern. N6298 does indeed has a wide neckline I found that too. Yours came out beautiful. I'm loving green too these days. Looks great on you. I would love to get that Miranda Tee pattern but I have no luck how to download free patterns. I just tried it and I get this weird menu at my bookmarks bar. I can't do it. I'll have to skip it. I'm so glad you found a new eye doctor. He sounds like a wonderful doctor. So thorough and caring. Oh my goodness,,, where in the south are you? I’m from Alabama. (Roll Tide) I am living in Arizona now. I miss those of us that sound this way! God bless ya and your eyes. My mama had the same thing and she taught us so much before she went blind. Even though you may not need it now,,, contact someone connected with the American blind asso. They will prepare you so that you and your family will be ready. I know I thanked God for advance teachings! (I think we all went thru this about 5 years before she needed us). Thank you so much! I live in the mountains of western North Carolina. It’s great to hear somebody that sounds the way I do but, it doesn’t happen often. I have a very strong accent and not sure if it’s just the area or maybe just me lol that is great advice, and I certainly will heed it. The association for the blind had helped my mom and dad quite a bit but they didn’t get involved until their vision was already pretty far gone so I will certainly heed your advice and thank you so much. I’m really grateful. I have never been to Arizona, but sure would love to go someday. It’s beautiful from what I hear my husband‘s been there years ago but you’re a long way away from home. Diane, do you ever wonder if our Lord brings people together in the most extraordinary ways? I believe He does! I am a very big fan of Jen of Today in Jen’s Sewing Room and in a round-about way, found your TH-cam channel through her. Your #fridaysews 3-15-24 Makes, plans, patterns (including two free) and fabric looked interesting so I watched this morning. I so enjoyed listening to you talk about your sewing adventures the past three weeks that I just had to have more! So I subscribed, of course! I can only watch so many sewing videos otherwise I’ll get no sewing done myself! But, your channel is a must for me! I’d like to chime in on the issues you are having with your eyes. I truly believe our Lord worked through your friends, family, subscribers to guide you to the new doctor. Don’t compare yourself to your Mama and Daddy, because there is so much new technology available to these eye specialists today than there was just five years ago! Trust in the Lord’s plan. You mentioned one of your conditions was caused from steroid use. I have Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and for years I was given 3 or 5-day round of intravenous Solu-Medrol steroids. My eyes were affected greatly, along with other non-M.S. related body organs, and I stopped. But, I can still remember the unpredictable way the damaged optic nerve would act. It is most definitely not selfish to ask for prayers; I believe our Lord wants and encourages us to pray for one another. My prayers are with you for patience and strength to endure and for your doctor to continue his work to help you. Isn’t it wonderful that we have sewing to take us to a happy place? I have been so blessed to make friends like you here on TH-cam. My even being on here has to be the Lord working. I would never had the courage to try it otherwise!
I am sorry you have such serious health problems… I have been type 1 diabetic for almost 40 years. I do feel like some medications are almost worse than the illnesses they treat. I know they are necessary… without insulin … I wouldn’t be here. But so many problems can be caused by the medications.

First of all I'm so pleased to hear you have had a second opinion on your eyes and that they have spotted something in the other eye that would have been overlooked. You are in my thoughts and I hope all continues to improve and also sending thoughts to your poor daughter, what a time you and your family have had recently.
Now to sewing, yes that New Look dress is so wide at the top! I've had exactly the same issue every time I have made it! You have reminded me to put a note on my pattern thank you. It still looks wonderful on you though and that pillow was quite a project 😂, all that stuffing!! 😮. Thinking of you over here and best wishes Diann ❤ 🍓

Hello sweet Diann, of course, I’ll send prayers for your eyes. And hope your dr is finally got you on the right path so they’ll be as great and healthy as they can be with your diabetes and new retina conditions too. So glad you saw a new specialist! That is the best!!!! . My left knee replacement surgery is April 2 so I’ll ask for prayers too. I’m praying I won’t develop any blood clots as I did 3 yrs ago following my serious two surgery back surgeries. Yes, I truly know what having blood clots are! By the time I got to the scan on my left leg and they found I had a clot there plus, it had passed on or broke off into both lungs!!! I know how scary it really is! The hematologist said through blood tests it was or developed because of my two back surgeries. I HAD to have my spine worked on as I had osteoporosis so bad I could no longer walk but a few steps nor sit down either as pain radiated down n up my spine. I was a total mess. But the mighty Lord saw me through it. Hoping your daughter will improve with medicine, Take care and sew as you can,,, Ive truly got to straighten and clean up my messy sewing room, aka area. My hubs has been out of town so I’ve planned on sewing and has yet to happen. I have my only grandchild, Alex ,here with me several days a wk too. He can vacuum when I can’t and help me out. Hi Diann, thank you for the update on your eyes. I’m so glad to hear you found a good doctor. I will continue to pray for you and I will add your daughter. As for sewing I think you got a lot done in 3 weeks. I really like your Mcalls dress. If I make it I will try to do something about the neckline because I have the same problem with necklines being too big. Hey Diann I hope your daughter is feeling better. I’m making the Miranda tee from Tiana‘s closet as I’m listening to you. My input-the shoulders are very big and the gathering is much less than is shown on the pictures. It went together very smoothly. I did lengthen the sleeves as they were pretty short for an old lady. I have the same problem with my vision. Am receiving the proper treatment and am confident with the Lord's help I will be ok. Will be praying for you.

Have you tried cutting the neck front & back a size smaller? That might help with the fit - I have to do this. Said a prayer for you & your daughter.

Hi Diane, What a stressful time for you and your daughter. Of course I will pray for you. What a good job you decided to change to another consultant because he obviously is very thorough. If you had stayed at your previous doctor this might never have been found. As I have said before I love watching your videos. I had to laugh when you said. you used a feather pillow but your allergic to feathers ! 😊

Hi Diana, I just found your TH-cam channel. I am so sorry about your eye diagnosis and I definitely will keep you in my prayers❤️ Sounds like the Lord has given you peace through your eye diagnosis. Also glad to hear your daughter is doing better. And I love your makes! You have the same likes as me. I made the top with the twist at the hemline and I loved how it turned out. I also made the sweatshirt that you are about to cut out. I really like it too but the neckline is a little bigger than a normal store bought sweatshirt, at least on me. I have the dress pattern but am trying to decide what fabric to use. Would like to have it made by Easter😊🙏

Diann, i am glad you found a good doctor for your eyes. I eill be praying for you. My mom had diabetic retinopathy and my dad has macular degeneration and now they are watching me for that. I told my husband that we need to go see everything we want now before my vision fades. I love that T-shirt with the twist and your fabric from Hobby Lobby.

You explain your eye issues really well. Obviously you have a good understanding of what the doctor said. 🙏 for you and your daughter. Your body pillow is great. I laughed out loud at the photo of the fluffy filling. Life does get busy but I keep trying to eek out time to sew. Hope the same for you.

Diann, of course I will pray and asking for prayer is never selfish. God knows what we need before we do. There is so much technology out there in the medical field, now. All will be well. I have a son who was a candidate for a cornea transplant, but the wait time is long. In the meantime the technology to correct his condition with the use of computers and special contact lenses has been developed and the vision in that eye has been restored to almost normal. God is good ♥. Keep on sewing. I am growing cataracts and developing macular degeneration, so am trying to finish some of my cross stitch projects that have been on the go for years 🤣 before I won't be able to see the fine details. I hope to sew and crochet for many years to come. God Bless, and again all will be well. Happy sewing! Bernadette

Firstly, I must say you seem like a really nice person. It definitely is not selfish to ask for prayer. The reason you find these patterns wide is that you need a smaller size and grade out to waist and hips if necessary. If going by the bust measurement use the high bust. I made clothes for years that were too big on the top for me and discovered this a few years ago. Perhaps with the smaller size you would need a large bust adjustment in view of the fact that you find it is too tight across the bust. Hope you don’t find this as a negative comment, just trying to help. The red fabric is gorgeous. I love linen blend fabrics.

Glad to see you again. I missed you and get worried when I don't see one of my favorite sewists for a while. I am type 2 diabetic and now as I am getting older I find my vision is not what it used to be. I take my medication everyday (I am not insulin dependent) . I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best. The dress and top you made are really nice, you do a great job😊

For years i have used a pillow for betweem my knees and it has been a back saver for many years.
