Downloaded the Unfettered jumpsuit pattern yesterday, then found your video today, thank you! I'm hoping it's true to size and not a lot of alterations needed. Look forward to others that have made it, commenting here
My daughter is a lefty and I have always provided her lefty scissors, even when she was young and they were so pricey! As she hit teendom I bought her a good pair of Fiskars fabric scissors, also lefty. Now she has moved out of home I was sure to include a pair of lefty scissors in her stuff. If anyone who's right handed has ever tried to cut using regular scissors with their left hand they'd understand just how hard it is and how appropriate tools are important to people who need them. The pair you shared from LDH look dreamy!
What a good Mom! I always had them when I was little, but not after that. I use my right hand with scissors (until now) but I use my rotary cutter with both.
Absolutely yes, I love the curated selection of free sewing and crochet patterns! It's so hard to remember to check all of the sources, and you've also shared several that I hadn't heard of before. Please do keep up this type of video!
Thanks for the free pattern companies. I downloaded two from unfettered and one from Tiana’s closet. One Unfettered pattern is a short cardigan with puffy sleeves that I need for summer dresses.
I am left handed!! I am JUST starting to learn to sew, but I purchased a pair of left-handed fabric shears because something tells me I am just going to LOVE sewing. Thank you for the pattern inspo!
Are you? Amazing. I’m glad you’re starting out sewing with proper scissors. I know you’re going to love it- can’t wait to see what you make! Happy Canada Day!
I’m late to your party but I LOVE so many of the patterns. Has sparked my creativity and excitement as I am currently limiting myself from purchasing patterns. Thank you!!!
Great range - love this feature. Have made several zero waste items - fabulous and very varied. The drape of the chosen fabric is key to getting a particular shape/silhouette. You should definitely give it a go x
thanks for another free patterns video! I made the zero waste gather dress by Birgitta Helmersson, TWICE! and I will probably make it again, because it is great.
Ooh you lucky duck, I've been coveting LDH shears for some time. I'm Torontonian also, still living in "the 6" as they call it now lol. I use a pair of Fiskars that cut nicely but the plastic handle has a ridge that hurts my hand after a while.
Thank you, Lisa! I really enjoy these videos. I have made one pattern from Tiana's closet. It was the Gilian front ruched dress. I need a full bicep adjustment there, but otherwise it is a lovely dress. Very minimal instructions, though. It is only a short list of basic instructions, like Burda style. I would maybe hesitate to try a very complicated pattern there, but for the more basic ones, it is fine.
I saw the Angie Tank today from Lydia Naomi and downloaded it right away. I can see it being a great stash buster and it looks like it might be reversible. I have made the Common Stitch no waste dress and I really enjoyed the.pattern. the pattern. The elastic brings it in and it's basically measuring out one rectangle plus the channels for the elastic. I used a broderie anglaise with a beautiful scalloped hem. It also removed one of the channels to make it fit like I wanted, so it's easy to modify.
As someone who prefers things to fit very well, there are a lot of zero or low-waste designs that I will not make, or won't wear outside of the house, because they tend to be very boxy. However, that said, I think they are a fantastic idea and some of them are very cute! I have made the Cris Wood Sews Parasol Dress and it's very comfy and cute. I also want to make a bog jacket for fall. The zero waste designs you showed here look a lot nicer than some I've seen. Not zero waste, but George & Ginger Patterns has some freebies that are actually unique! Most of them are in the "Old Size Chart" section.
@@Lisamakes Overall yes. The sleeves should have been a bit shorter for 3/4. They were in between 3/4 and long sleeve, a bit weird leght. I think there would have been too much gathering for a fabric like cotton. The only thing I would change is the sleeve lenght.
The Maya ruffle dress is a tutorial and you can insert your own measurements. I've made s few of them and with the right fabric it is very beautiful. Tiny rant: free patterns are a marketing tool and having a small size range tells me the company isn't interested in my business. I even find it a little insulting when sizing is pretty limited.
Totally fair rant. I go back and forth on which patterns I should include and I which I shouldn’t. There are often patterns I don’t share for that reason, but I feel that if within the video there is a good size range then I can include a few that are less so- especially if the pattern has extra ease or seems easily adjustable. I do hear you, though. ❤️
Thanks for sharing a Canadian company. My husband is left handed and i never truly appreciated the challenges he faces until I spent almost a year being left handed due to a right arm injury. Some of those patterns look very interesting. I thought a few of them would make great bathing suit tops.
I always enjoy your free patterns Vlogs. I have made a pair of zero waste pants and didn't really like the fit. the zero waste was partially making bigger seams, so there was much more fabric on the inside. I save all my scraps for making a poof so nothing goes to waste.
I have tried to download the Ines top by Homi patterns, however the test square is measuring 3.8cm instead of 5cm despite the setting being 100%. Please can anyone help? Thank you.
Have you tried downloading the app for your printer? That helps sometimes. Or you can increase the percentage above 100% by trial and error until you get the right size.
I made the Ruffle top by Tina's closet. It was great but be warned when you are printing out the pattern you really need to make sure you only print the size you need as the sizes aren't marked and the lines are all the same! Very confusing
😅1 of my sisters is left handed. Back then if you were left handed it was looked on as a disability so you had your knuckles rapped. I'm so glad the world has moved on ❤
On zero waste patterns: what is the use of making something that does not flatter your shape, or is not to your taste, just for the sake of it? Rather do Less Waste, or Cut this way to have enough left to make whatever. Ultimately, all of that fabric in the boxy, ruffly dress is still going to end up the same place as the fabric and leftovers of the fitted, princess seam dress. I am not against the Zero Waste idea at all, but not just for the sake of Zero Waste 😊
Really impressed with Unfettered.
I am, too! So many cool patterns.
I've been collecting true left-handed scissors for years! Invaluable! It also keeps right-handed family members from using your scissors.
Really! Amazing.
Threads zero waste sundress is awesome! Thank you!
It really is!
Hi Lisa, my name is Lisa and I'm also left-handed, so I completely understand about scissors.
Hi Lisa! When you know you know. ;)
My grandfather, my brother, my son, & my granddaughter are all lefties!
Wow! That’s so cool. I’m the only one in my family. I was hoping one of my kids would be, but nope!
Always a great selection from you and some amazing patterns! Zero waste does look interesting!
Thanks again Lisa x
WOW! Thank you! Great selection of freebies
You’re welcome!
Thanks for doing this Lisa.
My pleasure!
Awesome great free patterns!

Love the unfettered! I’m sewing for adult granddaughters and I know they’d love lots of these ones.
Yes! My teenagers love a lot of them.
Thank you for introducing this website on free patterns. I liked the Ines Top.
Glad it was helpful!

Great video. A lot of these are new to me so I'm going to check them out. Thanks from a fellow Canuk 🇨🇦

Happy almost Canada Day! 🇨🇦😘

That’s a cute one!
Thank you Lisa for a great selection of free patterns. I have the LDH fabric shears, snips and rotary cutter, they are incredible.
That’s so good to hear!
I made the ruffled top from Tianas Closet and love it so much I have started another in a different colour.
Oh cool!

you are amazing!! thank you for sharing!!! 🥰
I’m a lefty, so excited to check out the scissors
That’s great! Do you use lefty scissors now?
@@Lisamakes no, I have been buying scissors at Rossman store. They are fabulous and around 5€
Great new patterns. Thank you for the resources!
Glad you like them!
Great sources. Thank you.
My pleasure
Great range - love this feature. Have made several zero waste items - fabulous and very varied. The drape of the chosen fabric is key to getting a particular shape/silhouette. You should definitely give it a go x
Good point! With “extra fabric” a little more drape is probably best.
Thank you, Lisa, really great recommendations! I’ll be making the Unfettered jumpsuit for my holidays 😊 xx
I might do that, too!
I have a pair of left handed scissors and have had trouble using them. I will persevere
Keep at it! It does take practice. ;)
Thank you!!!!!!❤❤❤
You are so welcome!
My sister is a lefty and always struggled with scissors and writing with the metal binding on note books
That’s an interesting one! I always turn my notebook almost a full 90 degrees. Maybe that’s why it didn’t bother me.
Thanks a lot for these x
You’re welcome!
Thank you! So many pretty patterns!
Glad you like them!
Thank you Lisa. I love the Unfettered Patterns - just downloaded their Long Dress pattern ❤
So many great patterns! I’d love to see your version of any of these! Unfettered had quite a selection!
👍
Coming soon!
I love my LDH scissors! No idea they were Canadian #bonus!
Yes! I was pleasantly surprised, too!
Great patterns thank you
I made a top and a nightie and 3 dresses from the Andrea pattern. 2 in linen. A few tweaks and they all look a little different. Love it.
Wow! Talk about getting the most from a pattern! Amazing.
thanks for another free patterns video!
I made the zero waste gather dress by Birgitta Helmersson, TWICE! and I will probably make it again, because it is great.
Oh! I’ll have to check it out!
Lefty too! I gave up on lefty scissors years ago, but do use my rotary cutter in the “lefty” orientation. So cool there are new options to try
So funny, right? I never even thought about getting lefty scissors and adult.
These are some great patterns, thank you so much 👍
My pleasure!

Good to know! I’m sure it’s gorgeous in broderie anglaise. I bet it would be cute hacked to top length, too.
I made one of Tiana's and it's gorgeous! and I'm tempt to make more of her's
Good to know! I think I will put a few of hers on my list. Thanks!

Yes, zero waste really is an interesting concept! I’ve featured a few George and Ginger patterns in other free pattern videos. They’re great!
@@Lisamakes Cris Wood Sews has a new Glow Dress out that I'm interested to try.
I’ll have to check it out.
Thanks
My granddaughter is left handed and as she (at 14) has taken to sewing her own clothes I have bought her left handed scissors.
That’s so nice!
I think I have to get the dress for Andrea 😂
Ha, ha- totally!
I'm a lefty and haven't seen a left handed scissors in 40 years.
I honestly had forgotten they existed!
Inez and Get It Together
From Tianas Closet, I have made the Candice dress. I made it in viscose and I reeealy like it :)
Oh good! You found the pattern was well drafted?

Aaaaahhh, left handed scissors! The struggle is real!
Right???
Hi! Did you make the dress you’re wearing? If so which pattern did you use? Great video thank you!
I did! It’s the Charlie Caftan by Closet Core Patterns.
@@Lisamakes ok I will check it out it is so cute! Thank you so much!

I'm left handed but I can't cut left handed for somereason, I evenhsve fancy left handed scissors....that I use with my right hand lol.
So funny! I’ve just been using my right all this time, but I’m looking forward to changing that.

NOT....
SEAMSTRESS YES !
Sewist is the current term for someone whose hobby it is to sew.
When you know, you know. ;)

Yes! This was the late 70’s and my mom always went out of her way to make sure I never felt weird. ❤️
But the left handed scissor were always sharp!
That’s true!
