    I was born in America, but my father was from Liverpool and for some reason this film popped back into his mind like 30 something years after the fact, and decided it would be a good idea to show it to me when I was like 13. It was a bummer to say the least...

      "It was a bummer" is a pretty fair summary of this movie, yeah.

    If you need ideas for some more depression kino, you prolly have to check out Come and See. 1985 Soviet movie about how fucked up the Nazi occupation of Belarus was and it was depressing enough that the creator had to fight the soviet authorities for almost a decade before getting to make it.

    • @WeHeartGiantRobots
      @WeHeartGiantRobots  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Come And See's come up several times in our videos (usually when the subject of child soldiers and just sheer misery comes up), so it's 100% something we aim to cover.

    Nuclear winter is incredibly overblown, not least because it was a lever to support nuclear disarmament, with even papers pointing out how mild 'nuclear autumn' would be going out of their way to downplay their correction to the record because convincing people nuclear war is a bad idea is important.
