small bit of information: there isn't a machine right now that can crochet, so anything you find crocheted was definitely made by hand :) And I figure you know this, but pretty much all clothing items have been handled and manipulated by human hands for finishing or construction generally, so weirdly...all clothes are sort of "made by hand" in a way :)
I sometimes I get confused by how knitting and crochet looks compared to each other especially since sometimes fast fashion brands make their fake “crochet” pieces look super realistic so I think I meant I don’t know if it’s crochet or knitted or fake crochet which I guess then would be knitted maybe and also if it was like one individual making them or was mass produced maybe even from Amazon type of thing since there was no tag ❤️
i've never seen a person think about other people when thrifting, stopping themselves from alterimg clothes because they might be someone else's dream 🥺 you're truly a kind person and i've always enjoyed your content even if our style is completely different!
I’ve been a subscriber for years now, and I loved the longer format of the video. I’d love to see more of these with your extended thoughts and commentary while thrifting. It’s so nice to tune into perusal, but I feel like it also gives more room for your personality to shine through. I love to hear your thought process while thrifting as well as seeing how these items are styled during the hall portion of the video. Of all of your videos, this has to be my absolute favorite. Love, love, love this! ❤
If you haven't seen it already, you need to watch Living Single! It's a treasure trove of iconic 90s fashion. Each character has such well thought out, specific style. The comedy also holds up!
I thought of you when I was at Marshall's and saw a pair of ballet flats that were similar to ones I'd wanted for a while. I held off and went thrifting a few days later and found a pair that was exactly what I wanted and a fraction of the price. Thank you for always bringing thrifting wisdom to your videos!
😘90s fashion is still a top favorite of mine. ❤Love all those 🎬TV shows & films you mentioned👍. 👀Been seeing short clips of Friends📺 lately on this platform 〰️ & getting lots of inspo from both Monica & Phoebs. Although the two characters have different styles, they work well w/my vibe & also what I already own too. 🎉Yay!🎉 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
@@teresacarle294 I know exactly what you mean! Friends is so great to get style inspo because I like a mix of all three styles- hippie Phoebe, trendy Rachel, and sporty Monica. I watched Practical Magic last night and Nicole Kidman wears this beautiful ice blue slip dress with a little cardigan and it reminded me of Alexa!
That denim embroidered top look terrific on you and is so cute!!! Also that smile when you wear the white frilly top is what I aim for when thrifting! When it’s not a “hell yes” Im not getting it lolol
As soon as you tried on the black (yes, its black) & white stripe I said "wow, hope she gets that". Great fit. Same for that white blouse and the velvet dress and the green tee. Perfect choices, great wardrobe extenders. I wear a size 11 shoe and seldom...and I mean seldom.. do I find shoes for myself at a thrift store so I understand the joy in finding a pair that are your size.
Just want you to know that since that video when you had a dilemma about your style, you’ve changed so much! You are literally shining or glowing ✨! Your hair looks amazing and I am so happy for you that you figure out your style, it’s really suits you!❤ That you for your amazing content!🫶🏻💕
You should try cross stitching yourself it’s fairly easy and fun. I even learned how to embroider characters on my own clothes by practicing cross stitching.
I'm a new subscriber and i want to say I am so happy i found your channel! Even though your style doesn't line up with mine i feel like that makes it more useful in a way because i feel so inspired by your process of thrifting/styling clothes rather than the style itself. I try to shop secondhand but it feels so disheartening and i feel like you have really rejuvenated my interest in (and stamina for) the long haul of it all, figuring out what your style is and your wardrobe needs are and shopping for those instead of getting suckered into buying things because it's the only one here and what if you can't find it again later etc.
Making a paste with bicarbonate of soda and water , spreading it on areas with yellowing from perspiration and leaving it for an hour or so before washing is a trick I use- if you do it periodically on a new white shirt you can prevent yellowing too
Our thrift stores keep out everything all year except bathing suits and parkas. 🇨🇦 Seeing as we get -45C in winter it makes sense to put bathing suits away. Spring, summer & fall all have sweater days....
Most brands use polyester thread even on natural fibre fabric (and don’t count it in the fabric content), so an eyelet top which has tons of stitching around the holes can feel scratchy and uncomfortable even if the fabric itself is cotton.
11:05 Francesca’s is a boutique that sells small business designs!! I love them for being a more affordable way to wear vendors that make their clothing really well. Their issue tho is that they’re behind on paying said vendors smh
I love thrifting but these days I am trying to live in a lifesryle that only requires minimum consumption/expense. I used to thrift every week. I now finally downsized to 2 wardrobes, 3 plastic storage boxes and 3 separate chest drawers. Still alot 😂 I only watch what ppl buy and admire from afar ❤
Love the white blouse and black dress you showed at the end. So cute! I’m going to bingo today and hope to go after to a thrift shop I have not been to before.
My favorite is that black + white striped top! And yes I think its black.. I was to the thrift yesterday ( Saturday) and it was already shifted over to autumn. Lots of sweaters, winter coats, etc. The tank tops + stuff were all gone. I found a few coin purses and wool sweaters! I know you love cotton but cotton is deadly in winter. It gets wet × stays wet a long time! Plus its not warm at all. Its great for California but not here. I suppose its ok for those slightly chilly days but not actual winter. I get excited when i find cashmere!
I might be wrong, but I think the pieces you called punch needle is actually cross stitch? At least they look like the little frames my mom has from when she used to have to practice cross stitch in school! Dutch thrift stores usually switch out shorts and swimwear for thicker sweaters and coats in september/october. CAN’T WAIT 😍
What a fun and cute video! That last red top was really pretty too ❤ And perfect timing as I went thrifting yesterday too and all their clothes (exept the ones from the "a bit better" sectio) were like a $1, not many faancy thing were found but got to find some nice jeans and basic tops (also one I already had in a diffent color so that was nice!) 😁✨️
That white top and the black velvet dress judt scream ALEXA! Perfect finds for you! 😍 I also love the loafers so much! I wish I could find those in my size. I'm an 11, but I think I need more like a 10 1/2 in a loafer because my heels always, always slide right out of any type of slip on shoe. 🫤 I really liked the black Madewell dress on you, too. It looked so cute, and like it would be very comfy and breezy on a hot day. Or even as a swimsuit coverup at the beach or something. Idk, black linen is something I personally have a hard time passing up!
Your perfect light wash denim maxi skirt is from free people! Trust me it's called the come as you are denim maxi & they come up a lot on Depop & poshmark, it's the most comfortable denim maxi I've ever had, I have 4 of them now & gifted one to my grandmother 😂
I found a Reformation red top but it was so small so I found another thrifter younger than me that would fit the top and gave it to them to get, which they did.
I always love watching your thrift videos. You have so much joy when you find something like. I sure hope you got the cat picture. I am sad that you didn’t get the jean jumpsuit, I truly think it would have been a great fit. What color and brand is your lipstick 😊
Great video, definitely one of the most successful thrift hauls in a while! The shoes you found reminded me of a video request: could you make a video about how you purchase shoes? Because I'm in desperate need of some new shoes but it's so hard to find! I would love to buy it sustainably, second hand or even from a sustainable brand. But I have never succeeded with buying shoes online. In real life (both in the thrift store and fast fashion) I just can't seem to find anything that I like and also trust the quality of. I feel like you have so many good shoes and I need to know how you do it! I mean it might just be that I don't have huge thrift stores or sustainable shops nearby but idk maybe there is some wisdom I'm missing.
So jealous of the lingery section. Here it s barely excisting I never ever seen velvet dresses in our thriftstores. Bummer Would love one That needlework was so good Loving the black dresses. That white shirt ,wide blouse is stunning on you! Love the black caleo lace top. Thank you for sharing your scores with us
my thrift stores in BC and Alberta (I've lived in both) Canada keep everything out except very specific holiday stuff like Christmas and halloween clothes/decorations. all weather type clothes are out all the time
Alexa you have so much self control. I love the Jean dress you wore going to thrift store, so hard to find perfect fit on jean anything, I was in the guess store the other day they had very soft Jean jackets in 4 colours, only thing that sucks it was $85 plus tax. It was bogo half price but still expensive
you gotta be cool with casual wrinkles to vibe with linen. The linen pieces I own wrinkle if I even breathe near them, the 100% linen pieces are also not a strong fabric so its better to go with something with nylon or elastane in it so there's some kind of stretch and it doesn't like rip up the inside thigh when you squat (happened to me and I have barely worn them since)
Hi Alexa; I would love a video discussing how to shop for vintage and designer items from the thrift. In addition how to spot when to leave something? Love your content!!! 🙂🌞

Yes, not all fast fashion is made well but It just makes me sad to think about even more fast fashion (or any items) ending up filling our landfills because people don't buy them second hand just because they are from a certain brand. Anyways... I'm going to get off my opinion soapbox now. Again, I'm not trying to be a critical ass, it's just something I hope inspires a few people to look past the label! Thrift, be merry and keep up the great work Alexa sunshine 83, it's always sunny here boop!

I crocheted purses one year for Christmas during the 1970s. Crochet (and macrame) were very big then.
i've never seen a person think about other people when thrifting, stopping themselves from alterimg clothes because they might be someone else's dream 🥺 you're truly a kind person and i've always enjoyed your content even if our style is completely different!
i love seeing other people fixing an item if it’s hanging off of the rack :) thank you for being a responsible thrifter!
your reasons for leaving behind clothes are so smart to avoid overconsumption. I'm also obsessed with everything you got!!
just wanna say that artwork was actually cross stitch and not punch needle! it was so cute 😍
Haha thank you I bumped on this too 😅

That’s exactly what I was thinking!

Me a minute in: I hope she didn't forget her measuring tape coz sale day are good thrifting days!
The AHS detail is so subtle, you could cover it up easily ❤
I totally would have got it! It was sooo cool

Who else got excited when they rolled in the new rack behind her during her try on?😊
The silky black top with purple skirt reminds me sooo much of charmed season 1 😂❤

Omg sooo many amazing finds!!!! I am im love with everything you grabbed!
Since you've been loving Friends fashion lately, can you do a Friends inspired styling video
I found the exact same "girls" sweatshirt at goodwill today when I was thrifting! When I saw you got that, I was like wait I saw that today😂😂😂

THE CAT PUZZLES OMG i did them a few months ago and they were one of my fave styles, they're from trefl!
Not punch needle btw, that was cross stitch :D
I’m so jealous of how many slip dresses they have at your thrift store, if I am lucky my thrift store will have 1 and it’s never my size😭

The black shorts (maybe they’re linen) fit perfect. A great staple.
It's funny how Alexa finds 2 long black velvet dresses in a video posted on the day I am wearing a long black velvet dress. It's my favourite dress
That cat in the back is HUGE
You have found amazing items. Love all of them ♥
The velvet dress is so cute and so you!
The crew neck sweater!! 💖
Love that red vest with the double collar! So unique and cute!

I think the dark stripes on that t-shirt were black - overall great video! I'm happy that you found so many cool things
Alexa! I can't believe you put that chair clock back!!! OMG!!! Nooooo!!!
I have that white UO top in terracotta. I went back to get the white one but it was sold out. I use that top for Christmas parties as it is dressy.
I am french and I'm jealous of your thrift shops, I want to go to US to thrift 😢
The artwork 😮😮😮😮
You're a combo of Rachel, Monica and Phoebe but your overalls are 100% Rachel.
Ahhhh this thrift haul is great!!!
You have the best figure to try on clothes. Everything looks good on you.
I'd buy that cat print! -- didn't realize it was a puzzle.
I've been on a hunt for such shoes for so long and still haven't found them D; awesome find Alexa!
