Aaron! If you ever wonder if what you are doing has an impact - STOP! Your videos are not just an escape from reality for so many, they are not just educational for others, for some.... they are a life saver. I started watching your videos about three months ago in an effort to distract myself from the trauma of divorce. When I was feeling dark and heavy, and tired of crying, I would play one of your episodes to calm me down. Over time, the pain of my situation lessened, but I could not stop watching. I have watched at least 50 so far and I am determined to watch them all. I work, part time, as a safety diver on a shark boat in Jupiter Florida. I am an ocean lover and an amateur (at best) fisherman. I just wanted to drop a comment to say, "THANK YOU!" Thank you for sharing so much with the world and for providing people not only an escape from reality, but an escape from pain. Keep it up brother!
can't thank you enough for taking the time to share, really appreciate it and love to hear you enjoy the videos on that level. really keeps me going. 🙏
One of my favorite things about your spear fishing videos is that you are teaching respect for the resources being harvested. I’ve spear fished in south Florida, the keys, and near Bahamas for 45 years and have seen so many abuses of the resources usually because of ego or ignorance. I appreciate your teaching and approach, peace.
dont get me wrong I fill the boat from time to time but its never wasted. although the older I get the less I need. hope to pass along that message to take only what you need!
I can't quit watching your videos. Thank you so much. Spearfishing and grabbing lobster was my passion when I was younger in the 80's. It is amazing how much is the same yet evolved.
Just found this channel. I wanted to say thank you for all the videos you have posted. I was in Key West in like 93. I dove on those reefs almost every day most days two charters. I fell in love with spearfishing and have my old fun hanging on my wall. These vids bring me right back to that daily life. I loved this time in my life and remember it fondly. Thank you again for all your time. This channel is incredible.
One of the best things I like about all your videos is the transparency. You show the good along with the bad. Always look forward to your and Will’s videos. No need to respond, I see your channel is getting pretty massive(CONGRATS MAN YOU DESERVE IT!!) We understand the amount of time it takes.
We just found your videos and subscribed to your channel we love watching the cooking videos also, we also watch Kelly Young videos are y'all related? Both of y'all are great to watch and learn new things. Thanks again for your videos...🙏 Chuck and Kay
I could watch that underwater scene all day long... I like that camera shot where the drone lifted off of the boat and went high ... Thanks for sharing!!!
We did a bunch of Grouper cheeks when we were down in FL a couple weeks ago they were amazing. Had them by themselves 1st night and tacos the second. Thanks for the suggestions and the kitchen time. Love all the content.
Almost shocking, but at the same time delighted to see that much life swimming around that tree, very inspiring to see!! Bitter shame you hadn't remembered to change out that bent shaft before the Wahoo sighting. Aaron, I'd like to throw my name in for a video on cave/crevice diving and hunting! Thanks for letting us tag along on your day off and witness some truly extraordinary things from glass calm seas to the tree of life and those amazing coral heads at the end. Thank-you Sir!!
Hey Aron, my husband and I have been homeless for 2 years and I have been watching youtubers and I have to say I'm so sick of watching and not doing. I'm done with my life wasting away and not doing anything with it. I want to experience what you do and taste the food you make I think it's time we take a bus south and start living. Thank you for your inspiration and leading us to a new life.
Thanks for another awesome video. My husband and I love your channel and are trying so hard to get outdoors more again, but in the meantime we are definitely able to escape reality through your videos.
Even when the day seems to be a struggle, it made for a great video. Moved to South West Florida a year ago and can't get enough of the water! Actually had my first grouper cheeks last week! Thanks for sharing what you do!
Hey Aaron. I remember you mentioned that you would like to own a home in the Pacific. I dove many places, the vastness and sealife in the Pacific is amazing. There are big schools of unique fish in many of the islands like Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Tuamotu atolls of Tahiti (where the 100+ pounders of wahoo are). The infamous dogtooth tuna is a must-hunt for any Spearo as well. As a Filipino-American, I can say that there are thousands of islands in the pacific that are untouched and teeming with life.
Cave fishing - Yes please! I've visited key west several times while on vacation. I went scuba diving once but never got to do any fishing which I regret. As much as I'd love to go back I'm not sure if i'll be able to, so I'm living one of my dreams vicariously through your YT videos. I'm down for as many different activities and experiences that you're willing to film. Thanks for the videos 👍
That's an awesome sight to see the water flat and calm. I enjoy the fact that you show the missed shots at fish. Like you have said time and again people believe that TH-cam is a fairyland where everything happens exactly the way you want it to every time. Your patience pays off when you apply yourself in the manner that you do that is why I enjoy your page. Some people would just post only the great shots and awesome fish and that actually sucks because it doesn't seem real to myself at least. I watch other channels of course and follow a couple spear fishermen. Most of the time you only see when they shoot the fish or catch the fish and it gets boring because you know it's not always the way it goes. Thanks again for an awesome video cool tree to find in the ocean and yes every time you find something in the water it's usually teeming with life. I couldn't explain it nor could any of the captains that I worked with. Thanks again for the video I look forward to the next.
That barren bottom he first dove reminds me of spear fishing around Key West in only 12 feet of water in the late 1970’s. No scuba tanks just snorkels. Every day several black grouper, hogfish and plenty of mangrove snapper. At night, a few dozen mangrove snapper on rod and reel. As a kid my folks drove us down to the Keys in 1959 and we fished off a bulkhead. The water below us was alive with colorful fish, and they were not all small tropicals.
Hey Aaron! Loving the content & seeing the channel grow! Any chance you could do a video on mahi spearing? I know you've done one before (I know, never dive alone lol), but it would be nice to see some more of that! :D
Why is there a abundance of life around a structure like a tree? As something like a tree dissolves in the water it released nutrients. Other organisms feed on the nutrients, and things that feed on the things that feed on the nutrients and so on until you have Wahoo. Additionally it's 'something' in the water, an object to align yourself to, to guide you. It's never one thing but a multiple of reasons. Those are two that are relevant.
Sorry you didn’t have what you consider a great catch but the abundance of sea life was amazing to watch-awesome “tree of life” footage. So glad you could take that grouper out of it’s misery, and use every bit of it. Loved the drone footage too. Thanks for the best few minutes of my day!
Just a suggestion, flour fish first before dipping in egg. Then the breading. Helps everything bond to it. You may not have to double dip. The tree of life was spectacular!! Another excellent video.
You’re a Very skilled fisherman.keep up the great content. I love seeing the beautiful underwater scenery along with the fishing passion. Tight lines 🎣🫡
Loved the Grouper cheek cooking! I’m a retired Walleye & Perch charter captain, Lake Erie. We will keep the cheeks from medium to large walleyes and use them in a wide variety of dishes. My family likes them in a Chinese style stir fry. I must admit, we never see cheeks that big, so cheek sliders are out of the question. Good job on the video, thanks.
Aaron another great video. As an ex-freshwater conch I would like to see just a bit more of the runs thru the channels by the mangroves. I left in ‘93 for the west coast. I’m always trying to see familiar landmarks. Don’t think I want you to draw a map but maybe just a little bit longer. I miss the Keys and your channel brings me back in my mind. I go back to visit family every 2 or 3 years.
Dredge the filets in 50/50 mix of flour and cornstarch before the egg, and the bread crumbs or batter will stick much better. Thanks again for sharing with us!
Love the videos. Gotta add a bread and butter pickle to the sliders for me…Also, you have to try Frosted Flakes as your breading when frying your fish. Egg wash-crusted Frosted Flakes- fry to golden brown. I have never tried crack but it’s gotta be close because you will keep coming back for it. Great videos!! You bring me back to my life living in Key West when I was a younger man running charters in the mid- 90’s. Please, please keep the content coming.
Nice day out! Do us a favor please remind us at the end to press the like button. So you said press the like button I was writing it. Keep the videos coming I’m so happy for you guys don’t ever give up living the hard dream that you do. Thanks, LV
Standard breading procedure is flour egg breadcrumb-in that order. Flour makes the egg stick, eggs make the breadcrumbs stick. Hope that helps my man. Love the vids. Bid like to see an interview series profiling your friends, tackle shop owners where you buy gear, old salts that have been in the keys forever and some of their stories, any locals that have a story to tell and some character. Thanks.
Sir KWW man I have found 2 or the most amazing people. We all know your ability so that showed in every shot you make. My point it who and what you are personally. Your knowledge skill is second to none. It the girl the man and the way you both relate to life. My son is 38 Miami native. My family settled to Miami in 1905. You my friend are nothing but exceptional. That young lady is gets as amazing. Well done to this incredible couple. She is very adorable. Totally impressive.
Man I can't believe that Grouper was still alive with that kind of injury. Nice shot. Spearing was not real feasible here in the Tampa area. Viz just absolutely sucked. However, we did manage to land a 49" Cobia the other day. Grilled some up yesterday Yum!
Hey just for a change of pace you can pick up a thing of your favorite croutons garlic herb is really good crunch them up and use them as a batter then there's always pork rinds just for a change of pace
The Tree of Life that size was an exceptional find which easily had 10 to15 different species....After Ida last year there was very little sargassum off Marathon and all the flotsam from Bamboo right up to a basketball backboard & hoop I found were just an amazing sight with the amount of species especially all the Tripletail....Most people ignore these floating cities!!
Freaking amazing life around that tree! It was spectacular on film, it must have been mind blowing g in person. Grouper sandwiches of any sort are very high on my list. Im definitely trying the cheek sliders next time I boat a grouper. Great video and as always, thanks for sharing. Tell M,-‘Go Pokes!

I believe it! the deep blue is a lonely place.
It’s something. That is the short answer. It’s the same reason why animals in the plains congregate around trees and water
Also protection(?)

Flour, then egg wash, then bread crumbs. In that order. You'll see the difference.

The Tree of Life that size was an exceptional find which easily had 10 to15 different species....After Ida last year there was very little sargassum off Marathon and all the flotsam from Bamboo right up to a basketball backboard & hoop I found were just an amazing sight with the amount of species especially all the Tripletail....Most people ignore these floating cities!!
haha that is awesome!
Love your high production methods for stacking lions up. That tree was crazy too. We're going to try your sauce soon too. Great vid!
