      @@TylerSpangler hi Tyler I watch a lot of hand 2 hand combat video content and yours is one of the best it be great to see more on MMA and what is the correct moves only to use for MMA as some moves don't work. And as you seem to submit most with JJ be good if you went to all the MMA gyms and start finishing there top fighters lol. I would be interested in a video series or course on MMA from your insights

    This is a perfect example that there arent any shortcuts in real Martial Arts. People dont see all the tiny details that a person builds over the years of training, but when they feel it they realize. Keep it up Zach, everybody gets beaten up at the gym!

    You have some decent stand up. Good balance, strikes and solid kicks. I trained boxing for roughly 5 years before ever stepping on the mats from 2013-2018 and I am glad I did because I realized most grapplers NEVER even tried striking! Huge advantage even if some just shadow boxed and just hits the heavy/cobra bag. It's amazing I can still move the same way and have the same power even if I do not train it regularly anymore.

  • @justinholloway5210
    @justinholloway5210 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The biggest issue he had at 3:10 when he went for Harai Goshi was not so much that his hips were too high because I'm 6'4 my hips are typically higher than my opponents. Hard for me to get lower so I use throws like Uchi mata or Harai Goshi to make up for that. His biggest issue was his grips. There was nothing he had to make your body want to step forward aka Kuzushi in order for you to block the leg step and bring the opponent over. You had all the leverage and your hips were low enough to counter and bring him over. I've hit Uchi Mata and Harai goshi on guys weighing around 300lbs in free sparring. As my sensei used to say when technique is done correctly "Uke is like smoke"

    Why do you think there has never been a straight ankle lock sub in UFC? Is it that fighters there are not good enough grapplers? Or is it that this is mainly "pain based" and tapping to it is an equivalent to tapping to strikes?
    I love straight ankle lock myself, it's probably my top 3 submission, and also I frequently tap to it when it's done belly down on me because it sure does feel like the foot is about to break. But there's a big difference between heel hook and straight ankle lock in that there's plenty of footage on the internet where the heel hook really results in a catastrophic failure, but I've never seen such a failure with straight ankle lock (there are high level bij matches finished with straight ankle lock, and often the defeated person limps around afterwards, but I've never seen an actual break happening)

    • @TylerSpangler
      @TylerSpangler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a lot of it is pain tolerance, yes, but I also think it’s completely taught wrong by most people. I watched a few videos on it that showed it right and it is night and day different. I’ve learned it in gyms and you can barely feel it.
      Also, footlocks in mma are generally bad because of the whole two hands on one foot while they punch you part

    • @jinxit
      @jinxit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TylerSpangler Do you think you'd actually break something with your straight ankle lock on an opponent who's say from one weight class above you who's flexible (not crazy flexilble, but say Gordon Ryan flexible)? I get taps from straight ankle locks on bigger people, but to be honest I'm not sure if this isn't only a pain sub in my case
