Also to note if you don't want to use your main wyze account due to openly using password, you can setup a new wyze account then share the cameras you want to use this docker container with the new account. Thus if something does happen your main account isn't breached.
I just received my first Wyze Cam and followed your instructions. Absolutely no problems and went as smoothly as you can ask for. It took me abouy 5 times longer than it should have as I played the video and would pause and perform the task. Everything went perfectly. This is one of the top instructional videos, if not the top, instructional videos I have used on YT. It was almost like having you present walking me through it!
Great video! I don't know if it's only me (probably) , but I found that Lon is back with more useful videos. Reviews of PC are good sometimes, but quickly become redundant. Keep up the great work, as always!
Great video! I just learned about the cameras last night and for the price I figured they'd be fun to play with so I ordered a couple. I've spent all night researching how to get them to record to Synology Surveillance Station and found a lot of hacks. I wish I would have found your video about 14 hours ago!
Thanks for this video, this breathes a ton of new functionality into my Wyze cams, and is a great toe-in-the-water for Docker functionality on synology.
Great video! I was hesitant at first as I have all my Wyze cams on an different IOT network (using Unifi). However, I tried this on one and it works just fine!
One thing that may help is to ensure in the Synology firewall you have enabled port 443 as allowed. Wyze bridge uses this to authenticate and without it you'll see errors in the container log about user and auth failing repeatedly. Appreciate the video Lon, keep up the Synology love!
Thanks Lon. I just did the same on my QNAP with more or less the same steps, except I used the docker command line with a docker-compose.yml file. The QVR Pro surveillance app on QNAP requires one to select "Generic Camera" as the brand and camera type when setting up the camera manually, then it was just copying and pasting in the RSTP URL.
Great video. I have Wyze cams and a Synology, and was vaguely familiar with RTSP, Docker, and Surveillance Station. This tutorial broke it down into simple steps I could easily follow.
This actually sold me on Wyze cameras. I like being able to redistribute streams from my Wyze account to my motioneye. I wish this was more feasible for ring and adt cameras.
Is anyone else having a problem with the Wyze Docker package since Synology's move to Container Manager? Can not find the Wyze package in the package center and Surveillance now requires me to authenticate and cameras added, which I can not do. Everything worked. as described in the video until this update by Synology.
Hello... The first camera installed great... I am unsure how to expand now that I have proven that the WYZE are great cameras that work on my NAS. Anyway, I will watch the video a few more times to see if I missed how to add an additional camera to the container.
I'm receiving "Local port 1935 conflicts with other ports used by other services" on my Synology 918+. Is there another port which can be used? Thanks!
UPDATE: I added my Wyze V3 to the docker and everything seemed to go smooth..but when trying to connect to it via the 5080 port I get an error message saying "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application." Anyone having an idea what I've done wrong? To even get there I needed to open some ports on my router.. Great tutorial! One question, 4:30 in you mention that you might want to get one of your network legs from your synology to the same iot network...But how do i actually do that?
Thank you. This is an excellent video that was very helpful to me for getting my wyze cameras into Blue Iris software. I find many of your videos helpful. Thank you again.
Great video, I was looking into this. Do you know how to bring Wyze Camera's into Scripted? Furthermore into HomeKit? That would be an awesome idea for a video. thanks
Thank you for the highly informative video. Has anyone experienced problems connecting to Surveillance Station, but the bridge and RTSP feed are working perfectly? I even turned off the firewall and disconnected the VPN.
I'm just beginning to understand the use and capabilities of my Synology NAS 2 things I found with this process- 1. On my Synology DS220+ running DSM 7.2-64570 Update 3, Docker is called Container Manager. Simpy a verbiage issue? 2. I've got my Wyze pan-cam working, but it only records events if I'm logged into the NAS with Monitor Center open. The rest of the time, it does not record the video to my NAS. The events are visible on my phone via the Wyze app.
Would it be possible to develop a mobile app to control the start and stop recording of this camera and save the file to a specific folder? Can we have this kind of control over this cameras?
Hey Lon, thanks for the presentation. Worked for me with one caveat. I have two WYZE pan-cams v2 running RTSP firmware to BlueIris and SS. On this docker container those two but not two others (Outdoor cam and a Cam v3) have the video 180º. Tried resetting them via the Wyze software but to no effect. Hate to think it is the RTSP firmware causing this bug.
Ever since DSM updated and docker-wyze-bridge updated to 2.9.0, my cameras (v3) won't connect. I can still use the Wyze app, but not surveillance station. I can still see streams from the bridge and separate port. Do we need to setup the RTSP stream differently? Also why will my containers not update to the newest image when resetting them? I've downloaded the latest.
I've been looking at using Wyze cams to replace some of the Panasonic Webcams I'm using for my home automation system, but the Wyze firmware updates over time have broken the integration. It may be worth buying another Synology NAS (a small one) just for the home automation branch of my network.
Great! Thanks! But I guess if there is any sort of restart or power outage, one will have to re-enter the Wyze 2FA which is not going to work unless one is actually home and in a position to reset the bridge inside the Docker container.
I can’t get mine to work. I used it for a few weeks a last year or so and it had some lag issues. Now it’s not working at all. Keeps saying client disconnected in logs. It will work for a second or two then stop. Not sure if it is due to a firmware update or what. Very frustrating.

I’m thinking it’s because I have them hooked up to blueiris and set to record continuously. Maybe I should just enable record on trigger… Did you test how long outdoor cams last with this setup?
Yeah the outdoor camera really isn’t designed to be run continuously like that. It might be possible to offset with a solar panel / battery but likely cheaper and easier to run a v3 cam

As mentioned this standardizes the Wyze camera so it’ll work with free options too. Also synology licenses are one time and not an ongoing subscription

did you figure this out? Sounds like the issue im having right now-- got to API key screen and generated key and then a seperate sign in popped up-- and its not taking any credentials ive set up for either as well

1. Wyze now requires API for login 2. I had a port conflict and this fixed it: "Just change the local port to the one you want. For example - 5050:5000 # WEB-UI" 3. It was asking me for username and password for WEB UI and I couldn't get in, this fixed it: WB_AUTH:false
Ugh I need help. Im not very familiar with this. But I saw someone's video the other day about this camera and I decided to buy one. Only issue I misunderstood and thought that It had an ethernet port and that I would be able to hookup to my NVR. So basically, since I'm not able to do that. Hey Lon-- I have a miniPC running Windows 11 Pro and set up Home Assistant running on VMWare Player (more efficient that running in Hyper V). 1. Wyze now requires API for login
2. I had a port conflict and this fixed it:
"Just change the local port to the one you want.
For example - 5050:5000 # WEB-UI"
3. It was asking me for username and password for WEB UI and I couldn't get in, this fixed it: WB_AUTH:false
where do you type the WB_AUTH:false?
@@arturoimaz6989 add it to the env variables
Thanks- this got me in!!
Ugh I need help. Im not very familiar with this. But I saw someone's video the other day about this camera and I decided to buy one. Only issue I misunderstood and thought that It had an ethernet port and that I would be able to hookup to my NVR. So basically, since I'm not able to do that. I was wondering if there is a way I can get RTSP on it so I can send video to my NVR? I see videos about setting up RTSP on the v2 and the other v3 cam. But haven't found anything for this cam.
Good video
Hey Lon-- I have a miniPC running Windows 11 Pro and set up Home Assistant running on VMWare Player (more efficient that running in Hyper V). There's a method running "Docker Wyze Bridge" within Home Assistant/no longer need a separate Docker installation, reference th-cam.com/video/YZVJ1yvdobE/w-d-xo.html , TH-cam channel The Smart House, from last year, in case link isn't supported in comments. It runs good/efficient, but I thought it might work as possibly an interesting project for you on a miniPC since you could have an all-in-one system and delete the synology aspect, since many of the miniPCs have extra NVME SSD slot or SATA slot. Always enjoy your channel and reviews. Coming to you from Starlink connection somewhere in Baja California.
ssl certificate
Do you think the DS224 would work also?
I've added 5080 as local port and 5000 as container port but when I use my desktop computer and put in my NAS IP 192.168.x.:5000 it still redirects to :5001. Any ideas how to correct this? I'd really like to get it working. Thanks for the video.
I got the same problem here. Anyone can help? Thanks.
Have you tried 192.168.x.x:5080. Port 5000 is for inside the container. 5080 is for outside to talk to the container.
@@steves9250 Yes, I tried 5080 and it says the site cannot be reached. It did look like it connected once but no cameras were present, unlike at 13:17 where 5 cameras just show up. I was expecting 1 camera in my case. Also, now, in DSM I'm getting messages in the log such as
'Fetching 'auth' from the Wzye API...' and
'Could not find local cache for 'auth'' and
'could not find local cache for 'cameras'' and
" [API] ERROR: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='auth-prod.api.wyze.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /v3/user/login (Caused by NameResolutionError(": Failed to resolve 'auth-prod.api.wyze.com' ([Errno -3] Temporary failure in name resolution)"))"
Finally I'm getting emails saying, "Container mrlt8-wyze-bridge1 stopped unexpectedly. "
Any help is appreciated; I'm a rookie.
im running into problems. I get the docker container running and tested working with vlc. When I go to install the cam into SS it comes up with an authenticate error. I have tried leaving it blank and putting in my wyze user and pass. What am I missing?
Depends which model camera you have. The newer ones don't work.
@@LonSeidman Oh, sorry. Im running the floodlight V1 which has the wyze cam v3 on it. its running firmware 4.36.11.8391.
@@LonSeidman Got it to work. I removed the IP address and entered "localhost". do you see any problems with doing this? Thanks
