Dear Mandy, if you prepare the fish before hand and store in the fridge 20-30 minutes before cooking, the panko will crisp up more creating a more restaurant-like fish. This allows the breading ingredients to better adhere to the fish. This helpful hint came from a well renowned chef!

Hi, Mandy! Try cutting the root end of each clove of garlic off before giving them the Stephen smash. It works a treat!

    • @zivagoldman2001

I do that but in reverse. I smash the garlic, then with the knife, cut the root part and pull the garlic out. The knife holds the peel for easy removal.

I am so glad y'all liked the French onion pork chops. Yes, we just welcomed our fourth grandbaby last Tuesday. Her name is Letty. You and Steven are a blessing to us. One of my local food bloggers I watch prays before he eats. I know this because of the way he films and there is a visable pause in the filming after he films folding his hands and then pauses the video and comes back when he says amen and has his catch phrase that starts his videos. I find it very nice to know he has his prayer but keeps it personal between him and God. Thank you for answering that question honestly and openly. Your content is amazing, your personal life should be yours.

For a neat twist on sloppy joes, try having it on garlic Texas toast. Basically make your sloppy joe mixture as you would normally. while that is cooking/simmering. Bake the Texas toast per package directions. Once both are done. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture on top of the Texas toast and top with a slice of Provolone cheese and then put back in the oven for like 3-5 minutes to melt the cheese. Its so good!!

I never realized how easy and delish it was to make myself.

The French onion pork chops is one of my go to recipes. It’s also become one of my favorite comfort foods. I like to make it over hashbrowns or Rice-A-Roni. I cook the rice, a Roni about halfway and then put it under the pork chops. It taste really good with the French onion sauce. Also, thanks to that recipe. I put those fried onions on anything I bake.

Mandy cut off the hard root end of the garlic clove before smashing it with your knife, then pick up the smashed clove by the other end/tail and slap it downward on your cutting board until the skin slips off in your fingers. My mom showed me this years ago when she saw me struggling to peel the skins off 40 cloves of garlic for a recipe OR you could just use your gadget. lol I have one of those tube peelers but I always seem to do it the way mom taught me. 🥰 Prayers for you sister. 🙏🏻✝

Hi! I just discovered you a few weeks ago and LOVE your channel! I made the Boursin chicken a few nights ago and it was a big hit with my hubby (and me!). Last night I made your garlic parmesan orzo and that was also delicious! Prayers for your sister -- hope everything goes exactly right!

Smash your garlic a few times and skin almost peels itself! My fave and easiest way is Stevens method aggressively ! 👍

Garlic...purchase prepealed whole garlic and place in a sealable storage container. Fill with olive oil. Store in refrigerator. This will keep for a crazy long time and you can use the flavored garlic oil and garlic cloves when needed. In my house I will use it long before it spoils and saves on prep time.

For the garlic... it depends how many cloves I'm peeling... If it's just a couple then I use the smash method like Steven... but you do have to smash them really hard for them to come off easily. If I doing a bunch (like a whole head or more) I break the cloves apart and throw them in a jar and shake the snozz out of them for about 20-30 seconds... they mostly peel themselves. Sometimes you have to throw a couple back in to shake but that's all there is to it. And... you get a lil workout at the same time... LOL.

Instead of mincing the garlic, you can also grate on the fine part or smaller part of the grater and its easier clean up

Love your channel. Thank you so much for the time you put into cooking and recipes for us. BTW, You dont have to pray in front of us to prove something. I did not like that judgey-nosey question someone wrote you. Prayer can be private, and there is nothing wrong with that. So just keep on keeping on and blessings to you.

I do the smacking trick "with confidence", lol. First, cut the bottom end of the clove off (that dry area which keeps the cloves together in a bulb). Then, lay the clove flat on its side (like a mountain), and then smack down hard enough that it cracks at least half of the clove. Works like a charm all the time. Although, I will admit that garlic with thick dry skin is a lot easier to peel then a fresh garlic that just got harvested from the garden (which has younger thin skin).

Don't forget the brand Wonderbread! :) I will always remember when I was small and my grandmother would take me to the Wonderbread Store and she would get all the bread and bread supplies and treats. I always loved and still do those cherry pies and the lemon! It was like a mini outlet/shop kind of like what Dollar Store only it was "Wonderbread"
