    Top job! Worked for scania for a spell. Ever since the xpi engines came out they've had liner seal issues. Apparently the liners 'rock' and weaken the seals, then the combustion gasses pass the gasket and melt the top seal. Ive done more than i care to remember but only ever had to get one block cut. Might sound a bit rough but i used to replace the seals and put some grey high temp rtv around the top seals to fill in any gaps caused by a worn block. At the time these were coming up on 1 million k's and nearing the end of their lives. But honestly never had one leak. Definitely the right things doing all 6

      i have worked on few xpi's too, blocks worn, seals in shite, had a few cut and a few with 'cuff' rings put in but they dont last, engines as low as half a mil kms, iv noticed unlike alot of older engines they cant take much time at all in an overheat state, supposedly the blocks made of some fancy material which isnt helping, the liners pop in by hand and yes you can see them rock sometimes, you'd imagine the head would iliminate that though

    Had a few scania marine engines do this now. If it doesn't do the top seal the liners pit and go pourus. Coolant no doubt a factor but poor design by scania, seem to get more internal work done these little 6 potters than other brands.

    • @TattoooedTech
      @TattoooedTech  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep! I don’t understand how they blame coolant strength when all our trucks run the same coolant and the only one with issues is the scania

      @eskieastman2138 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TattoooedTech i'm probably telling you how to suck eggs here mate but, apparently its the additive in the coolant being depleted. It should form a layer on the liner so when it contracts/expands the layer of additive is removed, as the coolant ages it takes pieces of the block/liner instead. Again tho rubbish design

    Happy New Year Ash. Looks like your mate was right No3 head, Thats the worst thing you can have being pulled off the job that where mistakes are made, Typical Scania problema they allways where a crap engine from the 111 / 141 V8s they had a hole in the block where the water would leak out of when the seals have gone, I can never understand anyone Buying / Paying 30k+ for an over
    priced Scania in the first place, And if as you say it only done 500 thousand kms what a load of Shite Scania Are, and as for that block it looks fucked to me? Wing are a prayer job lol sell it quick, maybe should have got rid before stripping it down, The Mains and Bigends allways need changeing to keep good oil pressure on the early ones, looks like nothing has change with Scania,
    We often fitted Fuller 9 speed gearbox in them because their gearboxs was Crap.
    The Only GOOD thing we found with a Scania ?? Was the DOOR on the Way Out though.
    We have a DAF 1.5 Millon on the clock all its had is a Clutch at 1m a turbo at 1,4 m Engine / Box / Axle / Brake disc Never been touched, Plus it a much better Cab, Thats proves that Scania are Overpriced CRAP.

      Scania are over priced for sure I’m not a huge fan, I like my Volvos but they are equally as expensive to buy now, we don’t have much luck with these new dafs always have sensor and wiring issues, alot have had cams replaced and the new XGs are terrible with injector faults
