Good tour Dean (you never waffle!) All the best on your rearrangement of the workshop +new shed. We would find in interesting to see you restore your new saw.😊😊

put your compressor in the shed. Run the air line into the workshop then it will be a lot quieter in your workshop then

@@eddieedmondson6159 that's a good idea Eddie. I only run it during the daytime so it shouldn't upset the neighbours too much.

Really enjoyed that Dean, we all want our space to expand, a TARDIS would be very handy!😁.
I love your donkey saw, I think a full series of videos would be useful to "future generations" albeit a bit "niche" and I know filming can add so much time when you want to just get on with it! Anyway bet you can't wait to get your new shed and get it all sorted, trouble is our stuff expands to fill our space!
    All the best,
    Cliff.

@@CliffsShed thanks, I've really struggled with it this last year, but it's an upheaval to do something about it. You just tend to work around the difficulty. Time for a pause and a good sort out! I will do a series on the saw, thanks for your support.

The Rapidor is THE classic British power hacksaw. I'm sure you have an equivalent in the USA.

Great plan Dean, yes, the corner is a good place for your milling machine, should have plenty of room. I dig the power hacksaw. All old tools are cool.

If you are building a new shed you should look a Composite Roof Panels I built an extension to my worksop with these, very easy to use cut's out noise never need's any maintenance keeps the workshop warm and use for roof and walls just build onto a steel or wooden frame to attach the sheets. If you can try use a 21inch front and 18 rear Trials and Trail bike's all use this size lots of options in tyres and having used Trial and Trail for well over 50 years the twitching is just an old wives tale on green lanes if you drop in a hole you will soon see a 21 inch is a life saver. You will all ready know do not weld with Propane just stick to brazing heating silver soldering etc welding will end up brittle. A full reno would be nice on the saw and thanks for another enteraining video.

Uncle Michael here. Mill in the corner is the way to go, body tucks away and the table has lots of travel for a small footprint. The hacksaw is a great buy and you will love being able to stick a big sawing job in and then walking away. BUT, first you must get a flat hat.

Another interesting video Dean. Regarding the compressor you could put it outside under the window and cover it with a purpose built covering . Kind regards to you your son and family .Mike

    Hi Dean,
Thanks for the mention!! the rapidor looks good, it is very similar to the one Paul has at Haxby shed. there really is a lot of variation in designs though, I think mine is late 50's or early sixties and was supplied by Buck and Hickman to Newcastle City Tech college! It features heavily in this weeks video, for all the wrong reasons, there might be some rebushing needed in its future! Your workshop is looking great and I like the plans for the future, I have my large compressor outside in a purpose build block shed, but you could put yours outside in a wooden box lined with insulation to cut the noise. Having my small compressor in the workshop is a noisy nuisance!

Great video as always. I really like the ideas for your workshop reorganisation. One thing I will say. I think it will be worth your while to make some jack up machine moving beams along the lines of the ones I made. I have a film on them as you know. They make moving any machine to be moved by one person, seamlessly and in absolute safety. You can position your machines anywhere you want, singlehandedly, completely negating the tendency for said machines to attempt to kill you.
I was thinking you could get one of those big Keter plastic garden storage boxes and put it under the window outside your workshop. The compressor could go in it and the power and air could go through the wall fairly simply.
I like the idea of the big toolboard and loosing one of the roll cabs.
You do realise now that I have to buy a flippin' Rapidor right?! On that subject, I definitely want to see the full bifter in terms of the saw restoration or repairs. I do love a bit of machine restoration, as you know.

    • @retromechanicalengineer
      @retromechanicalengineer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@carlwilson1772 the general consensus seems to be to show it all. I'll do my best to show as much as I can. I think the machine dollies are a good idea, although the lathe isn't too bad because it lifts off the stand with a block and tackle.
There are lots of Rapidors for sale. They are heavy beasts though, best bolted to a pallet to move ship them.
      Best wishes, Dean.

Hi mate.....As "Uncle Michael" said i think putting the Milling machine in the corner is a great idea. Unlike nearly all your subscribers I can close my eyes an visualise being back there. I think if you setup the outside shed as a "dirty" area to include buffing/welding/blasting and move the Oxy set there as well would be an option. This would also help segregate your safety concerns about having gases near the residential dwelling, which is a well fostered concern. We have similar backgrounds, so I'm all for toolboards over toolboxes every day of the week. I have always felt it's far more efficient to have a toolboard rather than "ratting" around in a toolbox looking for tools. The power hacksaw looks like a great purchase............yeah we'd like to see a few episodes of you bringing it back to its former glory. Great concept for a video as well to invite people in to offer advice......

@@OzBSABantams thanks mate. You do have the advantage of actually being in this space, we hadn't really started on the beer by then! I think the shed will become the dirty area, I need to get the parts washer out of the workshop for definite. We are used to shadow boards on the wall, tool boxes for when you go mobile. The saw will be featured in its own series, the people have spoken!
