since her betrayal of you got virtually the entire DB slaughtered (all because she was jealous of you and felt you threatened her leadership no less), she pretty much waived her rights in the organization. Even she realized she screwed up; hence why she used her own body to perform the black sacrament and put a contract on herself. By turning herself into a contract she was seeking redemption in her own way. She still deserved it though...as if she'd just accepted that you were Listener and would be passing along contracts from the Night Mother she still could've run the actual day to day business of the organization.
I hope in the next game, the Morag Tong and the Dark brotherhood gains momentum within Tamriel and become feirce rivals that we have/can choose from. It would be cool to see the high class honor-bound assassins against the more ruthless cutthroats; that and I want to serve Mephala.
The Morag Tong were based in morrow wind and became pretty powerful and never really had run-ins withe the Dark Brother hood unless they tried to have power in morrowwind was destroyed they became virtually none existent but maybe they could become powerful again
Ze Corn King I had trouble trying to read all that. However, the Morag Tong may have been based in Morrowind, but they were once a sanctioned group of assassins all over Tamriel. Also Dark Brotherhood and Morag Tong were known for killing each other at every turn possible. The Morag Tong Have been noted for leaving Morrowind in order to hunt down their prey that thought that leaving Morrowind would be pardoned from the writ of execution. In Morrowind, Tribunal, it was known that King Hasleth used the Dark Brotherhood to kill the Nerevarine, who may or may not have been a Morag tong member/leader. To say that the Dark brotherhood and the Morag Tong never had any run-ins would be an incorrect statement as both hated each other's guts. What I am hoping for the next installment, seeing how the Emperor was killed by the Brotherhood, the next one on the throne will install his own group of assassins to hunt down the Brotherhood. Seeing how the Morag Tong are considered to be imperially sanctioned as a Guild and they absolutely HATE the Brotherhood, I believe the Morag Tong will become prevalent again.
There are plenty of other cool assassins, who were never part of one of these groups.That could be interesting as well, e.g. the shadowscales of Black Marsh.

I hope TES6 doesn't suffer from Skyrim's 'Hero of everything' syndrome. My main character is a Harbinger Vampire, after first curing her lycanthropy, Dragonborn, Arch-Mage, Guild Master, Nightingale, Legate, Listener and what ever else she's done that i've forgotten about. I love the freedom of being a part of everything but by Sithis i do not need to be the leader of every single faction on Nirn to enjoy the game! I'd be more than happy to serve a Listener. In fact it'd be awesome if you randomly received a letter with the black hand and the targets name and location written on it. eg - "Lokir of Rorikstead." When my character dies where in Oblivion does her soul go?!

MickMaan The game is too fun to play through with just one character. I constantly restart as a new race/build. I give my characters back stories that pave the route for my character, be he/her an assassin, thief, warrior, mage. It gets rid of that "hero of everything" thing.
gnasher g Yep that's exactly what i've done for a while now. I've seen/done the intro at least 200 times by now haha. Gawd i hope they have something similar to Live Another Life in TES6. I can't tell you how many times i've wanted to just be a hunter at his camp in the wilderness when i start the game.

They really weren't 'real' dark brotherhood. They didn't even have a listener... without the listener they truly have no connection to sithis. Alternatively, ever think sithis was controlling your character. Maybe it was Sithis's will for you to send his followers to the void.

The Dark Brotherhood is more powerful than the Morag Tong due to its willingness to take just about any kind of contract, whereas the Tong is usually limited to political or religious conflicts, and only operates within one province, while the Brotherhood operates within several.

Further, he can be seen as a worse version of the Daedra-- whereas they'll view people as playthings, Sithis actively acknowledges his role as evil and exercises it thusly.

to be honest, my biggest question in the entire affair is simply; how can we know for sure he is not aedra/deadra? Sure the texts may say so, but untill we get confirmation from a deadra/eadra themselves... We shall never know. SO. unless anyone can verify such an event in any of the games.. ? Anywhore, IMO no aedra would *ever* order random assassionations because another mortal prayed to the night mother. It's much more like a deadra to spread such horror, fear and chaos.

That's The lore of skyrim. Astrid and her fan club were just hired killers. They didn't follow the five tenets. They broke all of the five tenants, and if you get the spectral assassin, which is Lucien LaChance from the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion, he states the place needs to be cleansed. (That's when the Dark Brotherhood has either lost their way, or has been compromised...so they kill every single one of them.) That wasn't the Dark Brotherhood that was just a fly free fancy assassin crew. Maybe interesting as their own, but not the dark Brotherhood. The Dark Brotherhood may have killed people and we're considers insane or evil, but they did it for a purpose, to serve their Dark Master and the night mother where as Astrid, again, was just putting together a band of assassins that killed for money. That is not the Dark Brotherhood... That is just hired assassins. To hell with your view on interesting, that is the lore of Skyrim. Yes, she was very interesting on her own, but the fact that she went around calling her and her pals the Dark Brotherhood, is why she is dead now. Should have named it the Assassin's Guild. But she didn't, so she felt the Wrath of Sithis. You can say Sithis doesn't care about the DB, but in joining, you are sending the souls of the ones you kill to sithis. You are serving him.

Excluding Shivering Isles (being an expansion & all), TDB was most def my favorite part of Oblivion. It might be just because I enjoyed it in TESIV so much, but I thought the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim was rather... boring. Except of course assassinating Titus Mede II, does anyone know if that's going to be "canon" in future TES by the way?
I am pretty sure that it will be canon just like everything else you did, but the next game features a new land set in different time, so it probably doesn't chance anything.
TES lore has "Dragon Breaks", which are sort of temporal anomalies during which everything that can happen does happen. For example, all endings of Daggerfall are canon despite the fact that they contradict each other.

Also, Morag Tong are definitely not as deadly as dark brotherhood, you shouldn't send 3 poorly armored, poorly skilled men to kill a heavily armored, heavily skilled man who has the ability to shout with various effects.

I would KILL for a Morag Tong Questline to rival the Dark Brotherhood one in Oblivion. They're so stylish and honour-based. And the way you just waltz up to the guards after a murder and show them your execution writs!! They were always my more favourite of the two guilds.
I have wondered, remember how in Skyrim you find cicero moving the night mother? What if you turned him in and then threw the night mother into a volcano or something? Sithis would have no one to speak through. Would he find a new wife? Food for thought.

Why did you choose the Falkreath Sanctuary instead of Cheydinhal Sanctuary, Cyrodiil? You could have referenced the Black Hand chain of command from there. Skyrim Dark Brotherhood Falkreath Sanctuary (being the game said that the last trace of the order in Tamriel was just that small clan) had no tradition and disregarded all rules originally placed.
And the leader (Astrid) literally invoked the wrath of Sithis. So you became the new listener, and in lore, four other dark brotherhood members (new recruits) become the speakers and go to a different province.
The dark brotherhood did not kill the grandmaster of the morag tong in Vardenafell- The leader of the dark brotherhood in Vardenfell was killed by the player in morrowind when doing the morag tong special duties quests. The grandmaster of the morag tong durig this time is killed by the player or is allowed to retire peacefully.

I hope in the next game, the Morag Tong and the Dark brotherhood gains momentum within Tamriel and become feirce rivals that we have/can choose from. It would be cool to see the high class honor-bound assassins against the more ruthless cutthroats; that and I want to serve Mephala.
The Morag Tong were based in morrow wind and became pretty powerful and never really had run-ins withe the Dark Brother hood unless they tried to have power in morrowwind was destroyed they became virtually none existent but maybe they could become powerful again
Ze Corn King I had trouble trying to read all that. However, the Morag Tong may have been based in Morrowind, but they were once a sanctioned group of assassins all over Tamriel. Also Dark Brotherhood and Morag Tong were known for killing each other at every turn possible. The Morag Tong Have been noted for leaving Morrowind in order to hunt down their prey that thought that leaving Morrowind would be pardoned from the writ of execution. In Morrowind, Tribunal, it was known that King Hasleth used the Dark Brotherhood to kill the Nerevarine, who may or may not have been a Morag tong member/leader. To say that the Dark brotherhood and the Morag Tong never had any run-ins would be an incorrect statement as both hated each other's guts.
What I am hoping for the next installment, seeing how the Emperor was killed by the Brotherhood, the next one on the throne will install his own group of assassins to hunt down the Brotherhood. Seeing how the Morag Tong are considered to be imperially sanctioned as a Guild and they absolutely HATE the Brotherhood, I believe the Morag Tong will become prevalent again.

I love the freedom of being a part of everything but by Sithis i do not need to be the leader of every single faction on Nirn to enjoy the game! I'd be more than happy to serve a Listener. In fact it'd be awesome if you randomly received a letter with the black hand and the targets name and location written on it. eg - "Lokir of Rorikstead."

MickMaan The game is too fun to play through with just one character. I constantly restart as a new race/build. I give my characters back stories that pave the route for my character, be he/her an assassin, thief, warrior, mage. It gets rid of that "hero of everything" thing.

They really weren't 'real' dark brotherhood. They didn't even have a listener... without the listener they truly have no connection to sithis. Alternatively, ever think sithis was controlling your character. Maybe it was Sithis's will for you to send his followers to the void.

Matheus Cossuol she didn't follow any of the five tenets. That is the whole basis for the Dark Brotherhood, the Dark Brotherhood serves Sithis. Without Sithis, there would be no Dark Brotherhood. That's The lore of skyrim.
Astrid and her fan club were just hired killers. They didn't follow the five tenets. They broke all of the five tenants, and if you get the spectral assassin, which is Lucien LaChance from the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion, he states the place needs to be cleansed. (That's when the Dark Brotherhood has either lost their way, or has been compromised...so they kill every single one of them.) That wasn't the Dark Brotherhood that was just a fly free fancy assassin crew. Maybe interesting as their own, but not the dark Brotherhood. The Dark Brotherhood may have killed people and we're considers insane or evil, but they did it for a purpose, to serve their Dark Master and the night mother where as Astrid, again, was just putting together a band of assassins that killed for money. That is not the Dark Brotherhood... That is just hired assassins. To hell with your view on interesting, that is the lore of Skyrim. Yes, she was very interesting on her own, but the fact that she went around calling her and her pals the Dark Brotherhood, is why she is dead now. Should have named it the Assassin's Guild. But she didn't, so she felt the Wrath of Sithis. You can say Sithis doesn't care about the DB, but in joining, you are sending the souls of the ones you kill to sithis. You are serving him.

Excluding Shivering Isles (being an expansion & all), TDB was most def my favorite part of Oblivion. It might be just because I enjoyed it in TESIV so much, but I thought the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim was rather... boring.
Except of course assassinating Titus Mede II, does anyone know if that's going to be "canon" in future TES by the way?
I have a suspicion they'll go the dragon age route and have you tick boxes for what all you want to have done in skyrim.
I am pretty sure that it will be canon just like everything else you did, but the next game features a new land set in different time, so it probably doesn't chance anything.

TES lore has "Dragon Breaks", which are sort of temporal anomalies during which everything that can happen does happen. For example, all endings of Daggerfall are canon despite the fact that they contradict each other.

Also, Morag Tong are definitely not as deadly as dark brotherhood, you shouldn't send 3 poorly armored, poorly skilled men to kill a heavily armored, heavily skilled man who has the ability to shout with various effects.
The Night mother and Sithis wouldn't allow it as it goes against the 5th Tenet.
