    This timeframe would make the best elder scrolls game ever. Imagine fighting for freedom with humans and even playing as an Ayleid to help the humans in a civil war across Cyrodil and all those artifacts of the Ayleids would make some pretty awesome gameplay and quests.

    The story of the paravant Alessia is equal parts a story of the oppressed rising up against and succeeding against their oppressors despite the odds but it is also just as much a story of the oppressed becoming even worse than their oppressors as horrific as Ayleids were no action warrants genocide as retribution. The empire of Alessia didn't simply drive the Ayleids from the white tower they hunted them to the literal edge of extinction.

    • @TSMK900
      @TSMK900 10 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      esbenjddk Talos did infact ascend to become just like the Aedra.
      In ES Oblivion for example, one of the things required to open the portal to Mankar Cameron's world is the "Blood of the divine"(Blood from the Aedra). When you scrape off some of the blood from Talos's imperial armor, that blood, along with other artifacts, open the portal to Mankar Cameron's world.
      This is proof of his ascension.
      Also, in the knights of the nine quest, you require a blessing from each of the Aedra to defeat Umaril. The blast blessing that you get, comes from Talos and is known as the "blessing of Talos". It blesses you just like the other blessings of the Aedra and helps you to defeat Umaril.
      This is proof of his ascension.
      Everytime you pray at the shrine of an aedra, you get blessed. When you pray at the shrine of Talos, you also get a blessing.
      This is proof of his ascension.
      Akatosh made the condition that was that if the worship of the 8 is not upheld, the covenant will be broken. When the state religion became 9, the covenent was still in place. This suggests that the other Aedra recognised Talos as one of them and accepted the worship of the 9.
      Any great nord who proved himself in battle, goes to Sovnegard. Talos is a nord and was considered the greatest of nords, yet when he died, in ES Skyrim, he is not seen in Sovnegard. This suggests that he may have ascended to become something else.
      Remember, man and mer are related to the Ehlnofey, the faded decendants of the Aedra. These Ehlnofey walked Nirn and devolved further to eventually become Man and Mer.
      Talos had dragon blood making him closer to the Aedra than any man or mer was in his era.
      There are various theories as to how he ascended but the most plausible one is that when Talos fiddled with the Mantella which had a connection with the Heart of Lorkhan, he somehow managed to evolve back into an Ehlnofey then an Aedra. The dragon blood possibly helped in this ascension.

    One thing you forgot to mention in your work about the Ayleids (which I love, by the way) is the defeat of the last Ayleid king, Umaril The Unfeathered, which took place atop White Gold Tower. Later on this became a focal point of the Knights Of The Nine expansion for Oblivion, as Umaril returned from Oblivion to be defeated once more. As I said though, VERY nice work and keep it coming! :D

      Nicholas Fincannon Right, good observation! Those guardians that attack you inside the tower when you try to rob the Elder Scrolls, right? I could be wrong though but I seem to remember being attacked by something called "Ayleid Guardians" inside the tower.

    • @kainnosgoth7336
      @kainnosgoth7336 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nicholas Fincannon Y'know though, Oblivion really nailed it right with the look
      of the Ayleid ruins.You had these ethereally beautiful cities that were like dark cathedrals made of both natural and man-made stonework. Not to mention the eerie blue lights from the Welkynd and Varla stones and cages of meteoric stone that lit the hallways.
      Above all, you got the feeling that these were once great cities at the height of
      the power of the race, now nothing but empty shells that became the crypts and tombs for a once powerful people whose arrogance was their downfall, with ancient ghosts and spirits standing vigil over bones and dust..

    It is so strange, being affected with a sense of vexation whenever Aldmeris is mentioned as a mysterious continent that existed in the ancient past and might still exist somewhere in the present. All signs clearly point toward Aldmeris physically being Tamriel, and its paradise-like status in the cultural memories of mer as being representative of the time before the Ehlnofey wars, when the Aldmer/Old Ehlnofey lived among the Aedra. There are so many blind spots and inconsistencies in history which are cleared up by the idea that the High Elves came from ancient Tamriel and couldn't find it for hundreds or thousands of years after their voyage because they'd lost their way at sea.

      the Thalmor are a faction. A political party that was against Alinor's ideas. They want to dominate and show to everyone that the Altmer is a superior race to both Men and other Mer and beast folk too. They were never been taken seriously by the majority of the Altmer until the Oblivion Crisis when they stepped in and saved their homeland.

    • @mgoDecoy
      @mgoDecoy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @mgoDecoy
      @mgoDecoy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah i just hope that the Thalmor ideas will not get the Altmer follow the Snow Elven path. It would be a shame to have everyone against you and in the end you get to extinction, cause from what i see even the Bosmer dont like the fact that the Thalmor see them as a secondary class of Mer, they see Dark Elves as a cursed tribe, and they see Orcs as Beasts, they dont have much of respect for the khajiit either. The way i see it even if the Empire loose again the upcoming war and enslave Humanity or whatever, the other Mer races will probably rebel against them.

    • @shinon748
      @shinon748 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're Mer. They're technically Altmer they're just called Ayleids as thats the Aldmeri word for Wild Elf. The Altmer gave them that name to describe how the Ayleids rebelled against the Summerset Isles.

      Dragos Udrea I didn't mean to make this sound like I'm critiquing the Dunmer, afterall, there's nothing wrong with being jewish and I have nothing against jews, although jew jokes are kind'a my thing, I mean no actual disrespect to them. :)
      I actualy like the Dark elves, if nothing else, I like their appearence, the worship of Mephala (who I find to be a really cool deity, considering she's asociated with sex and assassins). The only thing I really dislike about them is their past of slavery. Which is no small thing, but it's been outlawed. :)

    Are the Ayleids only different from the Aldmer by name? Or do they have distinct physical features that seperate the two groups? Also is it the same with the Chimer before they became the Dark Elves?

    • @ayleidking5251
      @ayleidking5251 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I can tell you the Ayleids are taller from experiences If you play Oblivion do the Thieves guild quest all the way through and you can find two ancient Ayleids under the empyreal city beware they are not push overs in a fight.

    • @kainnosgoth7336
      @kainnosgoth7336 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. There was one quest in Oblivion where a High Elf sorceror turned himself into an Ayleid sorceror king, and it looked like he changed in physical features. I would think that that "might" be a good look at what they might have been like.
      Do notice though in Oblivion, that the Ayleid double-bladed axes bear a strong resemblance to the double-bladed glass axes in Skyrim, and Elven armor in Skyrim shows a strong resemblance to to Ayleid armor (most notably the light armor helmets that resemble the head of a bird of prey.) Very interesting.

      Have any of you played TESO yet? I've read there is an actual Ayleid in that game. I've also read from the wiki that the Ayleids only physical difference from the Altmer/Aldmer is that they are a little dark but lighter than Dunmer.

    • @ayleidking5251
      @ayleidking5251 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Primrose I have not played it yet but from what I can tell in the game half the shit going on has no significance to the main stream elder scrolls games or lore. The wiki may say that the only physical difference is the skin color but I have met multiple Ayleid's in a relevant elder scrolls game that were a full head taller than my High Elf in armor.

    Fun fact, Søvn in a few Scandinavian languages mean "Sleep" and "gard" means "enclosed space." So it is not an actual word or place. It is a fictional mix of words. Sovngarde is based directly from Valhalla, the paradise for Norse warriors after death, if chosen by the Valkyries. Just felt like adding that.

    Though the Ayleids gave theirs a central Spire as the imago of Ada-mantia, the whole of the polydox resembled the Wheel, with eight lesser towers forming a ring around their primus. To dismiss this mythitecture as being a mockery of the Aurbis is to ignore an important point: this same "jest" gave White-Gold Tower a power over creatia unalike any on this plane(t). It was a triumph of sympathetic megafetish, and the Start of the [Threat! To! Empire!] that brings me to this Council.

    I decided to watch this again an I realized, that. How the Aylied’s empire fell was just like the Roman Empire only for a human empire almost just like the Roman Empire. Aylied’s were weakened by civil war and infighting, got invaded by Viking Norse type human invaders. A slave king/queen was a leader in the attack and aftermath even, after awhile the remnants of the Roman empire’s people were banished. Then someone else much less powerful than them in several aspects took over (IE the dark ages)

    An HBO show surrounding this time..could be amazing beyond human ability to articulate.

    I would love some sources on this, Ayleids are crazy cool, as is a lot of TES lore, but the Ayleids have an extremely crucial role in the survival of Man, and I would love to know what they did other than making dungeons and dying at the hand of Pelinal "See an elf, put its head on a shelf" Whitestrake

    I've always underestimated the Aylieds and just preferred the Dwemer, i haven't studied them... nice to see they have a rich history

    The term "Aldmeris" is used as both the name of the ancient island southwest of Tamriel that the Aldmer are purported to have originally come from, & is also used as the name of the Language that they spoke.
    "Aldmer" translates to "Original Folk" in Aldmeris.

    I just realized how interesting that will be...seeing an Orsimer mage.

    I've never seen them using magic so it would be cool to see that.
